I know quite a few people that work 6 days a week, 12 plus hours a day. I know people that are required to work on the road and be gone for days and weeks at a time. When they get a day off, it may only be one day. I would have to know more about MR's work schedule to really form an opinion on whether he made the choice not to see him as often as he did or it was job related. Employers give employees so many weeks vacation a year, so if this is the only time he had more than a day at a time free, then I could see how it would be difficult to MR to see Dylan if there was a significant distance between them. If you have one day home and your out the next, it would be hard to take Dylan overnight even if you lived close.

I just can't form judgement on how much time MR spent with Dylan, without knowing his job situation over the last several years, in more detail.

I don't think the amount of time MR did or didn't spend with Dylan prior to July is really much of a factor here. The situation as it was seemed to suit everyone concerned. The problems arose when ER altered the situation and made things much more difficult and inconvenient for MR. And she did this to not only take on a new job, but a new (old?) husband. I'm sure MR had to be steaming about the whole thing. Looks like ER bent to his will and made his life as easy as possible after the divorce but now she was putting herself first for once and I'll bet he really had a problem with that.

So when looking at things that led up to Dylan's disappearance we've got an ex-wife moving and getting remarried and taking the children with her. A custody hearing, that Dylan made statements at, where ER won sole custody (and possibly increased child support or actual child support where none really existed before?). Then we've got a court ordered visitation for a week at Thanksgiving that MR has to take a week of "work" off for and return to his home in Vallecito. Dylan was supposed to fly in on the Saturday. MR came home for this. Dylan did not make it in on the Saturday (still really unclear of what happened there) but the flight was rescheduled for the Sunday. It's a little vague about whether MR had driven to the airport on Saturday only to find out that flight was cancelled. So the Sunday flight, according to MR, was also late getting in due to some mechanical issues in Denver. Not sure when it was originally due in and how long MR had to wait at the airport for it to come in. When Dylan finally does get there he's asking to immediately go to see his friends in Bayfield. Dad says no and they go in the opposite direction to Durango to grab some stuff at Walmart. Dad wants to go eat at a sit down restaurant and talk. Dylan wants McDonalds so they go to the drive thru. Was there no sit down area in the McDonalds where they could "talk" or at that point was MR a little peeved at everything that had gone down so far and just grabbed the food at the drive thru and headed home?

And what did they talk about during the time from the airport to home? Did MR ask Dylan what he may have said to the judge that resulted in him losing custody? Did MR ask Dylan what he wanted to do for Thanksgiving and Dylan told him he wanted to be home in Colorado Springs? Was Dylan mad about not getting to go to Bayfield to see his friends like he had planned? Was MR mad that he wanted to go there right away and had actually planned to do so? After MR had been waiting to see him since Saturday? MR has a temper. So much seems to be so wrong with the whole scenario.

I just don't see this thing as getting off on the right foot from the get go.

Which is why its a good thing that Mark and Elaine are bringing in outside help as they cant just stand still in the hope LE suddenly find something :)

It has been 80 days and nada so far.

I wish one of them would bring in one of the big missing child organizations like Klaas Kids. Get the help, avoid the circus. :twocents:

What a great post....I totally agree

2 things are incriminating MR, IMO (besides being the last one to see DR and seeing his atty Monday AM):

1. the change of story about Sunday night and the lack of a clear narrative from MR about that time frame, as well as the inclusion if extraneous and unnecessary information when MR discusses Sunday night. it's as if he can't remember what happened, or he's thinking about something that really happened and saying something else, trying to make it sound plausible.

2. taking a nap on Monday when he can't locate his son. that tells me that timeframe is when something else happened. he has no other alibi for that time other than - a nap.

That's what I'm thinking too!

iirc he said that he wanted to know if Dylan needed him to pick up anything while he was in town. He also said he wanted to know if he was up and about yet.

