GUILTY CO - Angela Craig, 43, mother of 6, allegedly poisoned by cyanide in protein shake by dentist husband, Aurora, Mar 2023 @2

  • #81
Oh pleez…..

As a detective and attorneys read parts of Angela’s journal, defendant James Craig looked like he was crying. It’s the first time I’ve seen this in the trial.

I am sitting behind James Craig. His back is to me. He appeared to lean forward and his body shook.

I could see him using a tissue on his face as parts of the journal were read. Here are parts of that journal that were read in court. Some of these statements are paraphrased and not direct quotes.

I feel like our good times were a lie. I feel betrayed. The good times were a lie. He was a lie. I don’t feel safe. It’s taking everything I have to stay out of his email today. I’m not ready to give that amount of trust again.

I'm shattered for Angela-- and her surviving children especially.

Married to JC for 23 years, she spent her entire adult life with this monster! He's a textbook gaslighter, narcissist, who prayed on Angela's emotions for decades-- and relied on her humanity to repeat his gross behavior without recourse.

Except we do better when we know better. For the first time, Angela told her sister she was waiting until after Christmas to take action against her 23 marriage. Although JC talked her out of this, and swore her to secrecy (could not share w/sister), I have no doubt that had Angela lived past March 18, 2023, she would have soon confided in her sister and followed through with her plans to break away from JC.

IMO, JC felt Angela getting stronger too. We know the most dangerous time for women in abusive relationships is when they are preparing to leave.

Reminds me of Suzanne Morphew --"what was my younger self thinking?"

I think we might see Dr. Death take the stand. Thinking he can bamboozle the jury with his slippery words.

I don't think the Defense has anyone else to call.

Assisted suicide... that the dying person didn't know about. That's a new one.

There's another name for it though. Homicide.

He's fooling no one.

I think he may try to testify too.

There are so many things in his bizarre story that doesn’t make any sense….

But the biggest thing is this ridiculous suicide story. Do you really think if Angela actually wanted to commit suicide that she would have let this go on for weeks suffering as she did the whole time? The answer is no. The jury will get it.

Dont like to correct Carol McKinley as she's been around for a very long time and I highly respect her reporting, but I believe it should read "former dentist." His dental license was revoked in March 2023.

I also believe I am reading too much into Carol's post. ;)

I don't think the jury will be much impressed with his "Dr" title.

XXXI. James Craig Trial — JOURNAL ENTERED INTO EVIDENCE
Exhibit AAA is admitted. Angela Craig’s handwritten journal is presented in full. Seven excerpts—AAA 1 through 7—will be published. Moses begins cross by confirming these pages reflect years of marital turmoil.

XXXII. James Craig Trial — “I FEEL ABUSED, WORTHLESS, UNWANTED”
Jan 8, 2009 — Angela writes:“I feel so lost and so alone… I feel abused, worthless, unwanted, and unloved.”She says she looks at Jim and feels nothing. Her mother nags her to eat, but she can’t.

XXXIII. James Craig Trial — “SATAN CANNOT HAVE ME”
Jan 13, 2009 — Angela frames her suffering in spiritual terms:“Satan cannot have me… He will not destroy me with hopelessness and self-doubt.”She lists painful doubts:“He doesn’t want me. He’d rather be with someone else.”

XXXIV. James Craig Trial — “THE GOOD TIMES WERE A LIE”
Jan 20, 2009 — Angela:“I feel like the good times were a lie. He was a lie.”She describes mourning a marriage that feels fake. She avoids checking his email to prove she can trust—though she admits she isn’t ready.

XXXV. James Craig Trial — “HE DOESN’T LOVE ME… I DON’T BLAME HIM”
Feb 2018 — Angela:“I failed him… He left me… and I don’t blame him.”She blames herself, notes she gets too defensive, and calls her pain ongoing. Another affair is hinted, but he won’t admit it.

XXXVI. James Craig Trial — “HE’S LEARNING TO RECOVER”
Mar 7, 2018 — Angela:“Jim met with his new addiction counselor… It went so well.”She writes he’s learning about addiction patterns. This entry reflects rare hope—he might finally change.

