No, during Juan's cross he specifically asked her if she returned it to the same Walmart where she bought it and she said yes. I think he even repeated it to make sure. I just re-watched some of the cross so it's fresh on my mind that's how I know for sure.

You're absolutely right. Someone posted the clip of her testifying that she returned it to the same WalMart a few pages back. Juan clearly asked her that and she said yes.

OK this time I'll say "pretty Please" does any one know who the lady is that is talking to JA at the end of the day? is she part of the DT?
TIA

Hi chijojo :seeya:

That woman is a mitigation specialist, which is a mandatory part of the defense team in a death penalty case. She has social work training and her role is to listen to the testimony, get to know the defendant, and construct a "social history" to ensure that the best possible testimony for the defendant is presented in the penalty phase. I'm simplifying a little, but that's the gist.

I'm watching now. I really can't stand the defense. That Wilmott sits there not caring a damn that a man was slaughtered. She's just smirky and hateful. Ick.

I cannot stand her Gitana. And I've been one of the ones saying "well she's just doing her job" but her behaviour these last couple of court days have pissed me off frankly. :banghead:

When the Arias trial is over, Martinez will move on to another high profile case, prosecuting former Phoenix Police officer Richard Chrisman.

Don't normally quote myself, but look what I found on this Chrisman case:

Source: Phoenix Killer Cop Richard Chrisman Will Sign "No Prison Time" Plea Deal; Family Settles

The OP-NAT EYE has learned from a source inside Maricopa County, that Phoenix killer cop Richard Chrisman will sign a “no prison time” plea agreement that will either be offered at a hearing this coming Wednesday or soon thereafter. The killer’s trial has been continued (postponed) eight times since October 5, 2010 — the day he shot and killed unarmed, 29-year-old Daniel Rodriguez and his dog. There is currently no trial date set at all in the matter. The source told us Chrisman will plead guilty to negligent homicide with an opportunity to have the charge expunged from his record after completing an unspecified term of probation. This will allow Chrisman to regain employment as a cop in another jurisdiction or even in Phoenix.

There it is, you decide which version of this case is true. :floorlaugh:

A few things I thought were important in the closing today:

Juan did a great job showing lie after lie after lie.

He pointed out "She lied to YOU. She is trying to manipulate YOU."

He went over how she refuses to accept blame for ANYTHING.

He reminded them (although I doubt the forgot) about the 25 cal. being "stolen" from Grandpa a week before killing.

He said IF you believe it was TA's that means that is another crime because she admits removing it from the home. (LOL that lie really bit her in the butt)

He walked them through the whole premeditation timeline.

He pointed out that Mormon beliefs are not on trial, she is Mormon also and Travis was a young, unmarried NORMAL man.

So many more, but loved the close.

BBM

I agree that TA was normal. But premarital sex is not allowed in the Mormon church. Mimi Hall was a prosecution witness and JM asked her about the sin of fornication and the penalties. I am still not sure why Mimi Hall was called to testify. She was just a friend. Why did the jury need to know about Mormon sin? Then, Nancy Grace ran with it with her "Mormon Lovers" crap.

Please let them wrap this up tomorrow :please: I have to go to Jackson for a week on Monday for my kid's 2nd round of chemo....and I dare anyone to get between me and seeing that verdict.

O/T My son's hair coming out is freaking me out. I don't know what to say to him, hell what can you say?! I am taking him to get a crew cut tomorrow and buying this hat...

God bless you and your precious son. He's a warrior and you are a warrior mom. No one suffers like a mom does when their kid is sick.
Tell him there are quite a few websleuthers who are cheering him on in the battle he's going to win.

Okay...another defense attorney just gave his :twocents:

According to him, it cannot be premeditated because nobody would steal a gun, then drive 1000 miles to kill someone with a knife.

I must be dumber four months into this mess, because I honestly don't understand this. Anyone willing to help decode? TIA.

That's a good question. I do think she had a fascination with the Psycho scene and maybe wanted the gun in case the knife failed.

I have no idea how nor do I ever want to shoot a gun. On the lighter side, have any of you seen "Going in Style" with George Burns, Art Carney, and Lee Stratsburg? Hilarious. Watch the trailer.

