I also wonder about noticing that "missing" fishing pole right away...would that be anyone's first concern when they haven't heard from their kid? Gee, I think I'll just look around and see if he took a fishing pole with him. Most of us just CALL the friends....and if we don't have any numbers, yes, we would jump in the car and head out to find them. But really do any of you look around to see what's missing? He didn't say he went to the river/creek close to his house...he immediately headed to Vallecito to the friend's house. He said he looked around the lake, but from what I've seen on the map, he couldn't help "looking" around the lake because he had to drive right past it. If my kid wasn't answering my texts/calls and I thought he might be fishing, I would go to his fishing spots first...not a friend's house. JMO
