the GM says even TODAY, after the 911 calls were released, that the smell in the car was from rotting pizza.....good grief

per foxnews

Denial...or simply protecting Casey.

Just speculation but..............maybe Cindy drove George to the impound yard and dropped him off to drive the car home. She proceeded home in her own car. In the hour since the first call to 911, George has arrived home with the Pontiac and says it smells like a dead body in the car. They question Casey and learn that Caylee is missing.

That's what prompted the second call.
Tow yards only do business during normal business hours. This was in the evening when all of these events and calls took place. (After 7:00pm)

In all fairness to Cindy, has anyone ever used the phrase " smells like a dead body" just to describe a bad odor ? I have and I really do not even know what a dead body smells like. Could she have just used that term to describe that the car smelled bad?[/quote]
Not with her grandchild missing for 31 days....the distraught tone tells me she is tying the two together-JMO

Do you have a link for that? This is the only thing I'm finding about pizza in Cindy's comments:

"Do me a favor," the grandmother said, put a little piece of pizza or garbage in your car and leave it shut up for 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 days......"

That's not the same as saying there actually was pizza found in the car.

I believe it was LE that reported to the pizza found in the car with maggots.

please post the statements from the dogs where they confirm this... :P

liljim, the dogs say they have been asked not to make any statements at this time!!!

:).....sorry - I could not resist!

LOL, the dogs only work, they arent allowed to take the stand:)
If anyone knows anything about Cadaver dogs, there is alot of training involved. The first thing they do is get used to human remains scent which can be quite repulsive to some at first. They become VERY used to this scent, which ask any homicide det. there is NO smell like it. Thse dogs are usually 95% right when they make a find. I am surprised that some think 2 Cadaver dogs could alert in same area of yard could be wrong!
The Anthonys, IMO are hiding alot. Unless Casey is real good at being sneaky and they hadnt a clue Casey had been there.

Bingo. That's a completely unguarded, visceral moment, IMO.
ha!!! great minds.. and all that..

Gramma was not acting when she made that call.

After hearing the 911 call i felt sorry for her, but I don't feel soory for her in the cover up.

The grandparents only had possession of the car for two days before police seized it.

i don't think its that she's defending her daughter as much as she's denying something has happened to Caylee. if she believes the smell was caused by pizza that means there is hope Caylee is still alive. if she believes what her daughter says about giving Caylee to someone that means she's alive. to not defend that, to not believe that means she has to believe the alternative...Caylee may be dead.

i think it's just as simple as any other parent...like Scott Peterson's parents, Jason Young's parents, & the many others who are parents of murderers.....they simply won't believe it...or they do, but can't make it known......

(i know Jason Young hasn't been arrested...YET!)

I'm beginning to agree. I think that little smirk on Casey's face when they arraigned her was "how do you like them apples?" It reminds me of those people who kill their children to punish their ex-spouses.

Whew! Thanks, Guys for trying to help me. I finally just downloaded the active x control to listen. Ugh.

Well...I am still not ready to concede on the grandmother just yet. Yes, I hear her crying. Yes, I hear she is upset. However, we do not know what really was going on for two hours. Cindy knew that Caylee was missing on the first call and did not sound like she was upset about it then. Why not?! She was more interested in the car and the cash at that point. It was an afterthought that Caylee was mentioned at all.

I think the in bewteen calls activity says it all- This woman made 2 previous attempts (went to station, called from car) to get Casey to say where Caylee was and Casey stuck to her story, she calls 911 with the car theft and says "possible missing child". Hangs up, Lee gets Casey to admit Caylee has been missing for 31 days (btw I think the 31 day number is significant, just not sure why) And she freaks out that the baby is really missing. I hear terror in her voice as she is screaming the story to a person in the background. I truly believe that she panicked that she was missing and reacted..
THEN
LE interviews Casey ALONE, interviewing other family elsewhere in home.
Cop tells Casey to her face her story is basically ridiculous, the GP says to the cop before he leaves he thinks Casey may not be telling the truth, I'm certain in the course of that or shortly thereafter she was a suspect.

Which reminds me- Didnt Cindy say her hubby was a former Homicide detective?? I know I head that today- has anyone checked that out?

I am in no way giving GMA a pass on anything but Caylee's actual death, the rest. I think she is complicit..

What exactly was on that pizza that the smell was so strong 19 days later? Over 2 weeks in the heat of Orlando, my guess is that the pizza would have shriveled up and the smell waned...

I do feel sorry for her. I think she is in denial, just like many of us moms would be for our own kids.

  • #474
Maybe Cindy wants just a few minutes with her again.

  • #475
oh my!....so you think Caylee's body was in the car the day they drove it home?.....i'm confused

Yes, unfortunately, that IS what I think. I also think that GMA is in peices in that 2nd 911 call because they opened the trunk and found Caylee. Then I think GPA placed her in the far corner of the back yard.

The calls we what - 45 minutes apart?

Sorry - just my opinion.

They HAD to have the car to find Amy's number to get Casey

SS, during that 1st call I think GM truly believed Casey was lying to her about Caylee being missing & was only trying to hurt her mom.

I think GM figured LE would show up about the car & the truth would come tumbling out about WHERE Caylee was being hidden.

During the hour, GM sounds like she realized it was NOT a bluff.... Caylee really was missing for 31 days & Cindy really didn't sound at all concerned.

GM is probably in SHOCK when she made that 2nd call.

It's in the affidavit, first responders noticed smell, GP or GM said pizza, they showed it to them in garbage.

Anybody know if George came back home today?

  • #480
there is one moment in that 911 call when Cyndy says

"There's something wrong...I found my daughters car today and it smells like there's been a dead body in the damn car"

It sounds like a moment of desperation when her thoughts may have gone to the worse...But then I am sure the denial about Casey doing such a thing and the hope that they will get Caylee back kicks in and has remained ever since...
