I agree with every aspect of this theory. and I don't know how he pulled off the perfect crime, unless as you said, it occurred outside the vehicle.

Even if it occured inside the vehicle or inside the home what exactly would anyone expect to be found more than a week after the fact? Just wondering what type of forensic evidence could be expected in a possible bloodless death and quick disposal.

Thankfully the cell phone, or lack of it and Dylan communicating with the tower enables Law Enforcement a timeframe that needs to be resolved.

I think one of the main problems they have is that there is only one tower that covers a very broad area. Cellreception.com shows the only Verizon tower as actually being close to the town of Bayfield. The tower closest to MR's home is Alltel. Does anyone know, without triangulation, how far the radius would be from just one tower and whether pings could be pinpointed? I think there was another case on here not long ago where a young man's cell phone had last pinged on a tower in a remote area and there was a 12 mile radius of that tower to be searched. That's a lot of area.

And if that's the case, there is no way that LE can know whether that last ping on Dylan's phone was from the home. Now if there was a ping at 9:37pm and it was from a casual conversation that he was having with a friend and he mentioned in the conversation that he was at his Dad's, then if they believe the texts were actually from Dylan they would know he was there.

Yes and I thought that originally it was noted that this conversation about visiting the friends took place after they went to Walmart and McDonalds and Dylan was told at that time that it was too late.

I have no idea if that was actually stated by MR in one of his interviews or in one of the media quotes. Anyone else remember that?

MOO

It wasn't a quote of MR's - it was from a reporter.

Dylan had asked his father whether he could go to his friends' that evening after they had shopped at Walmart and eaten at a McDonald's in Durango and before the 45-minute drive to Mark's home north of Vallecito Lake. Mark said he told his son it was too late. So Dylan texted friends in Bayfield, his father said, and made arrangements to meet them the next morning.

Thanks TxJan, I knew I had read that somewhere. So it appears as though this reporter was talking to MR since there is a picture of him with the article and it appears that the reporter was told this version of when Dylan asked to go to his friends house. After they went to Walmart and McDonalds and before they made the 45 minute drive home. Appears to be another discrepancy based on the text conversation that was released later by RN.

My thought is that it had something to do with the missed flight on Saturday, delaying DR's arrival until Sunday.

Salem

That's what I've always thought too. That he was going to check to see if there would be any problem keeping Dylan an extra day to make up for the lost day. Something like that.

I can see how MR *might* miss an empty cereal bowl, but not the tv being on in the morning. It was dark at that time, and I just don't see how he could miss the tv being on.

IIRC, from MR's earlier interview, he said the channel was on Nick when he *turned on" the TV that Monday afternoon. In other words, the TV was not left on.

  • #427
It was actually at 6:43pm that Dylan responded that he couldn't come to meet RN.

So it appears that Dylan asked to go to his friends prior to going to the Walmart and was told no. Possibly this conversation took place right from the airport.

At 7:05pm they were at Walmart so that is likely where he was when he responded to the second text from RN.

MOO

I was going by the times on the text messages. Let me find that link.

Interesting isn't it? He adds so many things that seem totally out of place in the context of what he's trying to convey. He does this often throughout the interview.

Does it really matter where Dylan was at in the house when he was texting? Why mention that he wasn't in his room? Immediately he starts off saying there isn't much cell phone service between Durango and the lake. Why bring that up?

This entire section of the interview, to me, is Mark's attempt at proving that Dylan was at his house. Are all the extra details really necessary? Do we care if Dylan was on the couch or in the kitchen when he was texting or whether or not Dylan ever went in his room? These are specific attempts to explain something. I'm not sure exactly what. For some reason it seems important to him to state that Dylan didn't go in his room.

Not directed at you, just wanted to share a different POV.

Considering the things discussed here every day, and the minute details that a lot of folks are asking about, I don't see why it is now being criticized because he is answering questions that so many have asked from Day 1. Maybe it's just me, but I've seen so many comments wondering what he bought at Walmart... he answered that in the interview... did they go in and sit down at McD's or did they go through the drive-thru... he answered that. Did Dylan lay down and go right to sleep or did he stay up and watch t.v.... he answered that. And on and on... so now he's answering these burning questions and still he gets criticized for his rambling. Was he telling the truth or just trying to make it all sound normal? IDK.

