Uh oh. This is not good. The K9 group should have called LE first thing. I believe most if not all of them do. :twocents:

A spokesperson for the La Plata County sheriff's office says he was unaware of the K-9 group's offer for help.

He says the department has already used their own K-9's in the search.

I don't know that I would be asking LE for permission at this point, considering LE produced what appears to amount to zero results so far.
Why weren't organizations like Texas Equusearch called from the start?

LE asked the family to hold off on TES back in mid December, per the FMDR FB page.

Well, there you go. I am not sure as to why I would be asking LE for permission to bring dogs in at this point.

Now I see why more organizations aren't eager to help in situations like these.

Oh wait, I just thought of something. I don't think there is a hypnotist yet or anyone specializing in alien abduction!!

This woman is willing do this on her dime and for as long as it takes. It will not be an easy task. And people are questioning her motives?

I came off the fence on the side of alien abduction a couple weeks ago. So much conflict in the narratives, so much drama in the social media, so much distortion/bad editing by mainstream media, it's difficult to know what to believe.

This is a terrible situation and I can't imagine the pain the parents, friends and family have over not knowing what happened and where Dylan is.

There is a UFO sighting tower in Hooper CO, and listed on the website is the tale of a young man who claims he was abducted by aliens.

It's not so much asking permission (to me) as it is coordinating efforts, not duplicating efforts, providing effective, productive assistance, not expending effort and resources on something that LE has reason to believe didn't happen or is very unlikely not to happen, not to mention just plain old common courtesy among professionals, and wanting to keep your and your organization's reputation as professionals squeaky clean.

If you're legit and professional, you call, you intro yourself and your organization and your credentials, you offer your full cooperation, you promise not to do anything that would negatively impact the case, and you ask for any info and advice LE can offer you.

I can't think of any good reason for any legitimate professional organization not to make that call.

It's just my personal opinion though. :twocents:

I can only speak for myself. I'm not questioning her motives, I'm questioning her professionalism. The vast majority of SAR people I've known and seen talking have great respect for LE, and insist on working with LE from the start. It's just not the usual that I've seen for a SAR group not to have called LE right off the bat.

Just my personal opinion :twocents:

welcome to websleuths ColdHands! :cheer:

Thanks! I've actually been here for a while - came for Morgan Ingram and stayed when Dylan disappeared. I'm in Colorado and the news this last year has been so ugly, I'm kind of done with people killing kids, you know? It needs to stop! But then we had more killed yesterday :(

Kevin Torres mentioned Highway 17 on his Twitter this week - the highway with the most UFO sightings!

All the rest of this post is JMO:

Back to serious, I have chosen to believe Mark Redwine. And once I did that, it became more apparent to me that Dylan was probably taken by an acquaintance who was able to lure him into his vehicle and convince him to hand over his phone that Monday morning.

I think all investigators right now should be looking at who Dylan knew in the Vallecito area, doesn't even have to be anyone the parents knew, since "Dylan never knew a stranger." It is possible that PIs will have some success with that.

I think it is unlikely that the dogs will be successful, simply because without a warrant I don't know what they could search. Maybe folks will give permission, but if they don't?

I think Elaine and friends are probably a little naive about technology - I would have checked the phone records FIRST, probably before even getting in the car to drive from Monument.

Re: Child support. In AZ, after all other things like medical, dental, are considered for 50/50 custody, they take the total amount of money each parent makes as 100%. In order for the children to have the same lifestyle at either mom or dad's house, that 100% income is divided in half. So say the father is making 75% of the income and the mother only 25%, even though the children are at each home equal amount of time, the father will end up having to pay child support to the mother of 25% so her disposable income equals his, each at a level of 50%.

It so hard for parents of missing children because all these people who want to "help" come out of the woodwork, and many of them do not have good intentions but rather are taking an opportunity of someone who is vulnerable. These parents really have to watch their step.

And most reputable organizations will not work a case without LE involvement or approval in some way because in most cases, the help organizations need information from LE to do their work. Add to it that most LE are territorial about their cases, many times, that's not going to happen, and LE will not give their permission because they feel they are doing a fine job without the help. It's almost like admitting defeat to accept the outside help.

It ends up being a no-win situation for the parents. The parents are desperate and they just want their child back, they don't care how it happens, as long as it happens. JMO, IMO.

I read that she has worked with LE in the past. What if LE says no to her help but the family wants it?

I have always wondered why more organizations don't offer help on missing persons. Now I see why.

This can never be said enough.

Cory is a wonderful young man and is a credit to his family.

Non related question: How tidy/neat/clean is MR? Because I wonder if his house was spotless when LE came out there to get prints, etc...

I have no idea how tidy/neat/clean his house was. When we were married you could eat off the floor and could hardly tell we had children because I am a neat freak.

Could you make a trip to Colorado and take care of my place? Tidy is about as good as it gets with us. Of course now that my 23 year old moved out and got his own place, it is MUCH better!

Amber Dubois' mom, Carrie brought in her search dog team and re-searched areas already searched by LE and it was her dogs that found Michelle Le.

LE can't stop her from doing anything unless she interferes with the investigation. I believe the point is that she should have introduced herself to LE before going public with it. It makes LE look like they are not on top of things and makes her look like she's there to interfere JMO

I do believe that she is doing this for the good of Dylan

LOL, I hear that a lot. I can tell what kid, what grandkid was in my house when I am gone. It's sickening. For me, a dish in the sink is gross, but I never mind it at anyones house.
