I think this proves that Cory was right to organise this rally as Mark is suddenly speaking out . As long as its done in a respectful light its fine . And it must be a blue ribbon day as even LE have joined in and spoken .

Is Cory only 18 , as I thought he was 21 ? .. The new article says '18'

Obviously CR and ER believe that Mark is involved in Dylan's disappearance. I do not agree with the idea that if MR sat down with them, they would just completely buy his story, and everyone would be happy, and they could all work on finding the real abductor. One thing I've noticed about WS is that when people make up their minds about someone's guilt, it's very hard for them to a 180, unless someone else is arrested or that person is cleared. For example, there's nothing the Ramseys could do/say that would make RDI's start thinking they were innocent. Same for those who think Baby Lisa's parents are involved in her case. That's why suspicious people are criticized if they don't talk to the media, if they talk to the media so-so, or if they are constantly in the news. Because once you think someone is guilty, everything they do is, is what a murderer does. Now, considering that ER and CR are Dylan's family, I think it would take A LOT for them to move away from Mark, like an arrest of someone else, and Mark talking to them, is not going to make them just change their minds.

It has been my experience here at WS that most posters base their opinions on the evidence (or lack thereof) given to us by LE. Sometimes we have verified insiders that give us more concrete information.

In this case, LE has choosen to keep all or most evidence in their small circle. At this time, LE knows Dylan was in La Plata county by the photos at the airport and Walmart. They know something happened because Dylan quit communicating sometime Sunday evening.

Yes, Elaine and Cory have been vocal and I'm glad - they want to know where Dylan is.

Yes, Mark appears to hold those answers at this time (for them and for me).

As more evidence in Dylan's case is released, that evidence will be followed and possible new opinions about who/what/where will be discussed.

WS is a great place that let's us all present our opinions. We are not always going to agree but if we did....how boring would that be?

We all want answers about what happened and where is Dylan. :seeya:

That's what I'm saying; People make up their opinions based on evidence. Their opinions do not change base on what people say and do in the media. Especially for more "established" cases that are months/years old. Casey Anthony could never speak a word to the press for the rest of her life, not step in the spotlight, and no one is going to start thinking she might be innocent.

Thanks for the link. So Mark is arranging thru his Atty. for a mediator. Good. Now to follow thru.....

Agreed, but two months ago he wanted to sit down, not go out dinner, they should work together. (I really can't remember how he said it but the point is there)
And two months later he still hasn't sat down with ER.

From what LE does say, it seems clear that they are not focusing on some other suspect, or seeking an unknown stranger. I hope they know what they are doing. I just feel like this case will not be solved.

I remember a few weeks ago, LE said that everyone working on Dylan's case is also assigned to other cases. La Plata County has 50k residents, and is rural. I find it hard to believe there are many other active missing person cases, or even unsolved murder cases. So it makes me think the officers working on Dylan's case are also checking out the noise complaints at some party. I understand that they probably don't have a ton of LE, but you would think having like 2-3 assigned only to the case wouldn't be that difficult. It makes me think they don't have much to work with, so there's no point in having some LE only assigned to this case.

Also interesting is when they say they only get 2-3 tips a day, but haven't done anything since then to increase that number....

Does anyone think he's actually going to arrange this meeting with Elaine through his divorce attorney?
If nothing else this whole rally thing has gotten him to say a few words. It's not much. I think he's getting the message loud and clear that people think he looks bad for not being out there helping find his son though. I don't know that it will change anything but hopefully. He seems like he just wants a pity party to me. And it seems that it's all about having control over Cory and Elaine. But he can't control an angry mob :) I'm just not real confident that anything substantial is going to come out of this.

Another stall tactic
Another way that shows he gets to make the decisions
Another way of controlling

Another game; another day

If nothing else, all of this flap has reminded the region that Dylan is still missing. I remember Kaine Horman doing some events at local malls and such and being shocked to find that many people assumed Kyron had been found long ago, since they never heard about him anymore.

If this is a waiting game with regards to evidence to bring charges, it still would not hurt for LE to ask, people to keep their eyes open on their properties, on hikes, etc. States like Colorado are used to,snow and do not just shut down for the winter, plenty of people are out and about in the wilds.

And to me it's really simple. If he's innocent go take that 2nd poly, talk to your ex wife and son and tell them everything you know and put some effort into helping find this son you claim to love so much.

On the flip side IF he is guilty. He can't take another poly and he probably can't sit down and have an entire conversation with Elaine without her being able to tell he is lying.

Innocent? Simple. Guilty? Not so simple.

The entire point of a mediator is getting a neutral party to bring both sides to a table. His divorce attorney is hardly a neutral party. I imagine, however, ER would get in the room with just about anyone if she thought MR would be forthcoming. I'm gonna bet this offer never comes and is, as some have noted, a stalling tactic.

Dylan- where ARE you?

Lawyers work with independent mediators all the time.

Very low violent crime rate there. First missing person in decades, literally. Absolutely zero murders in Bayfield or Vallecito though Durango has had a few. Ran the crime states many threads back and was shocked at the low rate of violent crime. Still- lots of drug crime and assault and battery to keep 'em busy.

Why has it taken months and Mark backed into a corner before he will sit down with Elaine and Cory ! . We will have to wait and see if he follows though on this as at the moment it's just "talk' .

  • #838
His lawyer is not going to want him taking a 2nd poly, which will put things off the rails right there, I'm sure. But I think Elaine just wants to hear what happened, the tiniest details and believe she will know if he is telling the truth or not.

Yeah, I think having a few officers solely assigned to a missing person case that's only two months old is not asking too much. According to their website, there are 131 employees of the La Plata County Sheriff's Office.

He doesn't want to speak with the family, they've had a contentious relationship at best. As they continue to throw shade about him into the media (while he remains silent) I can imagine he's thinking they can all go pound sand. He'll work directly with LE.

All this mess about polygraphs...they already have questionable validity at best and aren't admissible in court. It's a pseudo-science that is more likely to hurt MR than help Dylan. Wikipedia sums it up nicely, with original sources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polygraph#Validity
