I cannot believe it is going to be 2021 and this trial has not even started. I don't think I've ever seen a trial delayed and rescheduled this much.

Did you follow the murders of the McStay family? I think there were similar delays, even without Covid to blame for it.

I did! One of the most intriguing trials I have ever watched. I still watch and listen to it.
If Mark Redwine was arrested in 2017 and we are at the dawn 2021, I believe it is now just as long as the McStay trial waited (arrest in 2014, trial in 2019). Chase Merritt was able to use stall tactics over and over again to delay the inevitable. Mark Redwine's prosecution seems to be delayed with more court dates. Either way, it must be so painful for Elaine and Cory! I cannot even imagine the pain they are in! So long as in the end he is sentenced to take his last breath behind bars, justice will be served!

I am in wonder at a court system that could fail first Dylan by making him visit that terrible man and now a court system failing to hold him accountable for the death of his son. Poor Elaine. I bet she wishes she had never laid eyes on such a horrible person that really ruined her life.

Where does Mark get the money to keep this going. I'm pretty sure he's not using a Public Defender so a trial attorney would be big bucks.

Judge sets January 2021 trial date for Mark Redwine following mistrial

Mark has attorneys from the public defenders office. Haven't heard about any paid private lawyers being hire.

The mistrial declared Monday in the latest attempt at a trial for Redwine came because some of Redwine’s public defenders were showing symptoms of COVID-19, they said in a motion to the court, and would need to quarantine for 10-14 days even if they did not test positive based on protocols from the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender and state public health department.

@RANCH - sorry but both those articles you posted are old. The first one is from Nov. 13 & the 2nd one Jan. of 2020....

Trial has been cancelled (was to start 1/25/21) - per LaPlata County.... but no change in the court site as of today.

I am hoping that 'those within the system' are making Mark's life a living hell. That would seem to be all Elaine can hope for right now.

This is not specifically related to this trial but I can’t imagine how the court system is going to get caught up after all the trial delays due to COVID! It seems like it will take years. It is concerning to me.

Found Deceased - CO - Dylan Nicholas Redwine, 13, Broomfield, 19 Nov 2012 *father arrested*

11/9/20 Monday Day 7: 11/9/20 Update: Order regarding the defendant’s Motion on Mistrial (D-180). At the status conference on Nov. 9, 2020, the District Attorney made allegations concerning recent behavior of one of Mr. Redwine's attorneys & the contents of a telephone call made from the La Plata County Jail. The Court, for the reasons stated on the record & without making any findings as to the veracity of the allegations, finds that even if such allegations are true, the Court has no choice but to grant D-180 & declare a mistrial to ensure that Mr. Redwine has effective assistance of counsel. The Court sets the case for a setting conference via Webex Events on Friday, 11/13/20 at 11:00am.
11/13/20 Update: Judge set new trial date on 1/25/21. Status hearing on 1/5/21. 11/16/20: Order upon the Prosecution's Motion in Limine to prohibit the defense from presenting evidence relating to the white van (P-45).
12/22/20: By Order to protect the health & safety of the public, litigants, attorneys & the staff of the 6th Judicial District, that the Order in Administrative Order 2020-18 resuming jury trial on 1/25/21 is vacated until further order of the Chief Judge Jeffrey R. Wilson.

Yes I followed that case. Years of delays thanks to the defendant. He ended up on death row anyway.

Its delayed because of COVID. All the trials in January have been delayed in LaPlata county.
There is this document - All Jury Trials have been suspended pursuant to Administrative Order 2020-23.

As expected, trial postponed for La Plata County man suspected of killing son
Once again, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the trial for Mark Redwine has been delayed, this time until the spring, which means the Vallecito man accused of killing his son could be in jail nearly four years without a trial.

But at a brief court hearing Tuesday morning, the trial was reset to April 12.

District Judge Jeffery Wilson said summonses for the jury trial, which could go out to hundreds of La Plata County residents, should start to be mailed in early March.