Did we ever hear where the $800 cash deposits came from? I think one was $400, one $300, and one $100. I forget the details, but where did she get the money, DB?
Paul Stern (a guy she knew from an Internet cafe in the Ventana Inn-Big Sur) loaned her money a day or two before she left on the fateful road trip.

I'm so glad he brought up the 45 second creeper stare. All these little details you might think had gone unnoticed, he's bringing up. Awesome.

Oh yeah, and she hated it when he said it. JM knows how to push her buttons. JD did too. The first time we saw her doing the intense, fevered drawing or writing was when JD started her testimony. The next time was today. She can't handle the TRUTH!

This crime scene photo bugs me. What was the duct tape and rope for?

Maybe that is what bought at CVS, and used it to tie Travis down while giving orders with the gun in her hand?

Some here have said it was that special thing he would wear around his arm. IDK

And thanks to Nurmi and Jodi Arias heads up, I hope he went and checked how many walmarts there are in Selinas and when they opened, and re-read all of Jodi's testimony saying clearly that she took it to that same walmart.

You know what? I WANT Nurmi to say she went to another store. Make it obvious to the jury that the DT thinks they're gullible and stupid. And that the DT will lie to the even when their lies has been exposed.

:banghead:

So. I guess I won't be watching Nurmi today.

ITA
I think Willy is as narcissitic as JA is. I also don't think she cares a rip about JA either, only about herself and making a name for herself. Oh, and the pay helps a bit :)

OK after googleing mitigation specialist, I've learned that her main responsibilty is to keep the defense team from looking like complete idiots.
I don't think she's doing her job very well.
MOO

No, I know there is a lot of discussion of whether or not the sex happened and whether he was being held at gunpoint in the shower. First of all, I don't think it would be possible for her to have held him at gunpoint for so long...he would have overpowered her or somehow done something to get away- that is PRECISELY what she was afraid of which is why she eventually did it when he was surrounded and defenseless in the shower. Second, we have the timestamped photos and, as Juan always says about things, we can't somehow go beyond and infer some other thing that we don't see any evidence of in the pics. Third, as far as the shower pics it is very clear to me that he's posing in all of them, even the face shot. In the face shot, I don't see any fear I just see him trying to make his face look exactly like the "Calvin Klein" thing she wanted. That's what I see. He did not know any of it was coming, and that's EXACTLY what she wanted.

I cannot stand there Gitana. And I've been one of the ones saying "well she's just doing her job" but her behaviour these last couple of court have pissed me off frankly. :banghead:

Oh, I;m watching the worst of it right this moment and she just stares at the most horrible photos with this evil desire to just win. Not even one iota of sympathy for a man who was slaughtered.

She has done a good job for her client. It won\'t matter but she;s done what she can with what she has. But i think she is a hateful person. Personally, I cannot stand her.

I'm so sorry to hear about your son. If you don't mind, what kind of cancer? We have a dear friend who was found to have cancer at 4 MONTHS old. It was in her abdomen. She was in the hospital for a year but survived.

She just had her 5th birthday and they found out two days later the cancer has returned. She just lost all of her hair last week (after her 3rd chemo treatment). She was very sad as she is old enough to know she looks differently than her friends now. We have made her (and are making more) cute little hats with flowers etc and that has helped. We just keep telling her that her beauty (or handsome good looks in your sons case :) ) don't depend on her hair. She is beautiful because of her beautiful heart that shines through her smiles. She is getting more used to it and even took off her hat at the park today because she was too hot. All of the kids there handled it so well. Brought tears to my eyes.

Love, hugs and healing to your son and all who love him!

Thanks so much! It is osteosarcoma in his right arm below his shoulder joint. He has to do 13 weeks of chemo and then major surgery....then more chemo. I know it's so selfish to say but I never thought this would happen to my son. He is 12 years old and is really having a hard time with this. He keeps most of his worries and fears locked up in his head.

BBM~ And i'll bet Nurmi will be sure to bring this up in his closing.

Oh boy, guys. I;m watching Travis' extended family just sobbing, jodi pretending to cry, but still sneaking peeks, and wilmott clinically taking notes and staring hard at horrid photos. This is awful.

But my heart is filled with serious admiration of Juan Martinez. This IS personal to him. He is fighting the good fight for someone whose voice was cut from their body with a knife. Wow.

My hubby and I just finished watching the CA and he remarked about how agonizing it is to see his siblings in anguish. I said "what you're seeing is true PTSD."