XXXVII. James Craig Trial — “IT ALMOST KILLED ME”
Mar 2018 — Angela:“It almost killed me when he said he didn’t love me, and I wasn’t enough.”
She questions:“Did he hold her like she was magical?”
The pain of continued affairs is raw and unresolved.

XXXVIII. James Craig Trial — “I JUST WANT TO CRY MYSELF TO SLEEP”
Apr 2, 2018 — Angela:“All I want to do is crawl into bed and cry myself to sleep.”
She has begun seeing a therapist weekly. Despite therapy, she admits she doesn’t know if she should “give in or push through.”

XXXIX. James Craig Trial — URGENT TEXT TO REDFORD
James Craig texted Ryan Redford on March 16 at 8:30 AM, just before police seized his phone:“If we were ever friends… please don’t talk to anybody about what we talked about last night, including law enforcement… You are under no obligation unless subpoenaed.”

XL. James Craig Trial — EXHIBIT DELAY STALLS COURTROOM
The defense encountered technical difficulties while attempting to display exhibits during cross-examination. We're waiting as the issue is being addressed.

XLI. James Craig Trial — THE PILL BOTTLE & THE LAPTOPS
On March 15, Dr. Craig returned home midday. Angela had already been hospitalized. He didn’t clean the now-infamous Shaker bottle, which contained clindamycin and possibly cyanide. He left it sitting out—unwashed, unrinsed.

XLII. James Craig Trial — HOURS NOT DAYS TO SEARCH
Detectives searched the Craig home early March 16. They arrived around 8 a.m. and left by noon—just 3–4 hours later. Though the warrant allowed 14 days, they released the scene within hours, despite the home's extensive contents: multiple medicines, protein powders, documents.

XLIII. James Craig Trial — LAPTOPS LEFT BEHIND
The defense pointed out that several laptops and devices were visible in Craig’s home—on a desk in the “music room” and master bedroom. Yet investigators did not seize them. Detective couldn’t recall what one device even was, and confirmed it wasn’t taken.

XLIV.James Craig Trial — THE UNTOUCHED DEVICES
“Is that a laptop or iPad?”
“Yes.”
“Was it taken?”
“No.”
“Do we know what’s on it?”
“No.”
Defense also showed a photo of Angela Craig beside a computer. That device was never recovered either.

XLV. James Craig Trial — THE UNSEIZED IPAD
In the main bathroom, the detective identified what appeared to be a laptop or iPad.
It was never seized. No one knows what was on it.

XLVI. James Craig Trial — SYRINGES IN THE DRAWER
Exhibit W showed a bathroom drawer containing syringes and medications meant to be injected. The detective confirmed their presence. He could not identify some vials shown in the photo.

XLVII. James Craig Trial — THE CLINDAMYCIN BOTTLE
Exhibit 154: the infamous clindamycin bottle. It was photographed on March 16, the morning after Angela Craig’s death. Detective confirmed it had not been moved—and had not been collected.

XLVIII. James Craig Trial — LEFT BEHIND IN FIRST SEARCH
Despite the first search warrant allowing seizure of medication, the clindamycin bottle remained. It sat untouched even after Craig returned home midday March 15.

XLIX. James Craig Trial — SECOND WARRANT TARGETED THE BOTTLE
A second search warrant was later issued. Its target: the clindamycin bottle. Detective confirmed he did not participate in that second search. Other officers from his office carried it out.

L. James Craig Trial — CLINDAMYCIN: WRONG YEAR?
A second search was conducted March 22. Law enforcement must document what they seize. Defense Exhibit JJ lists one bottle of clindamycin. But it was a 2019 prescription—not 2023. That’s the one they took

LI. James Craig Trial — MISSING DATES ON SEIZED LIST
Defense pointed out that Exhibit JJ, the itemized list of seized materials, doesn’t include dates. No way to know which prescription year each bottle came from—just the names. The detective confirmed this.

LII. James Craig Trial — WHO CHECKED THE TRASH?
Did officers search the trash for other clindamycin bottles? The detective didn’t know—he wasn’t there. No confirmation that any other bottles, newer or otherwise, were even looked for.

LIII. James Craig Trial — THE CAMERA IN THE CUPBOARD
On March 16, police found a hidden camera on top of the cupboard. It had video and audio. That’s the source of the footage showing drawers opening, people moving around, and Craig using the counter. The view was occasionally blocked by the tablet.

