has anyone ever wondered if someone ( friend or foe) came by looking for dad that morning? After he had left? And for some reason Dylan went with that person(s) willingly, or not?

Considering MR had an appointment for that morning, why would someone go look for him?

I'm not sure MR would have told all of his acquaintances that he was going to see a lawyer on Monday morning. If I'm taking the day off from work, I don't say why or where I will be.

I am not sure MR has many acquaintances. That would go looking for him without contacting him first.

Well, IMO, that would eliminate known acquaintances of MR because I'm fairly confident anyone who knows MR would have been checked out.
Matter of fact, I'm fairly confident all known relatives, friends and acquaintances of ER, MR, CR, et al would have been checked out very early, and there have been no indications of anyone else falling under the microscope in any way, shape or form. JMO

I agree...and there's still that pesky little fact....that Dylan's phone has been off since Sunday night.

I would be more open to the idea of Dylan having accepted a ride if his Dad was doing more on his behalf now. To me, his (non) action does not match a firm belief that his son has been kidnapped. JMO

I sure have. It's my #1 most 'workable' theory.

Exactly.

MR said he is a private person.

Heck, IMO, any normal "private person" would forego any privacy issues if their child's life was at stake.

I've suggested it a couple of times, but it doesn't seem to go over very well. :twocents:

If that did happen then it still does not explain away Dylan taking most of his items with him that day. He has no reason to carry around all his items on him.

but...what if they were unscrupulous 'acquaintances'...that maybe dad didn't 'realize' he was on their radar, came by for some unusual reason, not caring whether dad was there or not, and an opportunity arose, or they 'knew' there was an opportunity...and Dylan would have no clue they were friend or foe
I am using plural, though it includes singular
hey I am just throwing stuff out

Also if a friend of MR picked up Dylan i would of thought he would of left a note or sent a text.

It is possible. Not likely to me, but possible. I just don't see it, as Dylan knew he had a ride. Why would he not leave a note, if the famous phone was indeed broken? The only way I see him taking off is if he had had a fight with Dad and they were not speaking.

And then, (JMO, and all that good stuff) but what are the chances that Dylan would go anywhere with a "friend" or acquaintance of dad's if they were fighting? He wouldn't be in much of a "dad friendly" mood and would tend to look at dad's friends as such. Probably think they would just tell on him anyway, so why bother with them.

Also would LE not look into friends of MR on the off chance and they would surely have a record.

If you go along with a friend stopped by and took Dylan then what are the odds that this is his first offense of this nature ?

Wasn't the plan for Dylan to spend a few days with his friends? Why wouldn't he bring his backpack in that case?

I have never seen that mentioned and no indication of that in the texts ?

Not necessarily. Dylan wanted to go to a friend's house that day, and Mark knew that. If the "family friend" drops by and says "oh, your dad called me and asked me to drop you off at your friend's house", Dylan would not leave a note because he thinks that MR knows he left and why.

This theory is making more and more sense to me.

First offense or first time he's been caught? Those are two very different questions. Look at all the sex offenders who go years or decades with molesting children before they are caught. This is sadly too common.
