In this case though, it could have rang on her end but she didn't hear (asleep or outside) it then when it came time to leave a message, it went to the message that the phones were not in service and did not have the ability to leave a message.

Based on my own knowledge (from daughter cell phone tech specialist) If the phones were restricted for outgoing calls only, then any incoming calls that were unanswered would then go to VM just as they normally would. The person on the other end however could not retrieve that vm at least not from the restricted phone.

Like I said previously though, my daughter does not work for Verizon. Too bad we don't have a Verizon tech her telling us the ins and outs based on that service. If you guys know someone who works for Verizon then tell them to sign up with WS!! LOL

THIS is what intrigues me the most. This could make a BIG difference of where the phones could have physically been in any direction.

I remember when they were searching for Kelsey Smith, I think they said 500ft but that was a couple of years back. I'm not sure in the advancement of technology if it would be less now. Perhaps the only thing more accurate would be a smart phone iPhone etc with gps capability that would report very close specifics in locations. That may not be a factor though with tringulation pinging... And, we don't know how smart these phones were.

I don't know if this helps, but if you toss a working, charged cell phone at the base of its' service tower, it will ping within about 10 yards.

Using the triangulation of towers- and oh boy- I am really tired, so please forgive any typos- but the ping from 34th and Brighton was one phone is that correct?
The I-435 tower is the one by the holiday inn, correct? One would have to have been traveling north to toss there- or else pulled over at that stop. 210 would have been the next location. Is that correct?

I'm not sure how "accurate" this site is, but go look at the cell towers here:

Curious here as to where the 34 & Brighton ping info comes from. Is it fact or speculation? I just have not heard that precise spot before. Only withing 1/3 mile from the residence, that could be in any direction.

Not sure either, but will check with att, verizon, and tmobile again- so the 57 tower? has contracts with all. ugh.
I am growing to hate radius' everywhere, lol.

IMO IMO IMO speculation.

Why was it searched 3 times, and the final time included the National Guard? That's what I meant by that when speculating on the cell phone timeline and pings...

Where is the sprinkler house in respect to 34th and Brighton?

The National Guard was also in the area of Parvin RD and Jackson. They seemed far more intense (by my personal observation and opinion only) in this area on all 3 searches of it. That is the area that they seemed most concentrated on at first. When they were searching the creek they were concentrating on the area around Jackson and Milan by my very own observation.

Did we hear that the phones ever pinged anywhere else after the river?
How extensively has the river been searched?

To my knowledge we havenever heard they pinged AT the river. I have only heard of 1/3 mile from the house and maybe towards the river.

Do I believe LE told her her phone pinged in an area 1/3 mile from the house? Possibly. I thought she said both, that a call could not have been completed because the phone was restricted and she was sleeping.

The 1/3 radius info came from the lawyers, who said they were shown this info from the FBI. That the phones never pinged any further than that, along with the attempted call, the attempt to access vm and the accessing of the net. I agree Deb did say that her phone was restricted and she was sleeping, which people can believe or not, but some are disputing the attempted call/vm/net info from FBI or stating that it was Deb that did it. I just don't see how the lawyer would be lying about the info they got from FBI - why would he state the 1/3 mile radius, which could be more damaging for Deb...if it wasn't true? Therefore, I believe the entire interview (regarding the phones lol) is true.

Is the railway fenced all the way through? Is the river accessible other than on the bridges?

Are there cell phone records for the missing phones and do they tell us anything?

Not sure if anyone answered you or not (I'm behind) but the only info we have is from JP/JT/BS regarding the phone records that D/J get monthly, not having MW's # on either phone in the past year, http://www.myspace.com/video/565006329/lisa-irwin-bill-stanton-take-on-cellphones-11-11-11/108334627
and the deeper info of what the FBI showed the lawyers in their 3 hour meeting on Nov.1 regarding pings never leaving a 1/3 mile radius - the infamous MW call at 11:57, attempts to access vm, and internet use.

The railway isn't fenced itself, but the area just directly south of the end of Brighton is. If you go on down Birmingham on to the west there is an area where the river is much more accessible. If you are in a car, this can be done fairly quickly. If on foot and in the dark, not so much. It is not very well lit down there at night.

Re: the missing three cell phones. Why does it appear everyone is focused on pings and locations of just one?

Serious question.

Excellent question Oriah. Why would someone who had just stolen 3 phones only use one of them to try to make a call or to play around with the features.

I suppose it`s possible that DB`s was a smartphone and JI`s was not which would explain someone trying to access internet or voicemail. They may have been all over that phone trying out things. The 5 attempts to connect to the browser may have been just them hitting features that require an internet connection.

So while JI`s phone might not have been as fun to play with, why didn`t they at least try to place a call with it? How would they have known that all three phones were connected to the same plan and therefore none of them had service if one of them didn't?

Maybe it was the only one charged?
I dont know that this is the case, just something that would cover this.

If you have restricted service on your cell phone does it look different on the display screen? Or just normal and you have no way of telling until you try to call?

It was the closest wooded area within the 1/3 mile radius to hide a body IMO.