LIV. James Craig Trial — EXHIBIT H: THE VIEWPOINT
Defense Exhibit H shows the straight-on view from that hidden camera. You can clearly see the counter, cabinets, and the fridge.Detective confirms that footage matches this exact angle.

LV. James Craig Trial — DRAWERS & COUNTER ACTIVITY
The hidden video shows various people opening drawers and moving around the counter space. The detective confirmed that officers were actively handling items in that specific area.

LVI. James Craig Trial — THE MICROWAVE MOMENT
Defense asks about Craig being seen on video placing something in the microwave. The microwave sits on the other side of the fridge—out of the hidden cam’s direct view, but referenced earlier.

LVII. James Craig Trial — ARSENIC + MICROWAVE?
Defense brings up prior testimony that arsenic is a metal. Then asks the detective what happens when metal is microwaved.Prosecutor objects immediately — says the question is speculative and calls for expert testimony under Rule 7.2.

LVIII. James Craig Trial — OBJECTION SUSTAINED
When defense asked what happens if arsenic (a metal) is microwaved, the prosecution objected. They argued the question was speculative and required expert testimony. The judge sustained the objection.

LIX. James Craig Trial — THE BLOOD PRESSURE SEARCHES
Dr. Craig's work laptop was searched by investigators. On March 9, 2023, he made several key Google searches—all before Angela Craig's condition drastically worsened.

LX. James Craig Trial — WHAT HE GOOGLED
7:24 AM: “What to know about low blood pressure”
7:25 AM: “Is low blood pressure dangerous”
7:48 AM: “How to raise blood pressure”
10:29 AM: “What does it mean when systolic and diastolic are close together”

LXI. James Craig Trial — TIMING MATTERS
Angela Craig was already experiencing low blood pressure at this time. The fact these searches happened before hospitalization raises flags about premeditation.

LXII. James Craig Trial — PROSECUTION MOVES FAST
As soon as this line of questioning began, the prosecution requested a sidebar. The defense was pointing to digital evidence that may imply prior knowledge of Angela’s condition.

LXIII. James Craig Trial — SIDEBAR CALLED
As the defense walked the jury through Craig’s March 9 blood pressure searches, the prosecution jumped in.

LXIV. James Craig Trial — SUSTAINED & MOVING ON
After the prosecution’s sidebar request, the judge sustained the objection. The defense was blocked from continuing the blood pressure line of questioning.

LXV. James Craig Trial — SEARCHES ON MARCH 6
The defense walked jurors through Craig’s laptop activity from March 6, 2023. 7:28 AM — Search: “Nine causes of dizziness and blurred vision all about vision” 7:27 AM — Search: “Eyes moving slow, lethargic, weak symptoms

LXVI. James Craig Trial — RYAN HAIGHT ACT & ONLINE MEDS
The jury then heard about a March 1 search referencing the Ryan Haight Act. The law prohibits psychiatrists from prescribing controlled substances online without an in-person visit. Craig had been researching online pharmacies—raising questions about motive and method.

LXVII. James Craig Trial — LUNCH RECESS
Court broke for lunch at 12:00 PM. The jury is set to return at 1:15 PM to continue hearing testimony.

Court is back in session. Detective Bobbi Olson returns to the stand as cross-examination continues.

LIX. James Craig Trial — NO CONFRONTATION, NO JOURNAL
On March 15, Dr. Craig didn’t argue or resist when told he couldn’t re-enter his home. Detective Olson confirms: “No reports of such.”Only one Angela Craig journal was recovered—Exhibit AAA. Nothing dated after 2018.

LX. James Craig Trial — THE SEARCHED COMPUTER
The family’s computer was seized and brought to Aurora PD. Olson says they looked for a forensic expert to analyze it, but couldn’t find one fast enough. So, they opened it themselves before any forensic process began.

LXI. James Craig Trial — BODYCAM VIDEO ADMITTED
Defense Exhibit GG, a bodycam video showing the computer being turned on, was admitted.Olson confirms the footage shows the team accessing the laptop’s contents directly.

