Dylan: will you gma care or be up

Ronald I find this particular statement that Dylan sends is very odd for a 13yr old...

...seems to me that MR typed the 'care or be up' question about gma to Ryan.

Remember folks this was the last TEXT we have privy to at 8:01 ish........NOTHING ELSE just stopped right there.

A teenager does not ask 'care' questions..........

MR took phone off him, typed that and all hell broke out..........IMO

Oh I agree there is only so much they can do with snow and ice!

Welcome to Websleuths. I have also noticed some of the language you and others have pointed out, indirect statements, unnecessary details and repetition of sensitive subjects. Whether people make a conscious effort to analyze or not, I think such language is one of the things that lead people to those "gut feelings" or feelings that something is just not right. Of course I am one of those people who thinks "gut feelings" don't arise out of a vacuum but have a definite underlying cause. All MOO

Definitely!

When i read the texts Dylan already seems down in the dumps and MR is the cause of that. Its quite easy to imagine they had a argument on the way home IMO .

I think a lot of people are thinking along those lines. If Dylan was reluctant about visiting and MR was still unhappy about the divorce, this family discord could lead to some harsh words. This could explain an angry episode that got tragically out of hand. But it also could explain why a normally level headed boy who felt he had already been disappointed twice (couldn't see his friends Sunday night and now left home on Monday morning) would decide to strike out hitchhiking and fall prey to a random criminal. There's a lot in the cell records we've seen and in the behavior and statements of MR that rouses my suspicions, but nowhere near the point of certainty.

To play devils' advocate squared here, I will mention that a big fight the night before and some really harsh language might also be reason for MR to be a little mum on the details, even if that's all he did wrong. Something like DR says FINE then I'll just walk to R's house ! and MR replies, OK hot shot, go ahead. Maybe overnight DR does strike out on his own and MRs guilt over the argument has made him feel ' responsible' for DR's fate even though he truly doesn't KNOW DR's fate. This is not really what I think happened, but it certainly could have or something similar. MOOOOOOOO More cowbell !

I agree that MR could feel responsible and seem to deflect, misdirect and feel defensive even if he had no part in Dylan's disappearance. Nothing has been ruled out except Dylan being a runaway, but the coincidences bother me. After a contentious custody battle, Dylan arrives and almost immediately disappears. The cell phone falls inactive for whatever reason. MR plans a 4 hour errand run the first full day of Dylan's visit.

I don't know, I would think that one would admit to an argument regardless of outcome. Maybe not the severity. But at least say yeah he wanted to go to a friends and I said no and he was upset with that. JMO also in the video where MR mentions how important friends are kind of gets me, because he did tell DR no and maybe he feels guilty about that? MOO

Maybe he did tell LE but can't bring himself to tell ER?
I'm just speculating. I'm trying to think of any tiny little
shred of something other than what I really THINK ! :)

Very true, Jjenny. Very true. That's what I was talking about when I said MR could lie all he wants but unless it can be proven he is lying (to the satisfaction of the local DA), then there is nothing to charge him with.

JMO and MOO

He has nothing to lose by lying! If he dosent get caught he gets away with it. Ff he gets caught whats a lying charge going to do?

BBM

Unbelievable, isn't it? I don't recall in any of his interviews asking for information about Dylan or begging for his return....
:banghead::banghead:

Why hasn't he?? Totally agree with your post.

BBM - especially in the uncut interview when the reporter says that he can say whatever he wants, and all he does is defend himself. That bothered me, there is an open invitation to beg or plead for your child, to say Dylan hang in there, we're gonna find you! But he takes the opportunity to defend himself. :furious:

And in the uncut version I saw he was all smiley and laughing before it started.
what a guy!

And I think there was a reply to ryans 9 27 text we just have not seen it JMO

MR has reported that his son was not home when he returned from running errands on Monday morning. That is the whole story from MR. If LE cannot find evidense of DR being in the home at all then that is an obvious lie and it would be ridiculous if LE had not already arrested MR. They can't be that incompetent. That would be a flagrant mistake and I don't think would be tolerated. jmo

I disagree, knowing MR lied and proving MR lied are two different things. Once an arrest is made, the clock starts ticking and the wheels of justice start turning. Having one piece (a lie that DR was in the home) would not be sufficient to charge him with anything other than perhaps obstruction or custodial interference. IMO

Is it even legal for a 13 year old to have a credit card? I don't think he had any credit cards. Credit cards are easily traced.

True that, but mom might have given him an extra for the trip, and he may have had some recent/old visa/mc/amex giftcard things. I know my kids receive these for gifts. If I thought, or even had an inkling that I thought my kid may run into trouble or need something, you can darn well bet I'd send some extra cash or card, as a just in case emergency thing. Interesting point about the money.

Who do you think the reply text of 9:37 was sent to? ty

Drunken driving, hit and run. He claimed someone else was driving the car when it hit the parked car. We ended up voting for conviction, only because he admitted himself on the stand that he moved the car from the street to park it in a lot while he was intoxicated. He went to prison for 5 years. The other 11 had to work overtime on me to get me there though. I didn't believe in the hit & run part. But I voted on the drunken driving.

I served on a jury once, too, for a guy accused of indecency with a child. IIRC, we took three votes during deliberations. The 2nd time, there were two holdouts for acquittal, but I was not one of them. I voted guilty every time.

What a shock!

I was an alternate juror on a child neglect case. Sat through the case for three days, and when deliberation time came, that was when I learned I was the alternate and would not be deliberating.

I'm not really going anywhere with this but all this jury talk made me recall that case. The jury clerk called me later and told me that the defendant (dad) was found guilty.
