Yes- the reservoir is the lake...4 miles from MR's door and the road passes many residences and a few businesses on the way. I have studied google maps for hours trying to puzzle out where he could have wandered. There is also easy access to the stream feeding the reservoir much closer to the home, ergo no need to go to the lake to fish.

I remember reading that early on. I spoke to my friend last night who has a home in Durango. They were there Dec. 27th but did not stay for Christmas because of the extreme temperature. They only went into town (durango) for dinner one time and they saw no posters or anything pertaining to DR. They left the area and went to Telluride for the holiday and also did not see anything there about Dylan. She also told me that the trip from Vallecito to Bayfield was not an easy trip as you have to deal with mountains. jmo

Harry Oakes is still around. They would have to give him a pretty specific area to search and it takes time. I don't know how the reward fund is set up or by whom?

Yes, I was thinking of an organization like Klaas Kids. They offer a wider spectrum of services than NCMEC does. Parents of missing children can call NCMEC to get a list of recommended organizations the parents can call to request their services.

AZGrandma, do you know if ER/CR have contacted Mark Klaas?

I'm surprised he's being recommended based on his statements on NG and his feeling that MR "has to be a lot more forthcoming if we're going to have a chance of finding Dylan." More importantly, wouldn't he be perceived as being partial to ER/CR in their contention that MR knows more than he's saying? Would he be considered "harrassing" if he supports ER/CR's rally? Just curious...

And also, the father is being very mean towards the mother and the brother. He`s not contacting them. He`s not providing any information to them. He`s a reluctant witness, as far as the media goes.

So I can understand why people would point fingers at this guy. And I think that he has to be a lot more forthcoming if we`re going to have a chance of finding Dylan.

I don`t believe this little boy ran away. His cell phone, apparently, was turned off immediately, which was out of character. So nothing is adding up in this case.

I see a family who's suffering, and was trying to think of something that would be helpful to them. I'm shocked at the response. How anyone could go against the idea that an established, reputable, professional missing child organization is a bad idea for a suffering family of a missing child just is completely beyond my comprehension, particularly on a forum like this one.

Yep- four miles to the tip of the lake closest to the house. The lake itself is about 12 miles round trip and the dam is at the far end (away from MR's house). So the dam is probably 10ish miles from his door. After looking at the lake and the dam area, I increasingly lean against the possibility of Dylan being in the lake, even if I suspect Dylan coming to harm on Sunday night. Unless you have a boat, it looks fairly hard to get access to anywhere deep enough to submerge a body where it would sink quickly. The road does cross the dam but it does not look like there is easy access to carry a 100 lb body over the side. Could be, sure, but easy? No. So this makes me think that searching in the high country and in eastern Colorado might be based on pings? Sightings? Areas where someone might frequent in their work?

I see it both ways, my Dylan just turned 12. Clearly not a little boy by today's standards. But considering my other two boys are 25 and almost 23, I refer to Dylan as "my little boy" and will probably do that even when he's a grown man. He probably won't be thrilled about it though.

Anyone know how searchers might go about locating a body underneath all that snow? Do cadaver dogs work in the snow? I am *clueless* about such things. And yes, southern Colorado seems to be having a mildish winter but there is still several feet of snow on the ground that fell around mid-December, I believe, and stayed.

Hate that I am speaking of bodies. Still hoping Dylan is holed up someplace warm but trying to understand what LE is searching for on their snowshoes....

Yes...the HRD dogs. I just hate to say that. I'm feeling too attached to the case today. Some days, I'm more...stoic. Today I just want to cry and vomit.

With Dylan gone Mark held the power. Something he hadn't had in a long time. His wives and children had moved on and were happy. He wasn't 't.

He couldn't stand it. Dylan was his last stand.

He could sit in his home and do nothing. Kind of like Nero fiddling while Rome burned.

This planned rally can't be sitting well with MR.

Unless he really does love to play the martyr. Then it's perfect!

Some of the LE interviews or searches could be related to those that could have a reason to be in the area -- guys who fish, guys who had business in the vallecito area, guys who have family or friends they visit in the area, guys who own any of the cars that may have been spotted driving through town overnight on cams from business on the main route.

I read TOS says that we can discuss sex offenders but not harass them (naturally). So what does that mean exactly?

LE has said the Sex offenders in the area had been checked out and was not suspects . If I remember correctly
