Unrelated case I know but one I got caught up in recently, moreso than many other cases because she's literally right up the street from me, I thought some of us might like to read a happy ending: Found Safe CA- Analyce Dominguez, 15, missing on her way to school 14 Dec 2012 - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community.

I keep on hoping for a happy ending for Dylan.

Well, I am glad she is safe but it appears she ditched school and took off for the weekend, as far as I can gather.

I definitely agree. But what I was trying to say was that although those cases I mentioned aren't household names or even close to it, they aren't completely obscure. For example, Jacob's case has received some national coverage in the past two years if you do a search on the websites for ABC, CNN, CBS, FOX, and MSNBC. I have seen his 20/20 on WE episode rerun frequently. And someone mentioned that MSNBC was showing a TV special about Johnny Gosch today. If the parents of these children weren't still active to this day, I doubt you would see anything about these cases in the 2000s-2010s

Oh, for sure the parents in those cases have made them continue to be relevant, although I think Johnny's mother's claims add media interest, in his case.

I know... I hope it didn't seem like I was minimizing Dylan's case. Not my intent at all. It's just one of the few cases I've seen that had a happy ending so I wanted to share it.

It's unfortunate that there are so few cases where a child is found alive after being abducted by a predator. I am glad when any missing person is found alive, but most happy endings on WS seem to be children who were lost, part of custody battles, runaways, etc.

I know, really sad. When Dylan first went missing I kept thinking all of the above possibilities but when LE practically ruled everything out {seemed like it anyway) it really upset me. I just want him alive and home. I know people have talked about a "fate worse than death" and I even agree there, but either way I just want him found, for his sake and his family's.

It's pretty upsetting how few happy endings there are after a week or two but I sure hope Dylan will "buck the trend" so to speak.

I'm just going to continue living in my own little world, believing that Dylan is alive, is warm, is fed, and is being taken care of. It's ok if no one else wants to believe it. I'll believe for all of us. I want to keep hope alive that Dylan is fine and he'll be home soon. For me the cup is half full. I want to think that he's someplace safe. Like I said, the alternative isn't an option for me. FWIW.

I'm so with you. I hope so too. I desperately want to think what you're thinking here. Thanks for believing even when some of us have lost hope.

ETA: I think we sometimes need to carry each other through the worst of it.

I have a question for azgrandma when she comes back online,

Was MR involved in the community activities, did he have close friends he hung out with, did he have friends he would stop after work with for a drink or two, what did he do for fun, hobbies?; I guess what I want to know, was he a loner or not?

Thank you in advance.

It has just hit midnight here in Australia on the 25th of December and I just want to say, Dylan: wherever you are, Merry Christmas. It is heartbreaking that you are not with your family for this big occasion but we won't ever give up on you... Always thinking of you and praying that you will be bought home.

I am also thinking of the many other missing kids and adults who are not with their families today where they belong.

Merry Christmas to everyone here on WS. May you all get spoilt and eat way too much yummy food.

"So he didn`t spend a lot of time with Dylan in the three years prior to Dylan moving"

Jumping off your post … I wonder about MR's relationship with Dylan prior to "the three years prior to Dylan moving" ? three years prior MR had work obligations but what about the years before the three years, if that makes any sense.

What work obligations did this man have?
Er dosent even know what he does for a living!

Work is no excuse if ya ask me unless hes in the military!
They say he went out of the area for work returning every few weeks well Hello
as i see it hes had opportunity!

Like I keep saying over and over If this man has alcohol issues this would explain all this, they alienate everyone. And putting kids on the back burner is one of the signs. Its a sickness and if he didnt get help for it he wouldnt have changed. the ppl that live in the area probably know of all the problems between Mom and dad and the family. Seems very very strange no one is saying anything at all. I feel Elaine only came out and said what she said about her EX was to get it out there that there have been alot of problems and she wanted her ex looked at very closely and I do not blame her. All JMO

All JMO

I know I have brought this up before, but wouldn't it be helpful to issue an amber alert? I keep thinking what if, what if he is still alive and by now he could be anywhere. What if someone in a state far away has him and no one knows who he is? Is he not endangered? I don't know.

Well happy Christmas Eve, but unfortunately without Dylan. Hey buddy you still have like a bunch of iPhones waiting for you!

To all WS-ers merry Christmas Eve and happy holidays!

I wouldn't say that I believe it but I do believe it's still possible and I'm totally 10000000 % hopeful that you are right ! :)

It has been said on the facebook page this case does not fit the criteria for a amber alert .

And to much time has gone on for one now anyway , are they not issued within 24 hours of them going missing?

Some kind of alert? Not necessarily 24 hours, but wishful thinking on my part.

They only issue amber alerts when the criteria is met, generally, when they have a description of the abductor or his car. Other than that, they enter the missing person's info in the national database NCIC to alert police across the country, and issue press releases to the media to get the word out. Some children receive lots of media attention, even going 'viral' to the national level, but most don't.

It's up to family, friends, community, and people across the country who care to get the child's picture out by distributing flyers in their local towns and via the internet. There is no organized system in place to help with this. Missing person organizations can help families with it by creating publicity campaigns etc. Sadly, families of missing children are harassed so much, and bombarded by so many people of ill-intents, the families, in their vulnerable state, are afraid to engage with the organizations who could help.

I don't know what the answer is.

While I understand the desire to believe that Dylan is fine, I am wondering if this belief will change as time, and holidays pass? If we are still in the same place in another month? Three months?

Bless you, Seajay. You're such a sweet person.

Look at this old news story. I love it.

Elizabeth Smart Gives Hope to Shawn Hornbeck Family
By: Kate Scott

RICHWOODS, Mo. --The safe return of Elizabeth Smart has given new hope to the family of a missing Heartland boy.Eleven-year old Shawn Hornbeck was last seen near his Richwoods, Missouri home on October 6th.

While Shawn's family has never given up on his safe return, now they say they have even more reason to keep searching.

“I always keep that hope that we're going to find him alive,” says Shawn’s mother, Pam Akers. “But as time goes by, I have to be honest…the last couple of weeks it's been extremely hard on me. This definitely was the good news that I needed to renew my hope and renew my energy.” Pam Akers hasn't seen her son for more than five months now, since that fateful day the eleven-year old went out for a bike ride and never came home.