LXII. James Craig Trial — THE J IN THE CORNER
When they opened the laptop, a Gmail icon with “J” appeared.Olson confirms the system logged in via a Summer Brook staff account, then revealed “[email protected].”Exhibit HH (screenshot) admitted into evidence.

LXIII. James Craig Trial — DEFENSE CHALLENGES TIMING
Defense presses Olson: Was that screen automatically displayed or accessed through browser history?Olson concedes it came up after accessing browser history.Detective

LXIV. James Craig Trial — NO SOUND ON THE BODYCAM
The bodycam video has no audio. Olson confirms it was muted by the user.Jury sees footage of the tech officer handling the laptop, screen showing login and Gmail activity.

LXV. James Craig Trial — CRAIG’S TIMELINE MATCHES HOME FOOTAGE
Detective Olson confirms Craig left the hospital around 11:30 AM. Surveillance shows he returned home shortly after. Nothing inside had changed—shaker and pill bottle were still there. No sign of tampering.

LXVI. James Craig Trial — MARK PRAY’S TEXTS SHOW NO CONCERN
Olson confirms Craig texted Mark and Renee Pray asking if they wanted food. Mark replied “starving” and sent a humorous emoji. Olson saw no texts suggesting worry about Craig’s absence or demanding where he was.

LXVII. James Craig Trial — EXIT USED BY ALL THREE WITNESSES
Olson confirms Craig, Mark Pray, and Renee Pray all used the same hallway exit at the hospital. She also pointed out a sharps container in that hall but admitted it was never checked due to biohazard and lab refusal.

LXVIII. James Craig Trial — NO SHARPS CONTAINERS WERE INSPECTED
Despite knowing sharps containers were in Angela Craig’s hospital room and hallway, Olson admits she never checked them. She agreed they could be opened to look inside, but no such effort was made.

LXVIII. James Craig Trial — NO SHARPS CONTAINERS WERE INSPECTED
Despite knowing sharps containers were in Angela Craig’s hospital room and hallway, Olson admits she never checked them. She agreed they could be opened to look inside, but no such effort was made.

LXVIII. James Craig Trial — NO SHARPS CONTAINERS WERE INSPECTED
Despite knowing sharps containers were in Angela Craig’s hospital room and hallway, Olson admits she never checked them. She agreed they could be opened to look inside, but no such effort was made.

LXIX. James Craig Trial — MOUSE JIGGLER KEPT COMPUTER AWAKE
Olson confirms Exhibit 75 includes home surveillance recorded via body-worn camera. A mouse jiggler kept Craig’s screen active to allow continuous recording. Background audio and on-screen elements came from the officer’s body cam, not the home system.

LXX. James Craig Trial — VIDEO SKIPS CONFIRMED ON ALL DAYS
Olson says gaps exist in all surveillance clips, including a 12-minute gap on March 7 during a key conversation. She confirms those skips were present before police recorded the footage. They were not caused by the body cam.

LXXI. James Craig Trial — FEB 20: CLOSE AND AFFECTIONATE
The defense played multiple clips from Feb 20. Detective Olson confirmed James and Angela Craig were “pretty darn close” behind the refrigerator. She agreed they appeared affectionate and intimate throughout the morning.

LXXII. James Craig Trial — “ON ANGELA’S BACK AREA”
Olson confirmed that in one Feb 20 video, James Craig’s hand is seen on Angela’s back. In another from the same day, the two again appear physically close. She answered yes to every question suggesting affection or warmth.

LXXIII. James Craig Trial — FEB 26: BACK FROM WORK, LOVING AGAIN
Video from Feb 26 shows James bending toward Angela as she sits on the couch. Olson agreed it was a routine for Craig to come home mid-day. She confirmed frequent back-and-forth between home and work. “That’d be accurate,” she said.

LXXIV. James Craig Trial — FEB 27: 6:44 AM, STILL LOVING
More video from Feb 27 showed the couple once again being physically affectionate. Olson confirmed seeing this. When asked if they looked “loving,” she again answered yes. No hesitation. No contradiction.

LXXV. James Craig Trial — FEB 28–MARCH 5: NO SIGNS OF TENSION
Clips from Feb 28 (PP) and March 5 (QQ and RR) all show James Craig either hugging or touching Angela gently. Olson confirmed his hand was on Angela at the table, and that he hugged her on March 5. No signs of stress or conflict.

