quibbling about the meaning of 'tech savvy' doesn't help us find Dylan, the definition of it can be different to each of us.

IMO we need to think age appropriate he knew how to send texts, use the computer and probably a variety of games, thats very tech savvy compared to someone who doesn't understand how to use a computer or who doesn't use a cell phone

The fact that she works at a college, and with college-aged kids, probably makes her more tech-savvy, or aware of what kids are doing, than many people. I was amazed (and dismayed) when my first son went to college (he's a senior now) at the prevalence of texting.

IMO

I don't think we know if the i-pod left behind was the same one he brought with him on the trip. I know what you mean about the i-pod touch. When my DD was
younger, I used to take her cell away when she went to bed, because she was staying up late texting. Months later I found out she was just texting with her i-pod touch instead.

But that i-pod they took could have been dad's, or an old one from a previous visit. We always had an old broken one laying round the house it seems. And MR has older sons, so it might have been from another son's visit. [ although he was mostly estranged, it seems.]

Right-we don't which iPod they took, but we do know that Dylan had one with him according to ER. She indicates that it was missing, too.
GRACE: OK, so that`s normal. What about the cell phone and the backpack and other belongings?

REDWINE: It was my understanding from his dad that everything Dylan had was in his backpack including his cell phone, his iPod, his iPod charger, his cell phone charger, all of his clothes. So we had to actually make a trip to get some of Dylan`s clothes from where we live in Colorado Springs because it was my understanding there were no clothes at his dad`s house.

So my thought is this-we've been focusing on the cell and assuming that any contact Dylan would've made to anyone the following morning would've been via computer or landline. What if he used his iPod? And even better, what if he has the find my iPhone feature on it?:twocents:

Just a question....

Could the iPod that was taken by LE and the fishing pole reported missing by MR be red herrings?

I'm 8 pages behind but TxJan has updated the greatest timeline ever and it is now uploaded.

VASportsmom, thanks for reposting the latest version. Since then, I have updated AGAIN (LOL) about the ipod information which will be included in the next posting. I will re-send a little later. Folks can just keep checking for the latest version as I add updates from Media or even here in the discussions. The updated version date and time of update is on the document at the top. TIA

If there is anything that I missed or should be added, just message me. Tx

But LE spoke with his friends and family, and none of them heard from him on Monday morning. Even by i-pod, apparently.

And even if you use your i-pod to text, I think it still shows up on your cell phone account. If you don't have a phone number and working account, you cannot text from the i-phone, AFAIK. So any texts he sent from there would still show up as activity on his account, I believe.

Ok, just send it to me when you are ready. I'm gonna get this copied over to a website today too. I had hoped to do it yesterday but my little one was a wreck after losing our hamster and I spent the day with him.

When my son went abroad, he was able to text me through his email account on his Ipod Touch. Not sure how he did it, but that's another way it can be done.

Well, actually, it does look like it was only dad saying it. But the reporter reporting that dad said it. (does that make sense?)

It's been mentioned before, but any articles of clothing could have been left from a previous visit, not the one which we are discussing. IMO

I just referred to the timeline this morning when trying to wade through the scent dog business and find the junction of 500 and 501. 500 is the road that leads to MR's house and 501 is the road around the lake. MR has to pass the lake to get anywhere. Looking at the map again I would find it extraordinary if scent dogs traced anything from house to lake- it's a long haul.

No matter how many times I circle around the information (scant as it is), I come back to MR and Sunday night. Got the who, got the when, can't find the why, can't figure the how and am wholly consumed looking for the WHERE. Hence my mapping this morning. Currently searching for records of construction, current contracted projects for United Pipeline or ??? :waitasec:

Google Voice account is one option but it requires wifi.

Right, but even then, it would show up on his computer. I Don't think there is anything hidden on that i-pod. jmo

Yes. I should have mentioned that. He could only do it when around wifi hot spots.

bolded, snipped by me:

http://www.kktv.com/news/headlines/Search-Continues-For-Missing-Boy-180366681.html

"Authorities say nothing helpful to the investigation was found inside his home."

so as not to paraphrase nor analyze, IMO one can safely surmise that 'nothing' means 'nothing'. zilch. zippo. nada.

Da*n. I was hoping they would find something that would confirm that Dylan had actually spent the night there, allowing them to move from "he made it to La Plata county" to "he made it to his dad's house." Nothing at all? Da*n again.

Poor Dylan.

Some interesting facts about the Redwine family. Elaine Redwine inherited their home near the Vallecito Reseivour.
During the time frame of the divorce of Elaine and Markn she sold said home to Mark for a very nominal amount, less than 20 dollars. He became the sole owner. She completed this action with a "quit claim" deed. Mark hired a restoration company for the home, at a later point in time the restoration company put a lien on the home for work that he did not pay for.
So where and how did I find this, easy, La Plata County records. Many legal transactions are a matter of public record.
So how would these facts figure into the current case, well not too much. But anyone quit claiming a deed to a home is could be very kind or desperate to sever all contact with the other party. Or there are many other possible reasons. It is a reflection of the relationship that Mark and Elaine had and could have some bearing on their missing child.

You posted something earlier that's no longer on the thread. I don't recall the specifics and if it was taken down please skip on over this. Are you able to address those issues? TIA

You and Schmae are so good at comedy! Actually, lots of us here can get pretty funny when there is nothing new to discuss...we should promote a marathon comedy show and charge non-members $1 hour to watch...all proceeds donated to Dylan's Search (or reward) fund!! :great:

Count me in! I can sing pretty funny too!!!

For an Ipod touch Dylan would need access to a wifi. Do we know what type of internet hook up MR has? Alot of the more rural locations are ten years behind and have no wireless access in their homes. It's just not available to them. Mine only became available two years ago.

If he had this access, wouldn't he contact his friends that were waiting for him? They say they never heard from him. And LE states one of the reasons to eleminate the possibility of him being a runaway is his complete lack of communication after 8pm on Sunday. That's not verbatim. IMO, there is no commnication trail for this child at all. No cell, no computer, no Iphone touch, no landline, etc.

Seems to me Dylan may have alot of ways to communicate with someone...anyone. And no one hears from him again, presumably, after his last text to his mother.
