I so agree. I've been told the same thing, but it's one of those things when your kids are missing. I can't imagine not agreeing to whatever they wanted.

I also have been told by a very good defense attorney to never agree to a polygraph. I asked him, "So what if you know 100% you are innocent, and taking and passing the poly could get LE off your back?" His answer was that in that case, you hire your own reputable polygraph examiner and take the test without LE's knowledge. If you pass clean and clear, you take the results to LE yourself. If you had a good examiner, they will probably accept it flat out. Or they may ask you to take another at that time, and if you passed the first, you should pass the second. But if you don't pass the test you pay for, you never mention it to LE or agree to take theirs.

He says far too many innocent people fail tests (and many guilty ones can pass) and so you want to know in advance how you will do.

In the video of Elaine and Cory, Cory is speaking as if he is suspicious of dad, where elaine is trying to not so much. But much earlier in the investigation she was also suspicious of mark. I think they are both suspicious of mark but she wanted him to hear this interview in hopes that he might reconsider and communicate with them. And that's my opinion only!

I'd be much less concerned about the lie detector test if MR was showing himself more to the media, pleading for the return of his son or for information about Dylan's whereabouts, etc. When a child is missing, why all the evasiveness?

Just MOO

I've seen members consider all of those things, and more, but after one or two posts the subject seems to change to how that theory can't be right because it doesn't involve MR. I personally find the lack of phone activity easy enough to explain, but there are a couple of other things that bother me a bit. I'll just have to keep thinking on them, I guess.

MOO

Yes all those things have been mentioned or suggested, but I'd hazard a pretty confident guess that the discussion around them would not even fill one thread out of 25. Heck the posts about what we haven't seen on the Walmart video would probably fill a thread of their own.

The public would eat you alive if you ever tried to pass polygraph results (that someone you hired had administered) as legitimate, especially if there is a lot of suspicion on you.

I was curious what those who focused on MR's shaking his head no during his interview thought of ER's head shaking in this one. JMO

That'ss why at that point you agree to take one of theirs if they want. But that way you know in advance how you will do... and so does LE. And you don't just give them your results, you give them the whole shebang, including video of you taking the test. He said LE will often just accept the poly and clear you - they don't have to tell the public you passed your own poly, or even that you took one on your own.

Apparently it happens.

Mostly the same thing- that she doens't believe what she is saying. The head shaking is pretty evident for MR at the end, when she's assuring us that she cannot believe MR would harm their son.

I don't think anyone gets cleared that easily. Maybe if there's no forensic evidence linking you, you have an ability, plus you passed the polygraph.

I can't imagine hearing that Terri Horman was cleared simply because she passed a polygraph, for example.

ETA: To me, what you're describing, makes it sound like the suspect and LE are buddy-buddy. I mean, clearing you because of a polygraph, not telling the public that you hired someone to administer the test, etc.

Um, she's pretty much shaking her head the whole interview not just when she says she can't believe MR would harm Dylan. JMO

I don't put much stock in the shaking head/not shaking head thing, but most of what Elaine said in this interview was in the negative, which would coincide (I would imagine) with shaking your head in the negative. She did nod when she said she has to believe that Dylan is alive, so, I didn't see anything out of the ordinary in what she did.

Yea- just watched it again. Reflects for me the rock and a hard place she is in. I have said many times I think ER thinks MR has all the answers but to go on teevee and ask for assistance and help searching for Dylan, she has to sell the hope that Dylan is alive out there somewhere, which in my heart of hearts I don't think she believes.

Unless you can link up something showing MR is depressed it can not be discussed.

:tyou:

I think this is exactly right. I think Cory is coming from the heart and Mom is thinking this through. She knows right now it would be best to try to get MR to communicate with her. She's got nothing else! (And very smart IMO)

I don't think anything is going to draw MR out . He has made his stance and I can not see that changing until something pops up that clears him or indicates its him.

MOO

I agree!

MR and ER have not agreed on anything in a long time. Over 7 years.

With that said one would think with their child missing they could put aside their differences for a meeting of the minds on how to handle this catastrophe in their lives.

Remembering too that they do have another son that deserves their love and consideration during this tramatic event in his life. Cory has been pretty much forgotten during this hunt for Dylan. Hugs to him. I hope he is getting a bit of support from his half brothers.

This is heart wrenching to watch and think about.

Oh, I don't put any stock in that at all. I was just curious of the opinions of those who do.

LE has stated several times that they are not calling MR a suspect, that they do not consider him a suspect.

LE has a weird way of stating anything. "I observed the subject apparently assaulting the victim, and what appeared to be blood, that was confirmed after a persumptive test was emitting from his nostrils. I determined that the subject was approaching the victim in an aggressive manner and fearing further injury to the victim, I drew my weapon and gave the subject a command to cease his actions."

Instead of "I saw 🤬🤬🤬 beating the daylights out of yyy, yyy bleeding profusely from the nose, and since yyy was getting the worse of it and it looked like 🤬🤬🤬 wasn't going to stop and was intending to kill yyy, I pulled my gun out, aimed it at 🤬🤬🤬 and told him to freeze or I was gonna shoot him."

I think Cory is Elaine's rock right now. Far from forgotten about and much needed by his mother

That's an awful lot of weight to put on the shoulders of such a young person who is already under an enormous amount of stress. I would think that her boyfriend/fiance would be a better source of strength under the circumstances. Maybe I just feel that way because my stepfather was the rock in my family throughout a lot, including my mother's 15 year battle with cancer and eventual death. MOO