LXXVI. James Craig Trial — MARCH 6: KISSING ON THE LIPS
Olson confirmed that on March 6 at 6:30 AM, James and Angela kissed on the lips. This was the same day Angela first complained of feeling sick. The kiss happened hours before any symptoms became visible to others.

LXXVII. James Craig Trial — MARCH 7: SITTING CLOSE, UNKNOWN COMPUTER
In the March 7 clip, James and Angela are side by side on the couch with a computer in front of them. Olson couldn’t identify the computer or confirm whether it was ever searched. She gave no further insight.

LXXVIII. James Craig Trial — EQUAL LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES
The defense got Det. Olson to confirm James and Angela Craig had equal life insurance policies. Nothing new or suspiciously added. “It wasn’t a fresh one,” Olson agreed. No excessive coverage favoring James over Angela.

LXXIX. James Craig Trial — NO DEBT, NO PRESSURE
Olson confirmed: the Craigs had no mortgage, paid credit cards and bills on time, and faced no collection activity—except for some unresolved IRS debt. Defense stressed their financial situation wasn’t desperate or strained.

LXXX. James Craig Trial — A MILLION-DOLLAR ASSET
The family home was fully paid off and worth over a million dollars. Car payments were up to date. Olson had no info suggesting repossessions or creditor threats. Defense implied no financial motive for murder.

LXXXI. James Craig Trial — SHE WAS ALREADY IN THE HOSPITAL
Olson confirmed Angela Craig went to the emergency room on March 6. Defense pushed this timeline to counter prosecution claims about events on March 9. Olson did not dispute the March 6 ER admission.

LXXXII. James Craig Trial — NO VIDEO FROM SUMMERBROOK
Detective Olson admitted no surveillance video was obtained from Summerbrook. She said this was based on witness Caitlin Romero’s information and confirmed nothing useful was recovered despite checking.

LXXXIII. James Craig Trial — LAPTOPS AND TABLETS NOT SEARCHED
Olson acknowledged: the laptop seen next to Angela in bed was never recovered or searched. Other electronics in the home were minimally reviewed. One iPad was recovered and searched, but not all visible devices were examined.

LXXXIV. James Craig Trial — OTHER MESSAGING APPS UNCHECKED
Despite Caitlin Romero stating she and James texted on another platform, Olson admitted she never confirmed which one. Defense pushed the point that this angle wasn’t thoroughly investigated.

LXXXV. James Craig Trial — KATIE NEVER INTERVIEWED
Olson confirmed the woman who supposedly opened the poison package—Katie—was never interviewed. Even though her full name was known, no follow-up was done. Defense implied major leads were ignored.

LXXXVI. James Craig Trial — SEARCH WARRANTS LIMITED, BUT NOT PURSUED
Olson admitted the initial search warrants were limited to February—but acknowledged she could’ve gone back to a judge to expand them, as she did for the house. Defense asked: why not do the same for the phone? Olson replied: “No.”

LXXXVII. James Craig Trial — PLATFORM NEVER IDENTIFIED
Romero admitted she and James Craig messaged on another platform, but Det. Olson never asked which one. Olson claimed Romero denied a sexual relationship, but the actual messaging app was never verified or followed up on.

LXXXVIII. James Craig Trial — THE WOMAN WHO OPENED THE PACKAGE
Olson confirmed she had the full name of “Katie,” the person who supposedly opened the package—but never interviewed her. Defense pressed: major potential witness, ignored. Olson simply said, “We did not.”

LXXXIX. James Craig Trial — WARRANTS COULD’VE BEEN EXPANDED
Olson admitted that initial warrants only covered from early February onward. But she also confirmed: yes, she could have gone back to the judge to request expanded access—as she did for the house. But she never did for the phone.

XC. James Craig Trial — URGENT CARE NAME IGNORED
Olson said she didn’t know which urgent care Angela Craig visited. But defense pointed out:1. Credit card showed a charge to Saddle Rock Urgent Care.2. Angela’s daughter drove her there.Olson never followed up with the driver to confirm location.

