O/T - apologies

Whenever someone gets a chance, no hurry:

1) Can anyone tell me how to search threads here for specific key words? It seems like other people can do it, but I can't. Do you have to have a certain number of posts before you can do it?

2) On PMs, if you send a message, is there an "outbox," or some other way to see what was sent?

Thank you.

Are you looking to search within one specific thread or several?

I think with PM's you have to set the settings to save your sent messages. Otherwise I believe they're lost, unless the person who replies to you keeps your original message in their response.

I want to go to Durango for a nice long walk around McDonalds and anywhere I think might be worth walking around now....If the weather holds up, I just might.

I will join you!

Yes, you did. Some of us were sleuthing MR's family court records last night. It ended up in one of those "things" :blushing: that caused the thread to get shut down for about an hour.
We have been advised to cool it....but MR isn't going to be up for father of the year but he might get a prize for being one of "those guys" who appears to enjoy filing court motions to aggravate a couple of ex-wives.

I've been curious for awhile now since you have brought up the subject several times of wondering if he bought a fishing pole at Walmart. Do you think MR did not own a fishing pole at all? And had to buy one so that he could use that to throw LE off?
I just don't get where the fishing pole is a red herring. Even IF he did buy one that night, what does that prove? And wouldn't he have said, the fishing pole he just bought was missing, rather than A fishing pole was missing?
I guess I'm just not getting the significance. Let's just say he did buy one. Then he tells them Dylan is missing, and oh yeah... his pole is missing, too. He would be kind of stupid to have bought one that night knowing he was going to use it to throw LE off somehow, wouldn't he? I guess if he's smart enough to come up with a ruse like that, he would be smart enough to know LE is going to check his receipts to see what he bought and that Walmart has security cameras at the door. Maybe not, but if he's that smart, then why do something so stupid?
We are going around in circles and the wheel just won't stop turning.

I understand what you are saying.

I've always said however, that we often hear obviously guilty people (not MR in this case) say something along the lines of "If I did so and so, do you really think I would be stupid enough to *insert stupid action here*?" And my answer is almost always, "Why yes, yes, I think you might be."

I'm not sure WHAT to think of the fishing pole. It could be a red herring. It could seriously be missing, and MR believes Dylan took it when he left. It could be something they argued over the night before, hence it looms large in MR's tale. (whether true or not)

I tend to think there is a reason for it. If he did do something to disappear Dylan, than it's either to get him found quickly (which did not happen) or to lead the investigation in another direction. It could also be that he is an innocent man with a missing son and a missing fishing pole.

Go to User CP (top) ---> Edit Options (halfway down on Menu on Left) ----> Under "Messaging and Notification", check "Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default"

I hope this helps.

I think the tidbits that are released are done strategically with the approval of LE. This time the tidbit are the text messages between Dylan and Ryan. We don't really know if this is the entirety of Dylan's texts. Did he text anyone else on Sunday afternoon or evening, etc.? We didn't see the texts between Dylan and Elaine. We didn't see any texts between Mark and Dylan, or Elaine, or Cory, or Dylan's friends.

So why this particular text message? I would think if LE had said no to the text message being released, we wouldn't be seeing it.

Things that make me say hmmmmm

There was more exchange with Ryan that started in the early afternoon before Dylan ever got on the plane...

The following is a text exchange between RN and Dylan Redwine that starts early afternoon Nov. 18 with the two swapping banter about their prowess with females.

At 5:40 p.m., Dylan tells his friend that his plane has landed, and Ryan asks him how the flight went.

“Weired my head went numb from all the vibrations,” Dylan replies.

Soon after, they begin making arrangements to see each other. The texts, provided by Ryan, are unedited.

http://www.durangoherald.com/article/20121215/NEWS01/121219687/-1/news01&source=RSS

They've obviously left conversations that would probably be kind of embarrassing to young boys out of the exchange they printed. What stands out to me is that the plane landed at 5:40pm. For one hour Dylan did not text his friend. It appears that his friend texted him an hour after the plane landed to tell him he was on his way to where they were to meet and Dylan already knew that he would not be able to come. So within one hour of landing Dylan had already being told no to the plan with his friend. The plan that I'm sure they had been talking excitedly about earlier in the day during their text exchanges prior to the plane leaving. It appears that his friend's family had made arrangements to make sure he could be there for them to meet up. I can't imagine Dylan accepting his father's explanation of it's too late sometime between 5:40 and 6:40 considering that the other boy was not even at the planned meeting spot yet.

So for the hour after he met up with his Dad, Dylan was silent on the phone as far as his friend is concerned. His friend inititiated conversation again and Dylan's answers about why he can't come are short and curse. You can tell he was probably upset and angry but didn't want to elaborate on the phone. And he was probably discussing it with MR at the time, and not in a good way. Somehow they came up with the 6:30am plan, probably MR throwing out something like "if it's so d**m important to you then you can get up at 6:30am...not really thinking Dylan would go for it but he did and started to make that arrangement with his friend. Then the phone went dead...

Doesn't seem like a good sign to me.

Thank you, I am trying in my own feeble way to help folks understand a little about investigations in general. I personally don't think this case will be close to being solved unless Dylan is found. There is no smoking gun, apparently, but they still could know way more than we do, just waiting on more proof.

I hope I don't come across as condescending or rude, I certainly don't intend to. Sometimes I do tend to type too fast and forget my manners. I think we're all getting desperate.

