I wondered if Mom talked to Dylan about it just because she knew other kids do it. Maybe CR even did it. But not necessarily because Dylan had done it.

As for the friends, well I'm sure they've all heard the horror stories, and I wonder who mentioned hitchhiking first. Did MR say something to them about he thought Dylan had hitched a ride to Bayfield? Or did the friends themselves initiate the idea? I'd love to ask them that.

It sounds like the friends were the ones to give the idea to MR:

Mark said he learned from some of Dylan's friends in the wake of the disappearance that his son had been known to hitchhike.

So he ponders the what-ifs and details that might have led to Dylan's hitchhiking.

Did ER tell MR that their son may have hitchhiked to Bayfield instead of waiting for a ride? If not, why not?

You're a braver woman than me! I was afraid to say it. I'm not convinced he planned it, but I sure think it's a possibility.

ETA: I'm not 100% convinced he did anything at all, actually, but if he did...well it may well have been planned, imo. Still hoping that Dylan will magically reappear.

Does it seem odd to anyone else that with all the opportunities dad has had, he has never once pleaded for his child's safe return?

In fairness, neither has mom...but we know what her gut is telling her and by now she's hanging on by her fingernails, that its not true. Imo

Lieutenant Ed Phippen of the La Plata County Sheriff's Office said it is now a criminal investigation with the belief that whatever happened was out of Dylan's control or ability to get out.

Dylan's parents also participated in Saturday's search. Mark Redwine, Dylan's father, was the last one to see his son. Redwine took a lie detector test and it was found inconclusive, which could mean a number of things.

Lt. Phippen said that they have not ruled anyone out as a suspect.

This is one statement that has bothered me. Has anyone confirmed this, or are we just taking ER's word for it. She originally said "You know, I`m not sure. I know he`s been asked to" She then said when asked if she knew if he had taken one, " I do not at this time, no." She also said that "No, I don`t think he failed a polygraph. You know, I don`t know the specifics behind that. I don`t think he necessarily failed. But you know, I don`t have any information on that. So it`s real -- it`s real tough for me to answer that question."

When Nancy G asked her if she hadn't told the producers that he had failed a LDT, she said that she'd never said that, and then decided that she knew he had taken one. When pushed, she said she believed was inconclusive.

That's been the basis for all of the "knowledge" about him failing a LDT or his results being inconclusive.

If you guys have any questions for Marc and you're not comfortable calling in or are not registeded on blogtalkradio where you can post in the chat, you can post them here and I will text them to Tricia.

I don't mean to harp on it, but this does not contain a quote from LE about abduction or indicate when they may have said something like that. I am in ABQ, where KOAT is, and they have not been covering this daily, so it is just a recap-type thing, IMO, without proper sources.

Their reporter was there yesterday interviewing folks along with their helicopter.

We don't know that the reporter was basing that statement on the NG interview, do we? They did have a reporter at the search who was talking to folks. She may have gotten that information elsewhere for all I know.

I don't understand. Why would ER tell MR that their son may have hitchhiked to Bayfield?

Moreover, how could she? I thought MR wasn't taking her calls or responding to her texts. MOO

Because I'm a complete goof, I'm JustRhon in chat.

Is there a way to do that in taptalk?

The main reason I think he could have hitchhiked is that it was mentioned a few times by friends and family. Dylan's friends in Bayfield said that he might have hitchhiked down there, MR seemed to think that he could have done it, and ER specifically said that she talked to Dylan about not hitchhiking, which makes me think that he's either done it in the past or talked about it.

I would like to know if he has hitchhiked before. That's one question I would like the parents to answer. I have a feeling that they may not want to answer it.

I would like to know if he has before too. But if he did set off to hitchhike I just don't understand why he would do it without first making sure his friends were home since he wasn't there at 6:30am as planned (and that is awfully early IMO for 13 year old boys to make plans), or leaving a note to let dad know where he went?

Well whoever wrote the article doesn't attribute this information to any source. So I guess we will never know.

Early in this case Dylan's friends mentioned that Dylan would often hitch hike. I'm not going to try to look up this reference, but it was in the article where LE emphasized they had talked to his friends "multiple" times.

This is only my opinion but I feel that Dylan thought of Bayfield as his hometown.

Theoretically only LE and MR would have that data, and as far as I know they have not said.

And nowhere in that video is there any law enforcement official telling them that abduction is exactly what they believed had happened.

Neither are the other interviews she did.
