Dylan possibly taking the fishing pole makes more sense if he was leaving for two days, which I believe has been stated.

I need to go back and find that quote again but I've always felt it was misinterpreted. I read it as Dylan had plans to hang out with friends 2 days but not necessarily consecutive days or even with an overnight stay expected.

I completely agree... and the timeline/info. I have created regarding this does not indicate anywhere that dad was asked or responded to any information about the phone. I'm sure he may have addressed all this at his meeting with LE last Thursday, but it has not been made public as far as I have seen.

He never indicated he was aware of any problems with the phone.
If he was aware of any problems, why would he be texting Dylan all afternoon on Monday?

"Mark said he tried texting Dylan all afternoon in an area with spotty cellphone service. When he didn't hear anything back by late afternoon, he went to Dylan's friend's house in Vallecito. That friend hadn't seen him."

Is it possible that a neighbor/friend/coworker/somebody dad told his son was coming to visit had an agenda for Dylan, and knew where dad lived and his potential schedule?
Or someone on the plane or at the airport realized a young boy on his own and stalked him? Maybe someone Dylan even spoke with on the plane?
I don't know, I'm grasping here. I just so so so want him to be found and neither one of his parents to be involved with his missing.

I think Dylan packed his clothes in his backpack and probably not many clothes at that. Also, I'm thinking that one of the articles of clothing found at MR's was the shirt he was wearing in the WalMart/Airport pics. I could be wrong - but it makes sense to me and my experiences.

Salem

Again, last time dad saw Dylan, Dylan was sleeping. So, how would his dad know the shirt Dylan was wearing? I think there was error in description of clothing. It's a black shirt but not a Nike shirt.

If Dylan slept in his dad's house the first night there, it seems like his scent would have been on the sofa and any bedding he used, on the TV remote or button, on the cereal box and bowl, and both saliva and scent from hands on the spoon. His scent should have been in the bathroom, on the water faucets, on any towels he used, on the fridge door handle and any other door handles for rooms he went in. If he went bareboot on the floor, his scent should be on the floor too. Couldn't the dogs pick up his scent in many places in the house and followed it outside and wherever it went from there? (Unless someone carried him outside.)

How many people knew that Dylan was visiting his dad and that he was there alone while is dad was running errands. Did his dad happen to mention that to anyone (who could have been a predator), telling the person about when he was going back to get Dylan? Hearing that information, a predator could have gone to the house and told Dylan that his dad had sent him to drive him to his friend's house because his dad was delayed coming back. If Dylan got bored and went outside to wander around a bit, could he have been shot by accident by a hunter who hid the body to avoid getting in trouble? Do people have and ride horses in that area? Could someone have offered to give him a lift by horseback to a friend's home that was only a few miles away, saying he was going that way anyway? Is Dylan's dad's house close to the road? Could someone have stopped in a car or truck and offered to drive him into town where his friends live?

Was it usual for Dylan's dad to keep the house locked or leave it unlocked? Did Dylan have a key to the house? Was the house unlocked when his dad came back and found Dylan missing? Does the area have any open wells or pits that Dylan might not have seen and could have fallen into? Did Dylan have a bicycle at his dad's house that was in working order? If so, was it still there? It seems unlikely that Dylan would have taken his fishing pole and walked all the way to the lake by himself to fish, and he would need some bait too, and a bucket to put any fish in that he caught, if he doesn't let them go again. And swimming alone wouldn't be a lot of fun either. How hot was it in that area that day? Was Dylan independent and did he like to go places by himself? Or did he usually go with one or more friends or an adult? Are there poisonous snakes in the area if he decided to take a hike alone?

I think all children and teens who go on a visit away from home without an adult escort should wear a working GPS device for safety. I believe you can buy ones that look like a wrist watch. I know a woman who has quite a bit of land and she has a GPS collar on her dog that lets her know where the dog is at any time. She can check on her computer or her smart phone to get its location. Why not do the same with our kids?