Which brings me to another point. Does anybody know his normal speech patterns? Does he always talk in circles or just when he's nervous? I did notice that he seems to go around in circles sometimes, but since I'm used to that kind of speech, (I come from a long line of talkers) I had no trouble following what he was saying most of the time.

I personally think he reads here and has seen some of these questions brought up and so he was trying to clear some of them up. I could be wrong, it's JMO.

When he got back at 11:30, his son's dirty cereal bowl was beside the sink. The television was on Nickelodeon.

Well, he said in his recent interview, that D was watching Nickolodeon that night after they watched the movie. So we don't know if D ever watched any cartoons the next morning at all.

Actually, we don't even know if he ate the cereal on Monday morning either. Maybe he ate cereal when they first got home, or just before he went to sleep.

I am still open to the possibility that Dad and D got into an argument at 11 when Dad returned home.

Ok here I am to throw MR a bone again......... because let's face it, he needs all the help he can get ! I have met lots of people in my life who are not highly intelligent. When they are speaking to people they think are intelligent and they want to ' fit in' or not been seen as less than intelligent , they speak and say weird things. They think they are speaking more intellectually and sounding like an equal with the other person , but they actually end up sounded even less intelligent than if they hadn't tried so hard. Did that make sense?
Could that possibly be what we've seen with him?
I agree he says all kinds of weird things and I remember very early on thinking he's like half very smart and half very NOT smart and one sentence may seem really well thought and the next one who you fail and english class for . So just throwing that out there. It might explain his speaking style .......that he's afraid he's not too smart and he doesn't want to come across as not too smart to the viewers. Thoughts ?
I don't really see it having to do with his intelligence, but possibly his education has something to do with it. I could be wrong, but I get the feeling that he's had it pointed out many times that he's not as well educated as his ex-wives, their friends, and even his own sons. I can see not wanting to come across as uneducated somewhere that could be seen by all of his sons' friends.

LMAO YES you do know those people !
It's sad isn't it ? I get embarrassed for them.
I have a family member whose has masters degrees in all sorts of math.
He tells these math jokes and theory jokes that I don't even pretend to
get . The kind of joke that you know if anyone is laughing it's because
they are pretending to get it. I just say Dude I have no idea what you mean.
:P
I like math jokes! I recently posted one of my favorite "tech" jokes on my FB page, and the typical responses I got were... "huh?", "what's the punch line?", "what about the rest of them?", etc. I decided most of them were not the best critics for that kind of thing. :blushing:

[If you're interested, it wasn't really a joke. I just said that there are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who know binary, and those who don't.)

I've been concentrating on the uncut interview, and it's very interesting yet disturbing the way the Father is controlling his comments and his demeanor, his eyes are blood shot red, yet lacking tears.

He made sure to stress the fact about the Verizon cell service getting reception in only a few spots in the house, one by the couch where Dylan was 'sitting' not laying, that's since been moved, and the other in the Fathers bedroom that Dylan didn't enter that night, the Father said Dylan went upstairs to retrieve the DVD player.

He also made reference to working 14 hour days, I use to be a Truck Driver, and those are the working hours allowed in a 24 hour day, with 10 straight hours offduty, resting. Plus prior to that he was talking about being in Chicago and also New York with Dylan, and they were gone Two weeks, and Dylan was excited about returning home, then he made reference about returning, but his direction of travel from the east brought him thru Colorado Springs. So it's obvious he took Dylan places his driving a Tractor Trailer allowed.

You know.....I put an entire baseball program together in my area for children with challenges. I was one of the first to do it in the US, and my program was the model for how it would be done throughout the US to the point the big wigs back in Williamsport, PA were learning from me to pass it along to other areas who wanted to implement the program.

That being said, I had to do a TV interview about it. I knew my stuff backwards and forwards. I had created it. But when the cameras went on, when the interviewer started asking questions, my mind went blank and the words came out all messed up, not at all like what I was trying to describe. I knew it right in my head but to rearrange it to answer the specific question, it didn't come out the right way. I felt I sounded like I didn't know what I was talking about.

