Most long term disability policies that you would buy through an employer have a limit of 2 years. If you are not able to work after that, then SSI is the next step.
She has obviously not gone back to work so it's a safe assumption that she has got SSI disability or come into some money....
IIRC, Cindy's long term disability was supposed to have ended this past January, 2011. I think at that point, it's out of the hands of her employer. If she is unable to return to work, she would have had to applied for SSI.
However, I find it hard to believe they would approve her SSI when she is perfectly capable of working. I know someone who applied for SSI for her child, who legitimately deserves it, and she has gotten nothing but the run-around.
I would be so sad to think Cindy could so easily get disability when she is able to sit through hearings day after day, all day long, and my friend has had to jump through hoops and STILL hasn't been approved. Of course, she is not in Florida. Maybe it is easier in one state over another.
But I have to say, that I have been extremely curious how they are making their mortgage payments, etc. Cause we KNOW George hasn't gotten a job. Heck, he couldn't hold down a job BEFORE all this started. And he has the same sense of entitlement that Cindy has, anyway.
