The search for missing Colorado DR continues, with cold weather coming the latest concern
is if he’s still out there can he survive. Tonight in LaPlata County temps will dip down to 12 degrees.
MR father of DR is asking himself not only where is my son but what was he last seen wearing?

MR: “I mean, you know, one of the questions I’ve asked him is did he have a coat but he told me, no, he didn’t have a coat.”

Dylan who vanished 3 weeks ago may just be wearing a hoodie –

MR: “A hoodie is not going to keep him very warm, I wouldn’t think.
Not in these kinds of conditions.”

I don't get what he is saying. Obviously Dylan is not out in the woods somewhere, shivering in a hoodie. If he is still alive, then he is being hidden in a cabin or a room somewhere. A jacket would be the least of his worries, imo.

Another reason why Dylan may have traveled light as far as clothing is concerned would be because Mark may have some of his clothing at the house. It's a guess, I don't know for sure. I know my grandkids didn't have any clothing at their Dad's house, their mother had to send their clothing from home, but a lot of parents have their child's clothing there for when they visit. JMO

I doubt Dylan had a jacket at his father's, if he had visited in September when it was still warm. But anyway...not sure what the jacket issue is all about at this point.

I've always thought that once the phone ran out of battery, it was placed on charge, and neither Dylan or his dad were aware that it was actually beyond recharging. This wouldn't have been discovered by Dylan until the next day, after MR had left on his errands, and Dylan finally woke up and started moving around. If this was the case I can imagine Dylan would have been mighty ticked off and even more inclined to stomp out of the house impatiently. And I don't buy for a minute that he would have called his dad in desperation and asked him to bring him home a new phone (that was suggested here repeatedly in early threads). Surely only a really indulged teen would expect that to work - especially if he was expecting a new smart phone for Xmas.

I felt from the start that the phone was taken off Dylan, or he was told not to use it. That would annoy him if he usually had it with him all the time. Maybe enough for him to runaway.

or maybe he was busted reading that 937 message.

It just doesn't make sense why Mark didn't let Dylan go stay with his friend that night. If he went to bed that early, and was leaving the next morning, why not go ahead and take him instead of leaving him alone all evening and morning? If he really wanted to spend time with him, he would then pick him up later on his way home. And I am not buying the "out of the way" story. It would have been out of the way the next morning too.

Call me selfish, but if I hadn't seen my son for over a month, and had just driven to the airport to collect him from a flight I had paid for, I would not be shuttling him off to a friend's place for the night either. I'd also be really hurt (devastated actually) if they insisted they wanted to go elsewhere. IMO he just wanted to see his son.

I agree he had THINGS to do the next day anyway what was the big deal?

I agree with this.
He just wanted to be with his son.
Maybe his son didnt really want to be with him. He wanted to go to bayfield!
Hes a kid, Friends are more important then haging around with mom or dad its not like hes 8 any longer hes a young man priorities change. I think Mark wanted time with his son and this is where the trouble started as I see it. I think he was mad about Dylan wanting to go to see R so he changes the plan wants him home Dylan is PO'D texts R . I do think Dad eventually took the phone.
Dylan shuts down and wont talk to dad. Now either they had an altercation or Dylan walked out never to be seen again.

Either way I do not think Dylan is alive out there and I think his mother and father know this. He just needs to be found!

Well, that is very ambiguous-when exactly did he vanish?

I guess the content of the text at 9:37 MIGHT indicate what happened next. Was he mid conversation and just stopped replying? Or did his last text say to whoever ' hey im sleepy, gtg' ?
Dylan either vanished, became unable to continue texting or fell asleep shortly after 9:37 if I'm figuring this right. Is
that the general consensus?

@D76013 @SherryGrondin I don't know exactly when Dylan's phone went dead. Investigators wont tell me. It could have been the next a.m..

If LE won't tell her WHEN the phone went dead, then I'd have to say there is a very significant reason for that. When the phone ' stopped' for whatever reason it did is the key or at least a very important clue to what is going on. Then again if they've made public that he stopped using the phone at 9:37, why the secrecy ?

