I don't remember MR mentioning the iPod in the interview is that correct? He didn't mention the sweat pants that were left, in fact IIRC he now says nothing was left.

BBM

Do those even exist anymore?? I don't think I have seen/read any thing remotely investigative or even anything that can be considered journalism in years. It is all just sensationalism or fluff :furious:

Most cases are covered by the approach of; When the parents talk, we will cover it. When LE talks, we will cover it. But if no one is talking, we aren't going to put any effort into reporting on the case. Basically, it has to fall into their lap.

I wonder if Mark would let the dogs search his house and cars ?

for all we know they had them there when they served the sw.

I also want to say my hat is off to Mark for working with the PI. If they do bail bonds what does that matter? They are private investigators. (I am not saying that to your post... I am just making the comment in general).

Mark Redwine said, "I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't" and frankly I agree with the man.

I know I'm a few pages behind but if not already addressed, here is my post from Dec 2 about that RSO that lives next to MR.
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8600956&postcount=647

Specifically the last link given there. It states...
"33 year old Ronald Ralph Simpson Jr. was arrested for Sexual Exploitation of Children. Agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement received information that Simpson was distributing child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 via peer-to-peer networks. A search warrant was obtained for Simpson’s apartment and was executed by the La Plata County Sherriff’s Office and ICE. The investigation revealed that Simpson had more than 1000 printed pictures of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and hundreds of CDs containing thousands of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 images in his possession."

Thank you for finding this OtherEyes! Very much appreciated.

I finally managed to get my overheating, decrepit laptop to play the interview (thanks to those who offered transcript links - and those who did the transcripts, btw!) -- and here's a couple late night observations from a tired, overheated brain:

1. Melissa so needs a new camera person to prevent viewers from suffering motion sickness..

2. Mark seems very self-oriented, and focussed on making sure we all know what a great dad he is. Also on slinging mud back at Elaine.. dragging up bitterness from the relationship (which we all know about, since -they- are the ones talking it up on the subject). It was very interesting to me, to hear him speak about his relationship with his son, the kind of language used to describe that. Made me wonder how he'd cope if Dylan kind of grew out of it, now he's a teenager.

3. Dylan was probably numbered high among the arsenal of weapons in this bitter divorce. After seeing both interviews, I think he still is.

4. I am kind of irritated by both parents and the interviewer speaking about Dylan quite often in --past tense-- like he's not maybe out there somewhere still alive. I do get that it's been months.. and hope fades. But as someone said above - what if Dylan was watching all this? I think any kid would be crushed to hear himself spoken of in past tense. /pet peeve rant ends

5. I must watch again tomorrow, regarding M's statements referencing Dylan's friends. He sure said 'friends' a lot. Something there's bothering me.

I'm choosing not to read about the dogs, right now. Too awful.

I'm so glad they are bringing in an independent search team with dogs. How wonderful that they are going to do it for free...for as long as it takes! It's going to be grueling out there for them.

I think that ER or MR working with anyone is terrific. IMO neither ER or MR worked with PI's in the beginning or cadaver searchers because you just can't let your mind go there. You have to have hope that the police are going to find out what happened and solve it right away, you have to believe that your child will be returned to you.
Then there has to come the most heart wrenching time in your life when you say to yourself, we HAVE to go down this road.

I hope LE welcomes both groups and provides any assistance they need.

I was reading something the other day and now can not remember where it was . But it was another missing child's case and the mum was staying " the only thing that got her out of bed every morning was that glimmer of hope that today would be the day her child would be returned to her safely" ... So at the moment hope is all Elaine has !

It sounds to me more like he was refusing to get up, not that he didn't wake up. I've had the same experience with my kids. They may have mumbled 'okay' and then rolled over and went back to sleep, and not even remember that I tried to wake them up.

And if he had done something to Dylan, and knew he was dead, why would he be trying to wake him up?

Perhaps because its just a story he is trying to make us all believe

I made a note in ER's uncut interview that she "wants closure" more than anything. I expect she wants Dylan safe and home more than anything but closure will have to do. The fact that she is finally using that word tells me she is ready for whatever they might find as opposed to the search early in by the lake where the terror was plainly visible and she kept talking about how awful it was to be searching for Dylan in the lake. Come spring, if Dylan hasn't turned up, I expect she'll be camped out by that lake.

I also want to add that I am not trying to judge parents for mistakes that were made in the past. The important thing is to realize those mistakes and try not to repeat them.

My divorce was not a piece of cake. I handled things in ways I wish I wouldn't have, out of anger and frustration. I wish I would have been able to rise above that despite the hurt. Divorce and problem relationships can bring the worst out in people and it takes two to tango and there are always two sides to every story. It would be nice for a couple to be able to say that after years of marriage, they never had to deal with an affair or an account of drunken foolish behavior from their spouse or partner. Consider yourself lucky if you've had a great relationship. I wish I would have and I wish I could have made better choices just as these parents are probably wishing right now.

I think it's sad that the public has become privy to all their dirty laundry. I don't know anyone that doesn't have some dirty laundry. It must be very difficult to have the world know about it. It's bad enough that they have lost their child but on top of that the public has focused on, well....their dirty laundry.

But divorces shouldnt end up in the courts for years and years.
This isnt a hollywood couple with billions of dollars to fight about.
From what I understand he got everything but Dylan.
So what else is there to fight about?
And who is wanting what? I dont think Elaine wants anything she has moved on
was going to start over. Seems she didnt want him to know where she worked.
She didnt seem to care where he worked. whats the hang up here?

I think he dosent want to let go. Thats JMO

Yes, there were previous reports of several items of clothing left by Dylan. Now they are saying nothing was left. Which to me is a big contradiction.
Either clothing was left or it wasn't. What is there to be confused about?

It could be that Mark's lying or it could be that he's telling the truth. I think for some, no matter what Mark say's it's going to be considered a lie. Personally, I haven't seen anything that makes me think that he's lying. MOO.

Yes, I agree that parents need to work together no matter what. In fact my daughter's father lives with us again because he became unemployed a few years ago and my daughter was so worried about where he would stay, etc....that I thought it best for her emotionally that he come back and live with us. We are not a couple anymore but we are there raising her together and that is easier on her. She will go to college soon and things will probably change then.

I don't think it's that confusing . Dylan has stayed there before so its highly likely he had clothes there before and they was the reported track suit bottoms left behind .

Just read the article and the search gal sounds like she's got a good head on her shoulders. Experienced dogs, interested in the story and the variables, meeting with the family. Her early presumption seems to be that Dylan may have set out on foot (she wants his stride, the wind speeds, etc) which is not useful, IMO.

This is where I wish search teams could work WITH LE....info such as those darned phone pings might be useful here. Info such as the route MR took to go into town that day or home that night, info such as where the RSO's live, etc. Without that info, she is literally canvassing all of the four corners. If a cadaver can be found out there, I'd bet my money on the dogs to find it, but still- a little useful info could go a long way.

I agree, and often LE will work with independent search teams. I hope they do.