Its hard to understand how kids can just disappear from home, the neighborhood, their school, etc. and many never to be seen again. It makes me want a GPS chip put in every baby at birth! I sure hope that Dylan is still alive and that he will be found and brought home real soon. This must be a horrible nightmare for his family and all those who know him and care about him. Have helicopters or small airplanes been used in the search?
BBM
I had some thoughts similar to this. Could have been a neighbor who stopped by. Maybe someone vacationing there and just arrived. Could have started asking Dylan about his dad and so Dylan assumed this was someone who knew his dad and whom he could trust. When Dylan told him his dad was due back at 11:00 to take him to his friend's house, the man could've offered to take Dylan. If Dylan was planning to stay there overnight, that would explain why Dylan took his backpack. But, why would Dylan leave the TV on? If, on the other hand, Dylan was kidnapped from the house, it's unlikely the kidnapper would allow him to take the backpack, and especially the cell phone, which could be tracked and would be a means for Dylan to contact someone. If a kidnapper allowed him to take his backpack along, wouldn't he look in the bag first and take out the phone if it was in there? If he did, or the phone wasn't in there to begin with, where is it now?

I did see pictures of a helicopter search today. It's on the FindMissingDylanRedwine FB page: https://www.facebook.com/FindMissingDylanRedwine

Ok, so how did you make that happen? Mine is a clothes horse and changes three times a day and takes as many showers...using a new fresh bath towel every stinking time!

I wanna know your secret. I thought making him do his own laundry would solve it ....but nope. Hasn't helped at all.

I have one kid in each category. My 12yo will only change clothes when told to. My 17yo never wears less than 3 outfits a day. I think their interest in clothes is proportional to their interest in girls.

Wanted to pause a minute & post some thoughts about what I think may be going on behind the scenes in the investigation. Apologize if someone else has touched on this but I have gotten so far behind with the fast moving threads.....

We know LE needs to account for why a teen who is known to text almost nonstop while awake, suddenly stopped after 8pm Sunday & never again after that.

- So surely LE is combing over Dylan's past cell phone records to see if there has EVER been a time previously when that has happened - more than 12 hrs of no texting & no response to his friends

Did Dylan ever hitchhike or attempt to walk long distances to see his friends? Was that something he did on his previous visit to his Dad in September?

- Surely LE is interviewing anyone & everyone who has spent time with Dylan while he was away from authority figures in his life and asking them the who, what, when, where of the hitchhiking issue (since his mother indicates it is something he agreed he wouldn't do)Maybe it was something he was known to do away from the supervision of his Mom

Did Dylan like to fish or was he known to fish - especially, had he EVER ventured off to fish alone in the past?

- If the answer is no, then LE will likely discard the idea that, for the first time in his life, he decided to go fishing alone when he knew Dad would be coming back in a few hours to take him to see his friends

-If the answer is yes, he has gone fishing alone before, could explain why they have focused, and refocused on the lakes

Just a few things to consider, I am quite sure this complex investigation has LE headed down lot's of paths. I feel for them. A two inch thick folder of leads to track down.

sorry... Don't know how to bold phrases on my iPad.. but...

when you mentioned about LE reviewing activity on Dylan's cell... And if there were similar "absences", etc... I had been thinking that reviewing Dylan's cell activity when he had previously visited Vallecito, specifically, would be a helpful baseline to gauge Dylan's cell activity...

and also possibly internet usage, since we learned Monday night that there is internet available.

Hey, clue :seeya:

Which makes me wonder why Dad thinks he may have left with a fishing pole. If they made a plan for the a.m. would there not be some discussion about what Dylan wanted to do with his friends? Would it not be reasonable that conversation may be a bit awkward due to little prior contact that plans wouldn't be discussed?

Very good question! :waitasec:

It does seem that is something that Dylan and Mark would discuss... The idea that Dylan and his pals would be playing baseball...