So Dylan's phone's last activity was during the time MR and Dylan were watching "Adventureland".....

but didn't we hear that Dylan was still texting as MR went up to bed?

(I am assuming they watched "Adventureland" in its entirety.)

ETA.... To clarify... This looks like an inconsistency to me...

Last any type of electronic outgoing communication was 9:30 (approx.).... And this would be during the time of movie watching... About 8. - 10 p.m....

But MR ran upstairs to go to bed while DR was texting ..... So did they watch the movie completely? .... And if so.... Then the times are not adding up...

Nice catch Clue ! WOW !

IMO our opinions are coloured by our experiences and what we are familiar with. 13 year old Daniel Morcombe was abducted an hour or so from where I live - he just disappeared without a trace, and with no reported sightings of Daniel with his abductor afterwards. His remains and alleged abductor were not discovered until 9 years later (yet to go to trial) - his parents were finally allowed to bury him in December 2012. I know a couple of us Australians have mentioned his case here before - it can and does happen right under our noses sometimes. Discounting a theory because it's flawed or not based on evidence is different to dismissing it because it doesn't fit with expected or past patterns/conditions/scenarios.
:moo: and not directed at anyone in particular so please don't assume it is. Just theories that some may think are unlikely, others may have knowledge of and be prepared to consider.

I agree 100% . We are already entering ' flawed' territory. This case is completely screwy. If it were textbook abduction or a textbook parental involvement you would plug in the A + B = C and Dylan would have been found weeks ago. So once you enter bizarreland the sky 's the limit, IMHO and any and all theories are worth considering. Something completely unexpected and flawed has already happened. I don't think logic will solve this.

I never saw anything saying they were watching Adventureland. Does anyone have a link on this? I just saw the Thursday interviews and Mark said he went to bed early with Dylan texting. I'm saying, if he wanted to spend time with his son that night, why did he go to bed early while he was still up?

I have to disagree that if this were parental involvement Dylan would have already been located - assuming the worst of course. There are dozens of kids missing with suspected parental involvement who haven't been located.

Two of these have led to murder convictions of a parent - D'Andre Lane (Bianca Jones) and Shakara Dickens (Lauryn Dickens). Sky Metalwala, Ayla Reynolds, and Aaliyah Lunsford are a few other examples among too many.

IMO (having often followed filicide or suspected filicide cases specifically) it is more common a child murdered by their parent is less likely to be located quickly than one not because it is that parent who often controls the scope of timeline (last seen location and time; time when MP report is made). I think for many parents who murder their kids there is also a much more concerted effort to conceal the crime due, in part, to forensics.

Not saying this is the case in this case...just an observation based on following other cases.

The real issue I have with an abductor is what about the fishing pole? Did Dylan and his friends discuss going fishing? Does it seem logical that Dylan would take his pole and everything he owned and try to walk/hitch a ride to Bayfield? Would an abductor grab all of his belongings and the fishing pole out of the shed/garage?

It's funny that there's been no recent mention of the fishing pole that's missing.

When MR said he could not go on Sun night, he had no idea he would be ' leaving him alone on monday' because DR was supposed to wake up and go with him early to his friend's house. My guess is he thought DR will be with his friends for awhile so the only chance I get to see him at all is tonight, Sunday night, so he's staying home with me. moooo

Right ! It's very common in custody situations for kids to have a few items of clothes for emergency use or just convenience use at the other parent's house. I would think especially so since they had been living nearby until recently. That might be why DR packed so lightly for a whole week because he had a few things to use at MR. If there were some clothes there, were any of them used and were any of them missing after?

I am pages behind but as to a hitchhiking or walking away scenario I thought I read or maybe it was a comment somewhere that Dylan's scent was not found on that road? After all these weeks of news stories and interviews and Facebook I can't recall where I heard or saw this. Does anyone else remember this?

Mark said in the video store interview that Dylan was exhausted Sunday night because of being at the airport all day and being up until 4:00 the night before. Now he says Dylan wasawake watching movies and ttexting pretty late into the night?? Interesting
