Even though MR said Dylan understood he was leaving and would not be back until 11:30ish, perhaps Dylan really didn't understand in his tired, sleeping state. So, when he woke up, he only realizes his dad's gone and doesn't really remember him stating he'd be back to take him to his friend's house. JMO

So his phone dies, inexplicably. He doesn't remember any numbers, even his mom's home number--so he cannot use the landline. He doesn't know the password to the computer so he can't reach anyone that way. And he doesnt think to try his i-pod to text anyone. And on top of that, he has no recollection of his conversation that morning with his dad. So he packs up everything, doesnt leave a note for his dad, and the first person he runs into [ and the only person to see him apparently] is a cunning kidnapper/killer?

Not freezing cold. Not by any stretch from someone who lives at 7,900' of altitude in NM. So nice. Best T'day in years.

did you go for a long walk outside without a coat between 7:30am and 11:00am?

You/nor I know that MR cell phone worked for texting at his home. IF you know this, please post the link. TIA

ER has no idea where DR was located when she received texts from DR, in the past, since she wasn't there. ... IMO

DR friend R*** was at his grannys. I do not know if that granny was maternal/paternal granny. I do not know if DR had that programmed cell # into his cell? Do you?

Okay. Let's say there is NO cell service at MR's house.

Then why the heck did he rely upon texting to find out if Dylan had safely arrived at his friends? He waited until 4 pm to go check on him because he spent from 11:30 until 4:00 ' waiting' for him to reply. Sounds pretty hinky to me.

Wow, you got all that from my post? I'm pretty sure that's not what I said.

LE can't even tell us if the dogs picked up Dylan's scent at his dad's house. All they can tell us is that ALL communication from Dylan ceased a little after 8 pm Sunday night.

No, not all from your post. I was just cataloguing the general scenario for what had to happen to put Dylan out in the public and harms way that morning.

But what if none of those things happened? What if he willingly ceased all communication the night before and left Monday morning with someone he trusts very much?

MR cannot have it BOTH ways with the cell service story. Either there was texting or there wasn't/

If there wasn't, then why did he sit and wait for Dylan to reply to his texts from 11:30 until 4 pm?

Can't and won't are two totally different things.

Why would he text his good friend on Sunday, making certain he would be there to let him in at 6:30 am, and saying he would call him all day if need be---and then never contact him again?

And why would he leave on Monday morning without letting anyone know? What about his friends who were waiting for him? Why not tell them he wasn't coming?

And he knew his dad was coming back to get him---wouldnt he leave a note?

The biggest problem with statistics is that there are always exceptions. If 40% of missing children have been murdered by a parent (I have no idea what the actual numbers are, and I'm too lazy to look them up). that means that 60% of missing children have NOT been murdered by a parent. Even if the numbers were 95% and 5%, it would still mean that some of those children had something else happen, and there's no reason to assume that DR is not among those children. I hope I'm being clear, but I'm probably not. MOO

I am assuming those or any related statistics (means/motive and of course, who did it) have only been compiled in relation to solved cases. The stats don't account for the missing yet unsolved cases (a quick glance at WS topics gives some idea of these over the decades) or sadly those of society's "throwaway children" who come from such miserable backgrounds that nobody even knows they are missing.
Heck I can think of quite a few unsolved disappearances that occurred just during my own childhood - they made for a lot of worried parents nationwide.

LOL. Anyone can SAY anything on a website. Been there done that when I got stranded in Montana. SAID they had cell service/they didn't.

http://www.cellreception.com/towers/towers.php?city=bayfield&state_abr=co

Look here. FCC towers. Need to use the tools to back up a wee bit to SEE. triangulate that!!

yes anyone can say anything on a website

thanks for your link, but that only lists registered towers and there is an unregistered tower closer than that.

This was all hashed out in thread #15.

"Mark said
he tried texting Dylan all afternoon in an area with spotty cellphone service. When he didn't hear anything back by late afternoon, he went to Dylan's friend's house in Vallecito"

The whole article is worth a 2nd read.

He tells his son he will be back to pick him up. He comes back--son is gone, with no note or message left for him.

So what does he do? Does he drive a couple of miles to the Vallecito friend, to check there and get more numbers of the others?

NO. He :waiting: sits and texts and waits 5 hours for a reply. Apparently he waits to receive a tyext in an area that has NO CELL SERVICE. That makes me even more suspicious. Is he gambling his son's safety on spotty cell phone service?

Public Record ... anyone can do this.... I did nothing special.

enter Redwine, Mark

Atty: Cameron Secrist

http://www.secristlaw.com/

There's more ... just look!!

On about the 3rd doc down it says attorney for respondent (in this doc MR is the respondent)- Richard F Simms. Mr Simms is an attorney at the aforementioned Secrist office in Cortez. These docs appear to be all real estate related docs though. How do we know that this man operates as his divorce attorney as well? TIA :)
(I am a real estate broker and see these kinds of docs every day. Usually attorneys that handle such docs in my area do not handle divorces but not in all cases.)

The same few details have been hashed and rehashed for over 20 threads now - everything is rehashable. :)

Also, I don't believe that Dylan had secret online friends or secret older friends. I know that happens a lot with kids his age. But not usually with kids who have a lot of good friends and who have close family support. D was very close to his older brother, who apparently had his FB password. So I think CR watched his little bro pretty closely. My DS was always looking over his lil sisters shoulder and was very careful that she was not accepting messages from 'creepers' as they called them.

It is possible that a neighbor or a creepy friend of the family stopped by. That is a scary possibility. But it still does not explain why D didnt turn on his cell that morning. I would expect he would be looking at his texts while eating his cereal.

ETA: And if he had plans with a trusted person that morning, wouldn't there be an electronic record of it somewhere?