And don't forget about the stinky sock bombs laying around! O/T One day our son fell asleep on the floor watching TV so my DH decided to see how long it would take him to wake up by placing one of our son's stinky sock bombs around his head one at a time until he would notice the stench! It was funny when the smell finally woke him up and he looked all sleepy eyed and said "What stinks?"

We were laughing so hard!:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh: For some reason i feel the need to buy socks. I tuck them in with Birthday gifts and Xmas. The men in my Family :banghead: Still to this day. They have packages of new socks in their drawers yet wear the old until i throw them out due to many holes. I once witnessed my son fish a pair of runners out of the trash that were reduced to flip flops. Had 2 brand new pr. Nope cant throw away the comfy. Totally outta my realm :waitasec:

Hi Jan!

These are all excellent questions...

And I just happen to have answers to ALL of them!:floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Well... Maybe not....But I wish I did!:please:

Yes there was confusion on that. If u find clarification good stuff.

Something that just keeps getting me. Mom said from the getgo that she suspected dad. Think about this. If my child were missing, I would not want to tunnel vision people. I would want people to be trying to find my child! However, if I truly believed a particular person needed to be looked at I would scream it out!
IMO she has never tried to steer the public away from thinking about dad.
That keeps me uncomfortable about dad.
Her most important thing in her life is finding her son! And her ex husband keeps coming to her mind. Nobody else!

Dad just said Dylan was going to visit friends on Monday and Tuesday. Didn't say if it was going to be an overnight visit.

I believe dad reported that possible plans for Dylan's week-long visit included hanging with his pals for a couple of days... But it was never clear to me if Dylan was going to be spending the night during those two days... Or if they were going to be two separate trips...:waitasec:

I agree. I remember MR saying, when asked his plans with Dylan that week, Dylan planned to hang out with his friends on Monday and again on Tuesday, and then they planned to do an activity like bowling together on Wednesday, which would include Dylan's friends. It was never stated Dylan would be staying overnight with his friends. Bayfield is only a 30 min. drive. Some were wondering why MR didn't take Dylan to his friends house Sunday night and allow him to stay overnight since he (MR) had some appointments Monday a.m. I think that's where people got the idea of an overnight.

My teen son and I vacation every year in Mexico ( hubby is afraid to fly) we all have iPhones grandfathered with unlimited usage. That doesn't apply for traveling out of country. Since he was 12 I've had to purchase plans that cover texting because he was texting his girl friend and friends in the morning and every night when we would get back to our hotel. A few nights he paid, with his own money, to use the hotels computer to oovoo down in the lobby.

I simply can not imagine Dylan not contacting anyone Sunday night after he arrived or Monday. IMO it's outside the realm of possibility.

If Dylan did make it to his Dad's house and disappeared between 730 and 1130 am on Monday morning, WHY is there NOT some type of alert/warning to the general area? Dylan's disappearance has been classified as a CRIMINAL investigation, so that tells me a CRIMINAL is in the area (or was in the area).

If I lived in the area, I would really want some clarification from LE as to my children's safety - No, I would be DEMANDING!

Can anyone tell me if they find this disturbing also? :furious::furious:

YES I would find this disturbing.

What I've come to believe in this case is that most of what LE says isn't to be taken seriously or literally. Unfortunately, whether they're playing a strategic game or they're keeping everything wide open because they don't know what's going on -- I don't see much consistency between what they say and the followup or their actions. That doesn't make sense as I read it back, but the example I would use is what you pointed out.....

IF they mean what they say - this is a criminal investigation, there was a crime committed, they've stated who is NOT a suspect... so that leaves everyone else.... that would suggest there's a predator at large somewhere somehow who managed to abduct a child in a 4-hr period from a remote location, likely near his home without a trace. Otherwise they shouldn't be making comments like "this is a criminal investigation". I find much of what they DO say very odd and all of what they're not saying very puzzling. Hopefully time will tell.

Yep, disturbed.
