The iPod Touch is cheaper in the long run than and iPhone or smartphone because of the data usage. I have 4 children, all four have cell phones and iPod Touches. It was much, much cheaper to have both.

Wow! I thought I was the only parent with this situation! My poor dd complains that she is the ONLY teenager without an I-phone. She has a tablet computer, cell phone and Ipod touch. She is able to use ALL 3 at the same time. She goes through the wifi.

You know what, you are right. In the long run it IS cheaper. However, from my personal experience, people are far more reluctant to release that cash up front than pay it out monthly. $300 for iTouch or $99 for iPhone up front then $10 a month.

This is my personal plan. We bought our son an iphone for Christmas this year for $99 and we pay an extra $10 a month for the data plan on top of what we were already paying monthly for ours.

Mark Redwine said that he is willing to talk to his ex wife Elaine using a mediator.
He said he spoke with investigators and they recommended that he and Elaine Redwine get a mediator and meet to clear the air. He said he plans to do that through his divorce attorney.
Does anyone think that the protest at Marks home tomorrow will affect his decision on talking with Elaine?

If the gathering is peaceful and respectful of peoples property will that be more conducive for later talks between Mark and Elaine?

What if people get a bit excited and cause some property damage? Would that drive Mark away from some constructive dialog with Elaine?

I'm interested in seeing how this plays out.

Same here (my poor, deprived children lol) Mine also use wifi only.

For the iPhone it would have been about $100 out per phone, then $50 per phone per month for a large data plan. Our regular cell phones are supposed to only be $10 a mo. for the extra phones but it doesn't work out that way. Our bill is over $250 just for the regular phones. The iPod touches were a one time price. (hope that makes sense)

Holy schnikes, that's a lot!! We each have a phone (4). 3 are smart phones which require data and one flip phone with no data. With Sprint, we pay $200 per month for unlimited text and data.

Wouldn't just the fact his son is missing account for him being in a sad state of mind?
Oh, definitely. I was addressing those who think he was crying fake tears, putting on an act, and the like. Not aimed at WSers, but in general from MSM and FB comments I have read. The post was meant only **IF** MR was involved.

I spent some time Googling for things related to text messages not showing up on your phone bill. I found a few things -

- an incredible number of people want certain texts not to show in their cell records because they are cheating and don't want their significant other to catch them. Not related to this case, but made my endeavors take a whole lot longer sifting through all that stuff.

- phones use something called SMS to send texts and they show up on your records

- ipods use something called imessage which is data so they don't show up on your records

That's just my understanding, and I don't know anything about this stuff. I just thought maybe somebody who's technical might be able to look at that and understand what it's saying and see if it's true. I just don't know what to Google next to try to confirm it or refute it but if it's true, then that could account for the 9:37 text.

German for mom? Someone correct me if that's wrong.

German for something like mama or mommy... a casual form of mother/mom.

I'm one of those people who lucked out and have unlimited data on my iPhone. I got grandfathered in after they changed the data plans and made people start paying for usage in tiers.

Thanks Cheese. I don't text and I don't own a smartphone or any other device that I can text with so my personal experience with text records is a big zero.

All I can say is that I believe that the recently released LE timeline is accurate because I feel that they would know what is real vs what is Memorex. JMO.

That makes sense. When I text someone who has my plan, it's mobile to mobile or iMessage. I thought it was to anyone who had an iPhone though until you explained it. I didn't know why some were iMessages and some were regular text messages.

All this text talk could be put to rest for good if Paul R. would make an appearance. Paul, where ARE you???

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who says schnikes, haha.:floorlaugh:

No kidding, where is Paul? We need to picket....er um rally him.

I had no idea what the difference was between imessage and text message on my phone. Looking back at messages between dh and I, some are imessage and some text message. We both have iphones and obviously on the same plan. Weird.

PAUL!!!!!!!

Not sure how, since we don't know if the phone was used, or something else, or even for sure, by whom.

Lol, yes, I'm a big fan of Chris Farley, God rest his soul. Tommy Boy will always be one of my favorite movies EVER.

We may not know what device was used, but LE clearly states it was Dylan's last contact, right?

That's the impression that I get from them. And that seems to put Dylan alive at 9:37 PM. He goes to sleep a bit after that. That fits with Marks story right?

I can text from my iPad and it doesn't show up on any phone bill. I have something called TextNow (which uses wifi) . My kids have something different on their iPod touches but it does allow them to text through the iPod using wifi and not phone services.

9:37PM Dylan’s last electronic device communication (texting)

it says Dylan's electronic device was communicating....doesn't necessarily mean Dylan personally was using the device.....someone else could have been using his device
