Again - a 13 year old boy abducted by a predator. Others have refused to believe this is even possible - that was my only point. Of course they aren't the same, yet posters reference other cases here all the time just as a matter of interest/comparison/contrast or yes, even similarities. Discussion of something other than MR, phone pings or fishing rods is all good with me.
:moo:
OK, I am assuming it's cold there. Why no mention of a jacket? Did he even bring a jacket? Doesn't it strike anyone else as weird that there is no mention of a jacket that, if it is not at his father's house, he would have to have brought with him and should be wearing?

I think we're getting mixed messages by LE/MSM:

Lt. Ed Phippen said all of the local registered sex offenders had been checked out and had alibis for the 48-hour period from when Dylan arrived at the airport to the time he was reported missing. Phippen wanted to reassure residents that the Sheriff’s Office “does not believe there is a sex offender abducting children” from the area.

And then you have this statement:

Dylan's disappearance is as rare as it is mysterious. It has been more than 25 years in the Four Corners since a child of Dylan's age disappeared without a trace and was never found. “It's not something any of us could forget,” said San Juan County sheriff's Lt. Cory Tanner.

The National Center For Missing and Exploited Children keeps records of all missing children in each state. The only minor from San Juan County who vanished and has not been found was Tiffany Reid, who was 17 when she disappeared on her way to school in Shiprock in May 2004. Reid had a history of running away from home, according to the website.

The only southwestern Colorado child who disappeared and was never found was Christopher James Harvey. He was 14 when he vanished in 1984 from his family's summer home in Hinsdale County, which is 17 miles northwest of Pagosa Springs.

Never has a missing child not been accounted for in the Four Corners region of Arizona and Utah. Children run away from home on a regular basis and are sometimes gone for long stretches, Tanner said. But the cases have always been resolved.

and then more recently:

Bender:
He either left the house and someone abducted him or something happened while he was still at the house.

I believe there is a quote somewhere by MR that Dylan didn't have a coat but had a "hoodie" if I recall correctly...

Transcript for 9News Live Interview - Melissa Blasius w/ MR, ER, CR and Bender

Sorry - Dropbox not working for some reason and was having trouble getting anything to "attach" in a post.

This time it worked.

Again, sorry..
Thank you! Bender does not say the last text was at 9:37. Melissa Blasius is the one that says that. Solve one mystery for me.

certainly predators can and do abduct children, although we also know that not all children who disappear are taken by predators.

the only similarities that compare the cases of Daniel and Dylan is their age and gender, the circumstances surrounding each case are very different.

was the road that Daniel disappeared from a rural one way in one way out road?

You know what, I almost wish we had not heard from LE last night, in a way, because if they are not playing some word games and secretly getting ready to move on MR, then they are really no closer than about two months ago, to finding out what happened to Dylan.

What are the mixed messages?

I believe there is a quote somewhere by MR that Dylan didn't have a coat but had a "hoodie" if I recall correctly...
Not in this transcript. No mention of any jacket or hoodie. I find that odd. He should at least have a sweatshirt or light jacket minimum.

Here's what you're referencing, I believe... and it is not a direct quote from Bender. So..... is it factual because a reporter writes it and doesn't quote it?

Dylan sent text messages throughout the evening. Investigators say the last text went out at 9:37 p.m. Mark Redwine says he watched a movie with his son until about 10:30 p.m., and he went upstairs to bed as Dylan settled in for the night on the couch.

It would make it a lot easier for me organize things if I knew which way to fly with MSM reporter says vs. a quoted individual says. KWIM?

IMO, whenever LE can't, for whatever reason, get past a parent or parent, we seem to see no resolution. We have listed the litany of names many times before, Ayla, Kyron, Isabel, Hailey, Haleigh, Lisa, Amir, Hasani, Joshua, etc.

I fear this case will be no different. It is a very depressing state of affairs and I am not sure what, if anything, it says either about how LE deals with these cases, or the state of family dysfunction, or maybe something else.

Most of the stranger killings have resulted in bodies being left carelessly and not too far away. Strangers with no connection to the child usually do not worry much about being connected to the crime, it seems. But why is it when a parent is still in the frame, the child usually remains unfound?

His mom has said that she packed a hoodie sweatshirt in his backpack. There was no mention of a jacket, but many hoodies have fleece lining.

Yep they seem to have him in the same outfit as the night before so that would be a tee-shirt and shorts !

The search for missing Colorado DR continues, with cold weather coming the latest concern
is if he’s still out there can he survive. Tonight in LaPlata County temps will dip down to 12 degrees.
MR father of DR is asking himself not only where is my son but what was he last seen wearing?

MR: “I mean, you know, one of the questions I’ve asked him is did he have a coat but he told me, no, he didn’t have a coat.”

Dylan who vanished 3 weeks ago may just be wearing a hoodie –

MR: “A hoodie is not going to keep him very warm, I wouldn’t think.
Not in these kinds of conditions.”

The copy and paste that you did from the 9news article is not in quotation marks so the statements are not direct quotes of the individuals stated as making the comments.

That doesn't mean that what was printed is inaccurate, but only that what was quoted may not be verbatim.

I imagine there's no mention as such because he didn't arrive wearing one, and wasn't wearing one in the Walmart security video. IIRC the weather was still pretty mild then by Colorado standards, or just beginning to cool down when Dylan arrived in Durango.

Looks like we all answered you at once Ghostwheel :)

Not sure you should be making references to being the Kool-Aid house :D it has different connotations to different people.

I know.......Jim Jones screwed that up for everyone. The kicker is, it was NOT Kool-Aid he poured in those vats it was Flavr-Aid a Kool-Aid knockoff but Kool-Aid got the rap.

And my kids are in their 30's and 40's now and when they were growing up, that was the term used for a house where all the neighborhood kids gathered. It was the cool house to be at.
