....Meanwhile back in AZ, the Celis family is getting raked over the coals for not speaking with the media enough...

I know several people with that H surname. That name is common probably just about everywhere in the US. Redwine on the other hand, not so much.

Of course.

I'm not sure why the newspaper even published that letter. It was hard to understand, and it sounded like a one-sided casual conversation between the editor and some local at a bar.

Oh come on! If I were the editor, I'd TOTALLY publish it. It should bring people out of the woodwork arguing with him. It's controversial, it's one sided, it's hard core...it may not be worded well, but the type to write that kind of letter generally isn't into grammar, and spelling and such.

Yep, I'd publish it.

If my child were missing, no one could shut me up. No one.

I'd have afternoon teas, and evening cocktail hours if it meant someone else would let me talk and get my kid's face out in the media. I understand that after a while, things go back to "normal" (ish) but, at least do something every 4 months or so.

I would too. I'd want everyone out there to know what my kid looks like so if they see him/her, they'd realize they need help and go to their aid, and help to get them back home. I wouldn't expect their abductor to return them. I never understood that plea, when a child is kidnapped, to ask the perp for their return, cuz chances are, they aren't listening to TV on the station you are on at the time or later when it airs. And if they were heartless enough to kidnap a child, they wouldn't find a heart to bring them back. And if they are dead, they certainly wouldn't have them to bring back. JMO

Word to the wise:

Temper your hope with reality and statistics. It will help you continue breathing when sad news appears. To fail to face what could occur, what will most likely occur, is to set yourself up for a breakdown.

Hope to me is simple....my hope here is that Dylan can be found. I am praying he is alive. But my head knowledge helps me accept that he probably is not. I just pray, either way, that he is found.
I pray that we can find out what happened to him...and why. Who is responsible for his disappearance? I hope we can find that out too. And I hope that person will pay the price for what they have done.
These are my hopes.

And another thought: Anyone who refuses to keep their eyes open for a child because they think that missing child might be dead is one heartless person. That person wouldn't help you anyway. Shrew em....

I'm not so sure the media is all that interested in hearing from parents if they have nothing new to say. They are about news, after all. Families might be better off running a paid ad every week or two in the local newspapers, if they can afford it. TV stations are not likely just to put you on the news if you have nothing new to say, as far as I know. You might be able to generate a "human interest" story once in a while, if the news is slow.

I think Dylan's family could benefit by contacting some of the missing child organizations, such as Klaas Kids, who may be able to help them interest the media. Having a missing child is not something very many people are familiar with, as a rule, and a spokesperson or even a private attorney is unlikely to have experience in such matters.

The fact that someone wrote that letter, thought to themselves "oh yes, this sounds good, and people (many people) should read this... yes, I'm going to submit this as an open letter to the newspaper" -- and then actually submitted it is either very fascinating or disturbing. :what:

Amen!

Thank you for saying all of that, simply and honestly.

I hope that for all of the children that are somewhere in this forum and no longer in the news. It boggles my mind that nothing can be done to move any of the cases forward. Dylan's case is into the 2nd month now and it will not be long before it joins the list of those cases in limbo seemingly forever. I hope LE knows what they are doing.

Right ? WTH?
Someone earlier posted about it and I wonder if they were suggesting that it's possible that someone in town would prefer Dylan NOT be in the news any more ........ as in , it might benefit someone if the noise about Dylan quieted down and why might that be? Fascinating stuff.

I don't see why not. He's been accused of everything from being an alcoholic, murderer, dv, drugs....

  • #95
The discussion rules have been relaxed but that does not mean you can outright accuse him.

All opinions are welcome, please don't talk about being on one team or another. We all want the same thing... Dylan to be found safe and brought home!!!

I don't see why not. He's been accused of everything from being an alcoholic, murderer, dv, drugs....

I think if you see outright accusals that violate the rules you should alert the mods to the post.

Absolutely right. I save my hope beyond hope for the FMDR FB page and air out the reality here. As a mother, while "no news isn't bad news" might be appealing, knowing what the heck happened to my child and bringing them home, one way or another, seems a whole lot better. I think moms know, it's just a matter of finding proof.

I am keeping hope that Dylan is okay, wherever he may be. I am wishing for a Christmas miracle and that he will be found, safely. Oh Dylan, where are you sweetheart??? Keeping the prayers going....I added him to my prayer chain at church :please:
