I thought it might help to have a visual of triangulation (sorry if someone has already included one), just to help show what it can, and what it can't do in a case like this.

For triangulation to work, there has to be a minimum of 3 towers close enough for the phone to ping. In the diagram I've included there are 3 towers: A, B & C (although I believe there is only one usable tower near Vallecito). If a call pings only A, it is located somewhere in the yellow section; if it pings only B, it is somewhere in the pink section; if it pings only C, it is somewhere in the blue section.

If it pings both A & B, it is somewhere in the orange section (section 2); if it pings both A & C, it is somewhere in the green section (section 1); if it pings both B & C, it is somewhere in the purple section (section 3); if it pings all 3 towers, it is located in the brownish section (section 4).

If any of the towers have directional antennae, it will help narrow it down a bit more. For instance, if a ping hits a NE facing antenna on Tower C, but doesn't hit either of the other towers, the phone is most likely in the small section NE of the tower (black dot), south of section 1 and west of section 3. Depending on the amount of overlap, it could be a fairly large area, or a much smaller one.

I hope this helps a little bit.

If it was sent from the home and DR sent it, it supports MR's timeline of events and confirms that Dylan was actually in the home. A bazillion folks in here have thus far refused to accept that he was even in the home. This would destroy that scenario.

How so?
My husband could send a text on MY phone.
I could send a text on my husbands phone.

You dont know who is holding that phone.
Its not like a PHone conversation where yu hear a voice!

And I do not think he was ever in that house!

I thought people were adamantly saying that there was no cell service at the home?

Katy, it's been misunderstood IMO, just the same as MR is a truck driver and not home. Bits & pieces are taken and then we just can't remember what was verified. Some posted that they were able to get cell service right outside his door for the rally with no trouble. I hope this helps (also added the truck driving thing fwiw)

This is from Nancy Grace, air date 12/03/2012

REDWINE: You know, there is bad cell reception, but texts always seemed to come through. So while you can`t necessarily speak with someone on the phone...

GRACE: That`s true.

REDWINE: ... it doesn`t seem like I ever had an issue getting texts from Dylan up there.

GRACE: You know, that`s true. That`s a very common experience. You cannot get a cell to make a cell phone call, but you can get texts in and out. You can even get texts up in the air on an airplane somehow.

REDWINE: Right

and then in regaurds to MR's occupation: It keeps being said that he is a truck driver, when that hasn't been established for us, we know he use to drive trucks and we know that his job now requires him to drive from the office to the job site, but that doesn't mean he's an over the road long haul 18 wheel truck driver.

REDWINE: Yes. I mean, I just don`t think -- you know, we had joint parenting time. And because, you know, Mark had to earn a living and we live in a small community, he was on the road a lot. So he didn`t spend a lot of time with Dylan in the three years prior to Dylan moving to Colorado Springs. So I just don`t think he knew Dylan all that well.

GRACE: What does he do for a living that requires him to travel?

REDWINE: You know, I`m not 100 percent sure what his occupation is. I know that he used to drive trucks. So I assume it`s something along those lines.

It doesn't pay to be sick around here. Dare I ask what all I have missed?

WOW I'm sorry you feel that way, IMO the thoughts and opinions are not baseless nor parroting.
Everyone's opinion and thoughts are important. If someone questions them or ask for clarification or disagrees, IMO that's ok, we don't all agree and see things differently than others.
I don't believe a disservice is being done to MR, there is limited information on this entire situation so all we can do is make the best educated guess of the situation at hand based on the information we are given.

I so agree with this and I find it even more disturbing that anyone who simply disagrees with an opposing opinion cannot simply agree to disagree without being disrespectful of others. I look around everyday and I see this country divided and tearing apart merely because of personal views. Sad state of affairs.

I agree. I think that everyone here at WS can have completely different ideas and opinions. As long as we are all respectful to one another, there is no problem.

So the interviews are just going to be shown locally? And this is tonight?

Yes, tonight. Does anyone know if the news station will post the full interviews on their website/youtube account after it airs on television tonight?

9News typically posts to their website and facebook page. Since the reporter has a youtube channel, I think she'll probably put it there too.

If the child made it to the home and got up in the morning, as the father states, then there would have been a text from him to one/more of his friends (i.e. sorry, I was tired and overslept, and when my dad gets home, I will be coming to see you). Period. Nothing else makes sense.

The fact that a text came from the home @ 9:27 (or 9:37 whatever) has no bearing on the fact that this individual had, @ the very least, 9:37 to the next morning before anyone was even questioning his whereabouts. Basically, the fact that there is footage of him all over town that next morning means absolutely nothing.

If I can access any videos, I'd be happy to provide a transcript after the fact, if a transcript is unavailable.