If D was up eating cereal and watching TV, why wouldn't he answer his Dad? Especially if he was wanting a ride to town. Seems to me he'd answer with " "How long until you get back?' JMO

Enough people have referenced KlaasKids so I've been reading their website. For all the criticism, I think FMDR is doing a fairly good job of hitting the high points that Klaas suggests. Perhaps not immediately but they have made up ground since then, IMO. Lots of events, a non-profit status for fundraising and donation-processing, heavy media contact, volunteer searches, local and federal LE....the only point I noted was that the Sund/Carrington foundation does NOT offer reward monies if they believe the disappearance may be related to a custody issue. I wonder if ER has reached out and been turned away by any organizations based on this perception? No evidence of such- just wondered. Also noted that Colorado isn't even listed in Klaas' state resources. With the limited amount of local organizations available and the horrible relations between ER and MR, I really think ER and her people are doing a heck of a job trying to find Dylan. Let me be clear- i AGREE that Klaas and such can be helpful and was really overjoyed to see Jessica Ridgeway's mom speak at the vigil last night. I think it might lend a legitimacy to Dylan's case that has been lacking from day one. Still think the family is doing a fine job of things, even with Nancy G and Dog and Brown and crappedmypants and K-9s and all that.

O/T on the help that they are getting, it's really causing concern IMO. Two PI's that are ghost chasing, bail jumper chasing, odd named, publicity hounds and a firm that did not consult with LE to begin with. Dr. Phil (it ain't his first rodeo) Nancy Grace (after how many attempts to get on again) I'm thinking Jerry Springer might be next!

I hope this help actually helps, but I'm not getting that warm cozy feeling.

Non related question: How tidy/neat/clean is MR? Because I wonder if his house was spotless when LE came out there to get prints, etc...

Maybe there was an argument re: the football thing with school.

I hadn't heard he was up eating cereal when his dad left.

iirc he saw the bowl in the sink when he got home from his errands.

(the post you quoted: I was referring to what MR said he was texting Dylan while he was out running errands)

I am still here: :fence: on what happened to Dylan. What I do know is that I wish he were home with his family.

I just have a sinking feeling that all the publicity in the world is not going to help find Dylan, but rather, he will be found totally by accident, by someone not even looking for him. He is not, IMO, "out there" to be spotted by some eagle-eyed member of the public.

I'm way behind, so many posts, look fwd to catching up this weekend...

I can only hope the media publicity and outside contractors will help this case, not hurt it. At this point with no leads, what do we have to lose? Any media attention could break this case wide open, right?

And most of the time I agree with this. It's that other tiny voice in my head I can't ignore that says 'maybe' he's still out there to be found....so bring on the media circus.

That's not strange. I've seen cases where an individual caught on tape was thought to be a missing person in error. There are always reported sightings in a case like this.

ITA. As I recall, there were many, many sightings of "baby Lisa" and there were people that claimed to have seen Laci Peterson after she went missing.

I think it's "LE" speak.

It seems LE checked out all accounts/devices Dylan may have used during and prior to his trip to Mark's. I believe they also checked out electronic devices at the Colorado Springs home (from Elaine's interview).

Could it be that the 9:37 communication is as simple as a reply to R's 9:27 text....something like... 'k. c u tomorow'?

I don't understand why it didn't show up on R's or Elaine's documents. Perhaps it did and LE didn't want it mentioned immediately?

We saw R's texts. Dylan didn't reply to R. I am not sure as to why LE wouldn't want this one mentioned vs the others. I do believe that this text did not go to R, but to someone else.

Oh wait, I just thought of something. I don't think there is a hypnotist yet or anyone specializing in alien abduction!!

I agree, a 3 ring circus it will be....

Considering that what LE has been doing didn't yield any clues, what else is left?

I came off the fence on the side of alien abduction a couple weeks ago. So much conflict in the narratives, so much drama in the social media, so much distortion/bad editing by mainstream media, it's difficult to know what to believe.

This is a terrible situation and I can't imagine the pain the parents, friends and family have over not knowing what happened and where Dylan is.
