First post as a WS'er. I have been reading off and on about Dylan and some of the other missing persons cases. I don't know if the idea of bear attack has been explored. I know I have seen posts mentioning mountain lion attacks, but not bears. I may have missed it though.

Posted in Sept. 2012, the article mentions "a significant rise in black bear sightings and encounters, specifically in southern Colorado cities like Durango and resort areas such as Vallecito Lake."

It's sad to think that this may have happened, but is a very real possibility to me.

Black bears are generally shy, and, according to what I've read black bear attacks are exceptionally rare.

I also believe there would have been some sort of sign. The bear would not eat a backpack, fishing pole, and cell phone. I'm guessing not his (quite unusual) shoes either.

Dan Bender, a spokesman for the La Plata County Sheriff's Office, said investigators from the beginning had considered the possibility that a crime was the cause of Dylan's disappearance.
“We've looked at the criminal aspect early on, since the second day he was missing,” he said.
As days went by with no sign of Dylan, investigators ruled out that he ran away.
“We're left with kidnapping and foul play,” Bender said

Yeah, that's why I was confused when someone said that they believed the only possibility LE was considering was kidnapping. I thought maybe I missed a news bulletin or something.

From what I have read Mark does not sound like a patient man so I can not se him just going home and being like " oh , he is with his friends " when he had made plans to pick Dylan up . I would at least expect a phone call at that stage just to see where my child was as he was not where he should of been .

He did visit Dylan's friends but it was not till about 4 ish . So that's 4/5 hours without a word from Dylan before he does something .

I do think Mark is being watched , it may even only be neighbours and so forth but he is being watched and judged IMO ... It's clear from some of the comments I have read that a lot of people have doubts about his Story ! moo

I was asking about the portion of the post that said he would have to get permission from LE to leave. but, that is okay. Not a biggie. Wonder if they put a tracking device on his vehicles when they had them. That would be a good thing. jmo ty