ITA and no doubt LE knows more. I think this text release definitely come from LE. I believe we will now see more things being leaked to the press to put pressure on MR. They no doubt will try and smoke him out or backed into a corner slowly though as they don't want a defense attorney to shut down his cooperation. It seems to me, they are building a case. JMO

Are you considering that he might of just gotten into the lake on his own? Dont forget the water is not just cold but freezing. I gave this thought early on.

Do I THINK he may have actually gone to the lake? Possibly.
Do I THINK he might have gotten into the lake on his own? Possibly.
Do I THINK he might have had an accident on his own at the lake? Possibly.
Do I THINK he might have gotten into the lake with some help? Possibly.

However, based on the latest article about his EARLY MORNING plans with his friends and his mom's statement that he wasn't all that into fishing, I'm sticking with
a) he never made it to dad's,
b) he started out walking/hitching to his friend's and something happened, and even
c) HE RAN AWAY

Just because someone else (i.e. LE) rules out that he did not run away doesn't mean that I can't still consider it as one of MY possibilities - until I have some kind of confirmation from the higher powers that be that there is evidence to rule otherwise....

With this question and statement, I'm out of here.

I have one of those glorious flip phones that I love. Last year, I was asking my wonderful agent where I get my cell phone and online modem a question about if my car ran off a road and I was unconscious could I be located with my cell pings. This is the answer I got ...

No because my old flip phone is the kind that once the battery dies it does not ping. My flip phone came into my posession in 2009 as a new phone. That is all I know because that is what I was told by the manager of the store.

If there is poor reception and spotty at times can cell phones still ping?
The phone will still ping in spotty reception but not in an area of no reception. So if after 8 pm Sun the phone was never in an area with any reception whatsoever then it would never ping. Phones as early as 1996 had pinging technology. I think maybe the manager meant GPS could not be used to find your exact location. But they could find your general location via triangulation of pings. Does that make sense?

How would releasing the 911 calls in Holly's case help solve it? They know what the calls consisted of, we don't need to know. What would we do with those calls even if we heard them? Nothing except talk about them till the cows come home which wouldn't solve anything.

They always hold back some information, for good reason. It helps weed out the nutcases who like to confess to crimes just for attention. Or if they're questioning someone who mentions a tiny detail that LE has not released to the media, there's a good chance that person either committed the crime or was there when it happened.

We as the public do not have the right to know anything unless it can assist LE in solving the case. No matter how much we crave information on any of these cases, they do not have to give it to us. But when they do release something, it is with the purpose of helping them.

Until recently, 911 calls in Tennessee were public property and were automatically released to the public. We know that there were several 911 calls the morning of Holly's disappearance. We aren't even positive about who made the calls, the times of the calls, and the information contained within them. That is important stuff. It would help us, the concerned public, to build a better timeline about the morning Holly was taken.

I am aware that LE keeps certain information from the public. I understand that its wise to do so. But times are achangin' and we have seen several cases lately that have been solved with important help from the public. Without information, cases die. That's just a fact we can't avoid.

Seriously? A child needs more than spending money. They need a roof over their head, electricity and heat and food and medical care and school supplies and and and....the list goes on and on. Never have I seen one parent pay enough child support to cover all these expenses. I get irritated when people say the parent isn't spending the money on the child. Well if the child eats, has a bed and a roof over their head and clothes on I guarantee you the money is going toward the child.

Based on my considerable experience, I can state child support in Colorado is very very low, especially if the NCP has more than 92 overnights and assumes more than half of the travel. Very low. Generally just enough for 1/2 the food bill, a bit toward sports/music and 1/2 health insurance.

One of my thoughts has been , maybe MR refused to give Dylan a lift in the morning and so Dylan hitch hiked. And then something happened.

But 2 problems with this is

1) Lack of the use of the mobile
2) MR would surely come clean as lying could put Dylan in even greater danger .

Oh yes Thank you so very much Angelonline. That does make sense. I'd like to think my children could have some hope.

Thanks so very much for your kind answer. Now I'm just going to have to buy a better battery...

Your very welcome. Forgot to add, my daughter said that most likely the manager just wanted you to buy a new phone. Lol

There must be teams of people who can search during winter weather; people go missing on snowy mountains all the time and we hear of search and rescue efforts. I hate to think that that ground and/or water searches might be halted until spring. I hope that this isn't the case (and have not seen it written as such) but so often, we hear that searching will resume after snow melts, etc.

When requested, search teams come from all over the world to help in some cases. I wish they would reach out and get some areas cleared. We've seen that waiting around for a confession or a lucky "find" can be fruitless.

IMO something happened to Dylan between 8:01pm and 9:26pm Sunday night. I sure would like to know what time they were at Walmart. Was the photo of Dylan arriving or leaving? If they did indeed go to eat first then to Walmart and then headed home the time they left Walmart is very important.

I think when they call off a search until spring it is way high up in the mountains, higher up than towns and roads are. I think it's more hikers and things. If there are towns, roads and civilization in vallecito area, there would be no reason to call off searches until spring. At least I hope that is the case :(
I'm just feeling dark and gloomy sunday ish about this now .

With Xmas around the corner i guess things will also slow down now with LE as most would be off for the holidays ( I assume).

  • #479
And lets not forget that Mom stated that she had always been able to send and receive texts to/from Dylan at Dads prior to this. Dylan's friends would also know whether or not Dylan could send and receive texts from Dads.

That's funny your daughter said that because I had just tried one of those new phones and took it back two days later out of sheer frustration. I couldn't get my old flip phone turned back on fast enough. :floorlaugh:
