Hmm. I use that emoticon often, but it doesn't mean scowling. More like "meh."
I see it all the time, but I'm usually too embarrassed to ask. What does "meh" mean anyway? :waitasec:

My 14 yr old says that's it from dylans kind of phone.
Abby , you just totally gave me a chill ,, a whole new idea. ''he got out of the truck to commit the crime, he committed the crime without getting blood or cadaver evidence on him or his clothes''
What if MR committed no actual crime at all? And still got the job done ? What if he drove way out into the sticks as high up as he could go and just told Dylan to get out of the car,,, get out and walk home if you're such a little know it all ( after arguing about phone/ friends etc) That makes me so sad to think about it but it could actually work. In rugged terrain, freezing temps and with no supplies, how long could a young guy make it ?
Ugh, is this possible? Please someone tell me why this cannot work.........as I'm sure you will all do ..........in 3 , 2 , 1![]()
Yes and he is not smiling or looking happy. If he was smiling then they would of captioned that.
I've thought about this scenario from the getgo. Put him out with his clothes, maybe a little food and water bought at walmart, and a fishing pole. Chilling thought huh? Something that led to his death?
I tend to question the sanity of people who walk around with a smile on their face at all times, especially in the Walmarts.
I didn't say he didn't like hanging around Elaine. I was quoting another poster who mentioned most 13-14 year olds would rather hang around their friends than their parents.
As far as having only one dad and wanting to see him because you haven't seen him in 2 months, 13 year olds don't think like that. They want instant gratification. He hadn't seen those friends in 2 months either. These are friends he spent most of his life with.
Emoticons are pretty subjective. We all see them differently or use them to mean varying things but presumably Elaine would know which ones her child uses and what they mean to him. If she says Dylan sent her a "scowl" then I see no reason to doubt her.
Are children closer to parents in the U,K then ??? ( A genuine question as i have never come across this in my circle of friends ) and i had a lot friends with divorced parents .
You always looked forward to going to see the parent you did not live with as you got spoilt rotten and they made a huge fuss over you and it was fun .
That caught my eye as well. I figured I missed something
really important earlier.

I was a child with divorced parents, and so were my siblings, several other relatives and a lot of friends. Not very many of us got spoiled rotten by the other parent, and many of us looked forward to other people we'd see during a visit more than we did to seeing the parent.
The court ordered visitation was because ER moved and they now needed to make arrangements for her to put DR on a plane to visit MR. That's what the court system is for, to schedule arrangements, figure out who pays for the plane ticket, etc.
"Dinner and a movie"? I don't remember my dad ever taking me out for dinner and a movie. That's not a father-son activity, that is a date :moo:
That's probably true. What I question is: Did he add the scowl because he didn't want to be with his dad, because he was arguing with his dad, or because she had sent him a text (possibly a few) while he was in the middle of discussing the visit with RN? The copy of the texts show that he had sent that to her between texts to R. It may have been after she had sent several asking him since it was well over an hour after he landed that he responded to her. MOO
to PaulR....
what is your opinion of MR not speaking publicly about Dylan's disappearance til 9 days after?
I don't necessarily think it's regional; maybe situational. I can remember being a teenager and not wanting to go on long summer vacations because I'd be away from my friends. I love my parents, but when you're young, parents are uncool and I'd rather hang with my friends than with the parental unit.
Well it could lead to death, but would that have been his intention? Maybe he thought he'd teach him a good lesson in life about backtalking a parent and when he didn't arrive home, then MR realized it got serious. It's sickening, but the whole scene is sickening. Someone caused this. At first I thought he might have injured himself or got lost hiking, fishing, what not. I no longer believe that at all. Someone caused this.
Wouldn't leaving him out to fen for himself in the wilderness be a crime? I would sure think so! And then if the commission of that crime led to or caused his death, then what would that additional crime be called?
Didn't it take about a week for MR to start complaining?
