Case Review #1: Thread #3: LE Press Conferences & Release: June 7 2010

They removed it. It is therefore hidden. :waitasec:

I have no idea why they removed and are hiding it. You'd have to ask them.

If they're updating, they could, of course, leave the old doc up until the new one is ready, then post the new one. That's how these things are most often done.

One of my posts from 6/20/10 indicates that the handbook was already gone at that time. Someone, I believe, posted in the reference forum before then, though.

Here's the school policy from the handbook:

Building Security
All parents, visitors and volunteers are required to checkin at the office prior to entering any other portion of the building. Identification tags are to be worn by all adults in the building during school hours. For security purposes, only the main entrance and East door will be unlocked during school hours. All other doors will be locked or monitored, as required by our district’s security policy. Please assist us as you enter or exit the building and check to see that doors are closed securely. If you are in our building and notice individuals without an identification badge, please ask them to register in the office.

No child is allowed to walk across the parking lot unattended.

BBM
So all of the other doors were supposed to be locked OR monitored. Maybe the flower-bed-kid-door was monitored, because it had to be opened periodically for other flower-bed-kids to go out and look at the project. If that door was truly monitored....then Kyron didn't leave that way.

Here's a link to the handbook:

Ah thank you, Morag!

Umm, sorry, continuing to add to my previous post!

But if Kyron went out the flower bed door with other kids, he might not have been noticed by the monitoring adult, who may have been a parent who didn't know all the kids by sight. And while he was out there, he could have been distracted by or attracted to something- or someone-else.

Interview with Matt Shelby, Portland Public school official, June 7:

The last school official to see the boy put him in the classroom earlier that morning showing off his project. No school official saw him after that.

So this fits from the earlier case review that none of Kyron's teachers saw him "check in" that day for class/group tour:

"The missing boy, Kyron Horman, was seen Friday morning by Kyron's step mom, who reportedly says she took him through a science fair at school and sent him off to class. His teachers say he never checked in, and no one has said they have seen him since."

Wait a sec, in his classroom, showing off his project? Is that the same time, 8:15, as the PTA president saw him pose with his project? I thought they left to tour the other classrooms and have seen no mention that Terri and Kyron returned to his classroom and to his project after taking photos.

8:15 a.m. Gina Zimmerman, president of the school PTA, arrives and sees Kyron with his stepmother in front of his exhibit.

8:45 a.m. Terri Horman leaves after watching Kyron walk toward his classroom after touring the science fair.

If so it's a bit strange IMO. If they toured other classrooms for close to 30 minutes why didn't any teachers see him? I had taken it for granted that there would have been teachers and other staff members in the classrooms and the gym on such a busy day to see who comes and goes. Weren't they there? Was it sooooo busy that the teachers wouldn't be expected to have seen everybody who came in their classroom?

It is strange. With the statements that 2 teachers saw him, and figuring one of those had to be his own teacher, I've always thought it was strange that no other school staff saw him.

I agree with you and Bean; But I've thought from the get-go that the only school "person" to see them together was Zimmerman when they were taking the pictures (which we now know were positively identified by the FBI as being taken that morning). I tend to believe these initial reports from the school officials because at that time, they had no reason to backtrack to "CYA" and everything was "fresh" in their minds.

Something led investigators back to that south/southeast parking lot, even in the last presser. And TP's statement is easily refuted by these above statements other than what he reported Kyron saying in passing in the hall about the electric project.

Easily for you maybe. ;) I haven't yet been able to dismiss anything TP said. In fact, I tend to believe children over adults, because children lack guile, and don't have agendas like adults do.
