I'm thinking that maybe it wasn't Dylan that told the friend of the change in plans, and I doubt it was a voice call.

That makes sense because I think if there was something wrong he would have texted or called his mother. Maybe he was and that is when something happened. Just going along with this theory and throwing out possible scenarios. jmo

so we have 7.06pm text to Mom
7.30 approx walmart, lets say 10-15 minutes for shopping is that reasonable?
that takes us to about 7.40-7.50pm
load groceries and drive to McDs about 10 minutes away which would put them there at roughly 8pm

I don't think Dad necessarily took Dylans phone off him, its not like Dylan was madly texting and calling people.

Do we know whT time he texted his friends?

Well, I've always had 2 theories of what I think happened and him being hit by a car is one of them. I'm glad they are searching that area this weekend. I hope it turns up something. Any word/reaction from the parents lately? Since the NG episode? Wonder what MR does all day now. Did ER return to her home, I guess? It must be so frustrating.

If someone starts painting their walls I'm giving up!!

Based on info in the Find Missing Dylan Redwine Facebook page, Elaine, Cory and Elaine's sister are still in the Bayfield/Durango area searching for Dylan.

Does anyone really keep a McDonalds/fast food receipt? Mine is always thrown out with the bag.

If I could get in and out of Walmart in 10-15 minutes that would be a miracle! More like 10-15 minutes just in the check out line. Do we know how many phone calls and texts Dylan sent between 7:06pm and 8:00pm?

having never been in a walmart store I'm only guessing, plus the fact that most males tend to be quick shoppers.

so if it takes more than 10-15 minutes then we have a good chance that something occured during or just after the walmart stop, I'll say it again I'm not so sure about that McD's stop.

the biggest problem is if something occured around 8pm theres around 12 hours that mean evidence could be taken quite far away.

It is my understanding that he texted his Mom first at 7:06. It was his Dad who said he was texting back and forth with his friends trying to make arrangements. I don't know if this was confirmed by the friends?

I thought this too and ran it past my DD15. She said it wouldn't fly. Texting can be a recognizable as voice. She said she can tell if one of her girlfriends hands her phone to another friend when they are texting. Sometimes she can even tell WHO she handed it to based on the style of texting ...

Who knew??

Not much of a stretch to imagine Dylan sitting in McDonalds texting with his friends and then asking his Dad if he can spend the night in Bayfield. Reply: No, now shut that **** phone off and eat your dinner.

except IIRC the text to his mother was the last activity before his phone stopped pinging at about 8pm

Didn't the friends say they were expecting him Monday morn but he never showed?

I seem to remember that his friends said they did hear from him by text. No link handy. Sorry.

Even in a little quiet place like that ? I live in a small town
and there is very little camera monitoring action,,some but
not nearly as much as in bigger cities with higher populations,
thus higher crime rates.
Tell your oldest thanks !

She says she doesn't know if it has anything to do with security. Maybe-but she's not sure. She says they would monitor the drive thru so that if they got backed-up, they could get a description of the vehicle to jot down on the receipt in case they had to carry orders out to someone's car. She doesn't know if that's company-wide, but it's what they did in all the ones she's ever worked in. And she says "you're welcome." :)

do we know if it was a message to the friend or was it to the parents of the friend where he was going to stay?

Good point and yes! So either via text or phone call he was in contact with at least one friend (or his phone was).

I believe the 7:06pm text to Mom was in reply to a text that she sent him wondering if he had arrived safely and his Dad had picked him up.

I don't think this is neccesarily the time that they were at or leaving the airport. Dylan did not have any luggage to claim and I don't suppose there is any customs procedures to go through for flights that are within the state so if the plane arrived around 6pm then I'd think they were out of there by 6:30pm and probably already in Durango by 7:06pm? I'm sure LE know where the phone was when he answered that text to his mother so I'm sure they know approximately where he was at the time.

And I'm sure they also know approximately where the phone was when it last pinged. Which is likely somewhere along route 240/Florida Rd. Which is why they are searching that area tomorrow. I really wish they had done this two weeks ago. What will MR say if the phone is found along the roadway?

In Autumn's case there were lots of teen volunteers.

I imagine that kids that go to school with the missing person would very much want to participate.

Unless they ate inside they may even have McDonald 'garbage' still in the car or at home? :waitasec:

I believe so, too, based on what she said on NG.

REDWINE: He texted me at about 7:06 on Sunday night and told me that he had landed and his dad had picked him up. He basically said -- I said, Did your dad get you, son? And he said, yes.

I totally agree but would parents allow them? I don't think I would. JMO

Very good post! We're sure Dylan had no checked baggage? And yes I'm sure LE has pinged his phone until it died.