XCI. James Craig Trial — URGENT CARE NOT FOLLOWED UP
Olson confirmed there were only a few urgent care centers in the area. Yet the team never subpoenaed any medical records from any of them. She admitted: “Correct,” none were collected.

XCII. James Craig Trial — WHO WENT WHERE AND WHEN
Olson clarified:• March 6: Angela Craig went to Parker Adventist ER with James Craig
• March 7: Angela went to Saddle Rock Urgent Care with daughter Annabelle
Olson confirmed James Craig did not go with her on the 7th.

XCIII. James Craig Trial — MARCH 7 ARGUMENT VS. CARE
March 7 was key. Olson confirmed:
• James Craig argued with Angela that day
• But did not take her to urgent care
• Annabelle did.Yet the state never pulled records from Saddle Rock for that date.

XCIV. James Craig Trial — THERAPY RECORDS IGNORED
Olson acknowledged she heard Angela had seen a therapist—but never asked friends who it was, never tried to get records, and claims no one knew. She testified: “That was another thing she kept private.”

XCV. James Craig Trial — MISSING DIGITAL EVIDENCE CROSS ENDS
Defense asked: How many emails did Angela Craig have?
Olson: “I do not [know].”
Do you know her iCloud login?
Olson: “That would’ve been on our phone download.”
No indication they pursued or accessed her full iCloud records.

XCVI. James Craig Trial — POST-VEGAS INTIMACY DOESN’T ERASE PACT
Redirect begins.
Prosecution asks: were the affectionate photos from both before and after James Craig’s Las Vegas trip?
Olson: “Yes.”That’s the trip after which James said he returned home, asked for a divorce, and entered a “secret suicide pact.”

XCVII. James Craig Trial — TIMING OF PHONE REVIEW MATTERS
Olson confirms she did not have James Craig’s phone when Angela crashed on March 15.
She seized it March 16—but didn’t review its content until the 20th or 21st.
They had no knowledge yet of the sharps container claims when hospital evidence could’ve been secured.

XCVIII. James Craig Trial — CRAIG SAID HE POCKETED THE SYRINGE
Prosecution: Did Craig ever say he disposed of the syringe in Angela’s sharps container?
Olson: “No.”He said he picked it up and put it in his pocket.
So the defense questions about not searching that container fall flat.

XCIX. James Craig Trial — VOLUNTEERED DEVICE ≠ HIDDEN DEVICE
Craig gave them the password to the benign-seeming laptop.
Olson: “He never said, ‘Oh by the way, you might want to check computer number 9.’”
The state argues: hiding in plain sight doesn't mean pointing detectives to all potential evidence.

C. James Craig Trial — NO INDICATION OTHER DEVICES HAD EVIDENCE
Olson confirms they didn’t seize all electronics because they had no reason to suspect evidence was on them. They also didn’t yet have the surveillance footage. That wasn’t collected until March 21.Reviewing all the video took months.

CI. James Craig Trial — HOUSE NOT HELD INDEFINITELY
Why not hold the home for longer?
Olson: “We had no reason to do so.”By the time Craig came back on March 15, there was no evidence he had tampered with items on the nightstand. And no proof he cleared computer search histories.

CII. James Craig Trial — ANGELA’S JOURNAL: NO SUICIDE MENTION
Angela Craig’s journal stopped in 2018. Olson says it had blank pages, but there’s no reference to suicide anywhere. There are entries citing Craig’s deception—including in 2009, before the couple’s youngest children were even born.

CIII. James Craig Trial — 2018 ENTRY: UNHAPPY MARRIAGE
Redirect ends with the March 7, 2018 journal entry.Angela wrote that James Craig said he was “dissatisfied and unhappy in his marriage.”State’s implication: Craig had long been hiding discontent—undermining the “suicide pact” theory.

CVIII. James Craig Trial — DEFENSE MOVES TO ACQUIT
As soon as the jury left the room, the defense wasted no time:
“We are asking the court to dismiss Count 4.”
They also requested judgment of acquittal on all counts
—but made it clear they would rest on the record for everything except Count 4.
Their core argument:“No reasonable juror, based on the evidence presented, would be likely to convict.”

CIX. James Craig Trial — DEFENSE RESPONDS TO MOTION TO ACQUIT
The defense moved to dismiss Count 4, arguing no reasonable juror could convict based on the evidence. They requested a judgment of acquittal on all counts—but focused on Count 4.

