One of my fears is that if Dad is NOT guilty of anything, then the actual perp may never be identified.

Okay. It's late and I don't feel like going to look for the video of his mother's comments. But if it was a flip phone we know it was old. It would not have to be old for the battery to die anyway. Faulty battery, lots of use, there are a number of reasons it would go dead. And it is something I would rather believe than that his father ripped it out of his hands and destroyed it or something even more sinister. jmo

Why would it have to be old if it was a flip phone? My 12yo has a Samsung Convoy which is a flip phone and it is less than a year old. Unlike my teen, B just isn't that into his phone and throws it around wherever when he is home. The Convoy is small, has an excellent battery life and is freaking indestructible so it is perfect for a young boy that needs a phone but doesn't care much about actually taking care of it.

oh my you guys..the phone was in flames...the phone was actually, LITERALLY smoking??...really??.. I would really like to know who has really seen a cell phone while in use go up in flames..yet was still functioning and fully usable after the phone had flames coming from it??...really?

who has seen a cell phone go up in flames while in use or immediately after its used, period?..the same goes for a cell phone with smoke billowing from it?

IMO without a shadow of a doubt mom in talking about what an avid and heavy texter that Dylan was used the phrase the "phone would be left smoking" due to Dylan's having been burning it up with the amount texting he was doing..

Seriously a cell phone that has had flames emitting from it..smoke literally exuding from the actual cell phone yet the phone was still fully functioning??..not to mention functionimg to the extent that mom who is in continued contact with her youngest son sends him on the first court ordered visitation with an ex spouse who per her documented court docs has been violent and volatile in the childrens presence prior..she sends him with her only form or way of contact is that cell phone that has been in flames with smoke literally billowing from the actual device??

IMO there is just no way in this world that is true..IMO it obviously was a figure of speech used to describe her sons extreme use of texting on his cell phone..jmo

I think you may be right because surely she would not let her son use a phone that was burning up in his hands. But that is what she said and that is what I was commenting on. It is a figure of speech, kind of like raining cats and dogs, but I think she was also using it in the context of saying it was an old phone and just about worn out. DR needed a new phone and that is what I think she was saying. And that is a definite possibility as to why the phone went dead. And I believe the most probable one. jmo

I still want to know if the tracking dogs picked up Dylan's scent in and around dad's house?

I want to know that he made it to the house Sunday night.

Smoking doesn't have to mean it burst into flames. I know that the cell phone I had would get extremely hot after just a few minutes of use. I didn't use it much, but my son had used it for a couple years before he got a different phone and carrier.

Some interesting facts about the Redwine family. Elaine Redwine inherited their home near the Vallecito Reseivour.
During the time frame of the divorce of Elaine and Markn she sold said home to Mark for a very nominal amount, less than 20 dollars. He became the sole owner. She completed this action with a "quit claim" deed. Mark hired a restoration company for the home, at a later point in time the restoration company put a lien on the home for work that he did not pay for.
So where and how did I find this, easy, La Plata County records. Many legal transactions are a matter of public record.
So how would these facts figure into the current case, well not too much. But anyone quit claiming a deed to a home is could be very kind or desperate to sever all contact with the other party. Or there are many other possible reasons. It is a reflection of the relationship that Mark and Elaine had and could have some bearing on their missing child.

Great first post and :welcome: to WS. :fireworks:

I knew about the lien, but I didnt know about the quit claim deed. Very interesting. I think she was in a hurry as well.

Since she was planning to give him a new phone for Christmas, I also took that to mean that his current phone was an older one.

If a reputable author (books, not just blogs) had something published in an online magazine, would that be a credible source? TIA

Is it something about this case in particular?

I can't imagine any parent being cool with their child using a phone that would get "extremely hot after just a few minutes of use". Especially a mother that was putting her child on a plane, sending him hours away for a week and likely counting on that phone to be her main mode of communication.

It depends. If you want to send me the link, I'll take a look and see if it is something that would pass.

I was sent a link to an article he wrote about recognizing fraudulent statements. He has a PhD and is a Certified Fraud Examiner.

That is one of my biggest fears and probably the reason I am not more attacking of MR right now. I don't like when cases get tunnel vision too fast because I feel like it tints the entire case when that happens.

I had to eat crow twice-first with Gail Palmgren and her husband and second with Sierra Lamar's mother's boyfriend especially when her mother started contradicting herself during interviews about the boyfriend and timing. I think that is a great example of stress and not being trained to speak to the public affecting speech and sometimes leading to contradictions that are just mistakes and not incriminating evidence.

Shouldn't have said 'old'. Meant not a new hip phone. But, I do admire you for not going out and spending a fortune on a phone for your children just because it is cool. Really upsets me to see a 12 year old with an expensive phone and all he does is listen to music or play games. My phone is expensive, but it also has word and xl on it which I use to store files, etc. They can be a good tool in the right hands. lol

I thought something was said about this, somewhere, but I think it turned out to be unconfirmed speculation. I looked through the awesome timeline that has been done and I didn't see it mentioned there.

Yes.... this would be very good information to have. I would also like to know about the landline at MR's house and what articles of clothing were there.

Mr. Seaj has a flip phone. He has to charge it every day when it's on all day, even if he makes no calls on it. The battery life sucks on it. If he uses it, the battery dies faster.

As far as Dylan's flip phone being old, ER pretty much intimated that when she said she was going to get him a smartphone for Christmas.

Generally we don't do statement analysis. Who is the person?

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things about this case that are hard to imagine. :notgood:

I mentioned Sierra Lamar's mother and bf, also. She did contradict herself, and once she even cut NG off by saying she had to go, and ended the interview. That seemed so suspicious at the time.
