Also the George's story about the wheel chucks in the trunk makes no sense. Why would he keep tools in the car that his daughter used? Why wouldn't he use jack stands to rotate the tires? You need to have both the front and rear of the car on opposite sides off the ground at the same time to rotate tires.
Allow me to use your question to say something I observed about the grandparents (my comments are not directed to you dear Dorvillian, just taking your comment to further say something about the gp)
1. George might not have needed anything from Casey's car, he might just wanted to check her trunk because he was sure or suspecting she was the one who took the gaz cans. She stole from them many times before, and gaz also. Thinking it is embarrasing to say he was sure his daughter stole from him the gaz and told her he wanted to take something out of her car to ''trap'' her and check her car is something that is kinda understandable for someone not want to say.
2. Another example: When Cindi says she doesn't remember the last name of Caylee's father name she is not exactly lying. She just doesn't want to identify the family by name and bring them into this or have the media running after them. Especially since there is no DNA to prove that the boy who died was indeed the father. Why not say ''I know the name but don't want to comment?" Well here comes human psychology and public relations studies. This is the best unfortunately Cindi can think she can reply to the question and not say the name. But I don't see any sinister motives behind all that or pathological lying. I see a desperate need for a spokerperson.
3. I know the grandparents' reactions come of as deceptive or weird but I really don't think they are trying to sabotage the LE efforts to find Caylee. So far everybody involved in the case are saying the Anthony's are cooperating fully from the first moment. And they were the ones who called 911 and the ones who told the police that their daughter is hiding something.
I think the Anthony's are the kind of people spokerpersons have been created for but as I see it this is their only ''crime''. Not knowing what to say or not. Wanting to say the truth to the media but not wanting to say the whole truth (either because they don't want to bring other innocent people in this, or not wanting the media to focus on mother-daughter bad relationship, or father-daughter bad relationship, etc.) Yes their number one priority should be to want Caylee back and I believe it is their number one priority. But they just must believe it doesn't change anything in the case if the told the press who took the gaz cans (they did tell police) or the father's name, etc.
4. Also the Anthony's smiling and being overly positive and making statements that Caylee will be home for her birthday, the mom will be the mother of the year when everything is over, etc. Please understand them. We are not in their shoes. First of all they have to hold from a tiny tiny awful and tragic thread to the hope that the precious baby is coming back to them. Then no matter how much they see all the lies that Casey said and come to surface and we analyse here day after day,
THEY JUST HAVE TO HOLD ON TO THAT HOPE UNTIL THERE IS A BODY. They know Casey is lying. From the first phone call of Casey's to home, Cindy tells her she told so many lies it is her fault she is in jail. From the first phonecall. But how can the grandparents go out and make it seem that the baby is dead and people stop looking for the baby if there is a small tiny hope that the baby is somewhere unharmed? What loving grandparents could that that responsibility? They are just not ready to give up on the hope until the police tells them it is over.
5. The grandparents and the brother are also the ONLY PEOPLE right now that have an open channel of communication with Casey. And that channel seems to narrow day by day, by the way. Casey stopped talking to the police a long time ago. I know it is easy to say ''If I were Casey's mother I will go down to the jail and kick her azz to tell me where the baby is'' but if you were in the Anthony's shoes and your only hope to find what is going on was if Casey said something they have to play along. The Anthony's have no choice right now. Unfortunately their daughter is taking them on a horrible horrible ride of false hopes. Remember Cindi's interview about discussing possibilities of an accident happening? She says there is NO LOGIC in that happening because Casey wouldn't put them through all of this. Please understand this. There are going through this nightmare of wondering about the child and dealing with police, the media, not going to work, being stretched financially. How can they believe Casey is putting them through all of this instead of coming clean> She has been playing the grandparents and the police with the nanny abduction story.
However the police are not emotionally subjective, the LE are more cold and objective to say ''look the story is absolutely bull''. But the Anthony's are emotionally subjective to this, and this is why they can be manipulated by their daughter into hoping something absurd and obviously fabricated might have happened.
6 Right now even the police is telling the Anthony's not to take an attack stance towards Casey because the only thing the police can get out of Casey is through her parents. Remember the Trenton Duckett case? Police explained that they did not arrest Melinda because that would make her clam herself up and stop talking. While Melinda was out she kept talking to the media. Unfortunately Melinda killed herself and took with her whatever she knew about what happened to the boy. The decision to not put her in jail or put her in jail might have been wrong, but the premise is the same: the police does not want to severe communication with the POI. And since Casey has severed communications with LE, the parents is all there is available to police right now to keep her talking. And remember: Casey's lawyer even came out and said he suspects Lee is cooperating with the police against his client.
I apologise for the long post....but the only problem with the Anthony's is their awful public relations skills. Well this isn't a crime movie, where the victim's family is very collected and knows how to speak and pleade and behave and produce the right tears at the right time and the right anger on director's cue. Victims' family come in many shapes and forms and in this case, the Anthony's are not what we expect from the STEREOTYPE of how someone behaves when something like this happens. They did call the police, they did tell the police their daugther is a person of interest, they did gave evidence to the police, and they do still talk to the police. And if you notice they haven't hired a lawyer for themselves even though there were plenty of stories that the grandparents are in this, that they are hiding evidence, that they could have helped with a cover up, that they should be charged alongside Casey, etc.
