What the guy said is a rumor and makes no sense whatsoever. No one would go this far to hold a child, who is alive, to make someone look bad. What would be gained? To make MR look bad? He already did that to himself, in the past.

This could be a ploy to help MR feel that he is not under so much suspicion, that they are looking at a different angle.
Just a thought...

If you need something to help you hang onto your theory, go read about Daniel Christensen. He's Dylan's age and ran away for longer than Dylan has been gone. It may be highly improbable, but at least it's slightly possible. MOO

Well that was pretty interesting. Around the same age. And someone was keeping him safe and warm and taken care of. It seems there were a lot of issues in that family.

Now if someone thought Dylan needed a safe place for whatever reason, the same thing could have happened. Even though LE said Dylan was not a runaway, and LE knew from the beginning the DC was a runaway, are they REALLY sure??? I wonder how well he got along with MH. Who knows what LE has uncovered in their investigation.

So me believing that Dylan is alive somewhere and in hiding might not be such a way out there idea after all. It's not like it hasn't been done before. JMO

Well it would certainly explain MR and his non actions in looking for Dylan!

But he still had visitation. If he "lost" the kid on his watch, that would make him look bad and put his rights in jeopardy. The courts and CPS love stuff like this. JMO

But it makes no sense. How does it make MR lose his custody rights? For that to ever happen, Dylan would have to reappear. And he would have to tell the cops where he has been all of this time.

How would that make MR 'look bad' if he wasn't the guilty party?

This scenario makes no sense at all, imo.

Thanks for that post. No one would lose custody/visitation because of this unless he was responsible (MR) and it was proven! CPS are generally good people who are already over worked. They don't like to get involved in petty (manipulative) divorce issues unless they have to.....MOO.:banghead:

I was reading in the Kara Nichols case where the parents made themselves available to talk to media, and no reporters showed up. It just seems like unless a case has a twist or something that would sensationalize the case, the news media is not interested. Kara disappeared in October and her case has gotten very little media in months.

It's sad to see so many missing persons out there and after the intitial reports, the media just isn't interested, until they are found, either dead or alive. If they are found dead, they got more of a story out of it later if there is an arrest and a trial. If they are found alive, it's not newsworthy any longer.

IMO - the media would talk to Mark as there he has a history of lashing out , he gets visitation rights and Dylan vanishes on his watch . Mum points out he is capable of hurting Dylan .

For the media it's a juicy story if Mark would talk as the media love this stuff.

After reading about the DC case, the boys didn't really have a lot in common.

CPS was already investigating Daniel's home for abuse and neglect. There are lots of allegations posted by MANY responsible sounding adults in Daniel's life.
And many of them KNEW where he was being hidden. Apparently a woman who knew the family took him in and cared for him and hid him for months. Daniel did not want to be found because he did not want to be sent back home.

If you look at the comments under this article you will see posts by his father defending his discipline tactics.-- K. N from Great Falls

He sounds reasonable but there are a lot of people saying he is anything but reasonable.

Anyway, there are no allegations like that concerning ER's home. Cory is a great older brother and I don't believe that D was wanting to hide away from his family. JMO

I have personal experience that says differently. They fall for petty manipulative people who use them to destroy families. The first one that shouts gets heard, the other always ends up having to defend themselves against the lies of the first and at that point CPS has swallowed all the lies and repeats them in courts. But then that's another story. Been waiting for years to get the money together to sue the living daylights out of CPS. MOOOOOOOOOO

I'm truly sorry you had a bad experience with CPS. There are rotten apples in every profession.:moo:

I don't know about this theory only because from ER's own mouth MR didn't exercise his rights too regularly so what could be gained from removing them altogether? Already he doesn't see DR too much and now with a move it would be even less........
I mean anything is possible and I'll discount nothing until we know what happened, but all of that trouble PLUS jeopardizing your own freedom , it just doesn't make sense. IMHO

Edit to add : almost nothing in this case makes sense, so I guess any theory is as reasonable as the next at this point, right?

I don't believe Elaine was guessing. It could be MR was told his results & he shared that info. with someone who passed it on to ER. It also happened in the Horman case, Kaine's older son overheard Terrie on the phone telling someone she failed IIRC. My point is we don't know how or where she received this information, but I believe her as well as what Corey said. ETA - Since they have been vocal publicly about this, I would think they totally trust their information is correct.

Maybe not, but she did seem confused on NG whether he passed or failed or it was inconclusive or whether he had taken another one, or even if he had been asked to take another one or not. She apparently had told the producer one thing before the show, and then said she didn't say that, IIRC.

I don't think she was told by LE, there would be no reason for them to tell her his results, since they are divorced. So that leaves the option that either Mark told someone else who relayed it to Elaine or Corey, or he told her himself, which I doubt, since both have stated that they don't communicate.

The thing is, LE might tell someone they failed a poly or that it was inconclusive, but that is to gauge that person's reaction. Which leaves me with the conclusion that even IF someone told her he refused to take another one, that information may not be correct. IOW, she may trust her source, but that source may not know for certain, either way.

If the FBI administered those polys, they are not going to share the results with anyone except the detectives working the case, I am almost positive of that. FBI are very tight-lipped with details like that.