CX. James Craig Trial — COUNT 4 = WITNESS TAMPERING?
Count 4 involves Craig allegedly attempting to persuade Mr. Walbin to falsify testimony. Prosecution response: “Every piece of evidence is part of a broader course of conduct. Count 4 must go to the jury.”

CXI. James Craig Trial — EXHIBIT 43: THE LETTER
Prosecutors point to Exhibit 43, a letter Craig wrote from jail. It outlines what Mr. Walbin was supposed to say and contains case-specific facts showing Craig's intent to interfere with justice.

CXII. James Craig Trial — WITNESS TESTIMONY SUPPORTS IT
Jennifer Harriman, jail staff, testified to receiving the returned letter and opening it. Annabelle Craig, Craig’s daughter, confirmed the handwriting was her father’s.

CXIII. James Craig Trial — JURY GETS TO COMPARE
The state said the jury can compare the letter to other samples of Craig’s handwriting.“This is exactly the kind of thing juries decide. There’s more than enough for Count 4 to go to them.”

CXIV. James Craig Trial — MOTION DENIED
Judge rules there’s substantial evidence on all six counts. He denies the defense’s motion for judgment of acquittal. The case now goes fully to the jury.

CXV. James Craig Trial — COUNT 4 STAYS
Judge rejects isolating Count 4. Says the evidence shows a pattern of interference by Craig: attempts to falsify evidence, disrupt justice, and manipulate testimony.

CXVI. James Craig Trial — EXHIBIT 43 MATTERS
Judge cites Exhibit 43, the letter to Mr. Walbin, as showing intent. It outlines specific instructions to falsify testimony and contains details only the defendant would know.

CXVII. James Craig Trial — WITNESS SUPPORT
Jail staffer Jennifer Harriman testified she received and opened the letter. Craig’s daughter Annabelle confirmed it’s his handwriting. Judge says the jury can compare it themselves.

CXVIII. James Craig Trial — ATTEMPT IS ENOUGH
Judge emphasizes: Even though the letter never reached Walbin, attempting to persuade someone to lie under oath is enough. Jury must assess if it meets the legal standard.

CXIX. James Craig Trial — LEGAL STANDARD
Court applies the correct legal test: Is there enough evidence for a reasonable juror to convict beyond a reasonable doubt? Judge says yes, on both quantity and quality.

CXX. James Craig Trial — NOT THE 13TH JUROR
Judge notes: “The court is not the 13th juror.” It’s not his job to weigh credibility—that’s the jury’s role. The jury must decide if Craig’s conduct amounts to witness tampering.

CXXI. James Craig Trial — ALL COUNTS TO JURY
The court rules the evidence on Counts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 is legally sufficient. All six counts will be submitted to the jury for a final verdict.

James Craig Trial — Judge is having tech issues so here's what Defense cited for its Motion of Acquittal

CXII. James Craig Trial — DEFENSE MOVES TO ACQUIT
Defense formally requests judgment of acquittal on all counts, arguing no reasonable jury could convict based on the evidence. But they focus especially on Count 4: witness tampering.

CXIII. James Craig Trial — COUNT 4 TARGETED
Defense says Count 4 lacks sufficient evidence. They argue that just because a letter was intercepted doesn’t prove Craig successfully tried to tamper with a witness. No testimony from Walbin. No delivery.

CXIV. James Craig Trial — REST ON RECORD
On Counts 1–3 and 5–6, the defense simply “rests on the record,” meaning they believe the state’s own evidence proves the case is too weak to send to a jury. No specific arguments raised beyond Count 4.

CXV. James Craig Trial — JURY INSTRUCTIONS
With the defense’s motion for acquittal denied, the court moves on: “I think the next issue we need to move on to is to kind of complete our jury instruction conference.”Both sides now working with the judge to finalize what the jury will be told before deliberations begin.

CXVI. James Craig Trial — Judge & Attorneys are discussing the charges to present to the Jury

James Craig Trial — Instructions have been agreed upon. Attorney to receive them & review If changes need to be made, it'll be tomorrow And this truly ends my coverage for the day. See y'all tomorrow for closing arguments.
