I wonder what "does not believe" actually means. Does it mean that it's unlikely that a sex offender is abducting children, or that it's not a possibility?

Or it could mean that they don't have solid evidence that a sex offender is abducting children but it is a possibility. Hard to say from that one comment. MOO.

I wonder if they are basing that on checking out all the local RSO. What about all the non registered SO or non local SO or SO who have not been caught yet? I do not understand how they can make that statement with 100% certainty.

I think they do not want to cause a panic in the community.

It kinds reminds me of Lizzie and Lyric's case where the FBI (FBI, mind you!!) stated early on (July 2012) they felt the girls were alive. Once their bodies were discovered (December 2012), it seems as if Lizzie and Lyric were probably not alive at the time the statement was made. :bang head: :furious:

I'll just stick with direct quotes in MSM. Thanks for the suggestion though!

It would indeed be confusing to have a direct quote document with things that aren't direct quotes lol.

In your research, have you found any direct quotes (or even indirect statements) from the police (or anyone else) about the phone being shut off at 8pm Sunday night? I keep seeing it stated over and over here as a fact, but after extensive searching, I just can't find anything. There's the facebook rumor that it was shut off Sunday night, but just nothing I've found about "shut off at 8pm".

Thanks in advance!

it's been posted before but law enforcement (Bender) just said "sometime Sunday evening."

BENDER: My understanding is -- and our investigators have checked his cell phone. Also, cell phones have GPS`s, so if they`re turned on, that gives a general location of the person. And we have been following up on those right along, and there`s been no activity on his phone whatsoever since Sunday evening sometime.

and ER said Dylan's phone records reflect it was 8pm

From that comment, I'd say the sheriff's department would lose a lot of credibility (and that's putting it mildly!) if it turns out there is a sex offender abducting children.

I think they pretty much know what happened and are now trying to prove it, and of course part of that proof is finding Dylan. :moo:

They could always deflect any criticism by saying "we made that comment based on the information available to us at that time." LOL.

If LE really does "pretty much know" what happened and it doesn't included a sex offender, they could say "based on what we know, we don't believe that a sex offender is abducting children." That statement would be clearer, but not absolute, in it's message to the public. MOO.

Since I have it broken down by "WHO SAID" - I have to look through each individual's "DIRECT QUOTES". Off the top of my head, I don't believe anyone (including LE) has used the term "SHUT OFF". Maybe Facebook (???) if I remember, and it may have been the site that was taken down. NOT SURE. I'll look and get back ASAP.

There is less new to discuss here than MI's thread. At least there we have ninjas and talk show appearances. You need to go check back in there now that the latest post is out.

What point stands? His mother said he had a hard time with mornings, so hard that on school mornings, when he had to get up he'd shower and dress the night before. Meaning on non-school mornings, he'd tend not to get up. That's how I take what Elaine said. She's his parent, his other parent, Mark, indicated the same thing - that Dylan had a hard time getting up when he didn't have to.

I take the parents at their word, because they surely know Dylan better than I do.

Here's ER's quote from Nancy Grace:
REDWINE: No, and I appreciate that. You know, Dylan was always good. He always had to wake up for school early. So irrespective of what time he went to bed, you know, he was really good about waking up. So if he had plans at 6:30 to meet with his friends, you know, it`s uncharacteristic of him not to be up and ready. So, you know, I just -- I know him. And I know him very well. And I think that, you know, he definitely would have been up and ready at 6:30, 7:30, whenever in the morning.

I believe it was later said that DR's phone doesn't have GPS, which probably means the phone is more than 2 years old. MOO

Neither of them say shut off. Just that activity/texts stopped.

On the texts stopping at 8pm, we know from Dylan's friend's published records that there were texts sent from Dylan's phone between 8 and 9:27, but we don't have the time of the last one.

If you do come across anything saying the phone was shut off at 8, would you please let me know? Thanks!

on the Find Missing Dylan Redwine facebook timeline it states "his phone has been turned off since 8pm Sunday night" (11/18) & GPS is not available on his phone.