When the cameras are on you, it's not a casual conversation where you can just talk. You are painfully aware the cameras are rolling. IME

Exactly!!
I've been on t.v. once, did not have to say a word, but it was about a 5 min. segment and it felt like 5 hours!! I was so nervous and stiff, and people who saw it said I looked like somebody was pointing a gun at me, my eyes were big as saucers. If I had been told I had to talk, I would have fainted, I'm sure. I could never go on one of those game shows, or talk shows or anything else, I would probably pass out from fright.
I guess I should explain. I worked in a large beauty salon at the time, and they had 'bought' a spot every Mon. on our local t.v. station to advertise. I modeled a hairstyle. The owner of the salon described the style and slowly swiveled my chair so viewers could see the sides and back of my hair. That was it. I probably looked like an idiot, it was an experience that I never wanted to do again!!!!

Huh? Coming from the east, Colorado Springs does come before Vallecito. I've yet to see anything that says he drove a tractor trailer. If you have a link for that, please post.

[/B]

You guys read WAY more of these cases than me so forgive me if this in not accurate but isn't this what Misty Coslin ( sp) and Deborah Bradley have " apparently" done? Out of the two, surely one of those two is guilty and yet, it appears the child vanished , right ?

Good points. But what it all boils down to is evidence. They can be almost 100% positive about someone's guilt but if they don't have the evidence to prove it, they're stuck. In the two cases you mentioned, I'm not confident that Misty was involved at all in what happened to Haleigh, other than being there. I think her brother and possibly her cousin Joe were the perps. In baby Lisa's case, I just don't know. People came unwelded because of things the couple did after Lisa's disappearance but didn't stop to think, they had two boys to consider, and they needed to resume as normal a life as they could for their sakes.

When there is no body, it's very difficult to get an indictment, unless they have proof or at least very good reasons to believe the person is dead.

Of course, I don't know what LE in this case think, but it doesn't sound to me like they are setting their sights on Mark, but I could be wrong about that. Sometimes they keep the public completely in the dark until an arrest has been made.

I'm not sure if the upcoming appearance on the Dr Phil show has been discussed concerning the Father not wanting to appear next week, i believe he stated he would rather appear in three weeks.

The majority of over the road drivers, are away from home two- to -three weeks at a time, and this very well could explain the three week delay he was requesting. As much as i fully believe he's responsible for Dylan's Disappearance, i also want to believe his delaying any appearances that can quickly resolve bringing closure to bringing Dylan home, is because of his job requirements.

Even though he's not been named a POI or a suspect in Dylan's disappearance, finding a job would be very difficult, so i would imagine he's doing whatever is necessary to maintain his current job.

  • #437
Another thing that bothered me is MR said he wanted to go sit down somewhere and eat but Dylan wanted McDonalds. So why not compromise and sit down and eat inside McDonalds? Why eat it on the road while driving?
I think IF MR did it that it's possible that they drove thru, got their food and went to a nearby park or somewhere to eat. Maybe to toss around that football? What ever happened to tossing around the football? Yes it would have been dark. Is there a park nearby that's lit up at night or maybe the football was a glow in the dark ball? There are a couple of parks near McDonalds that are right on the Animas river. Just a thought....

He said they went through the drive-thru and ate in the truck.
I think he meant he wanted to go to a diner or small restaurant and sit down, look at a menu, then order and have it brought to them. Not just that he wanted to sit down.
Why stop at a park if it was cold that night? I'm sure not going to sit out in even 50 degree weather on a cold concrete park bench and try to eat if I can sit in a warm truck! But that's just me.

http://www.canoncitydailyrecord.com/ci_22110078/dad-its-wait-wonder

I bolded a different part of the quote above.

Everything is open to our own interpretation - especially when things aren't clear due to poor writing/reporting (since joining websleuths it's really hit me how bad some reporting really is - and I am talking about journalists craft here) or due to not so eloquent speaking.

Anyhow - what if the message intended was that Dylan asked his dad about visiting RN, but the bolded portion wasn't describing the actual time Dylan asked - but rather when he hoped his father would take him.

So after a discussion about what they need from walmart and what's for dinner ...

Dylan: Dad, ok then but can you take me to Ryans tonight after we've been shopping and eaten? I really want to see my friends.
Dad: Nope - it'll be too late. I'll take you first thing in the morning.

I know this will be seen again as making excuses for MR. But obviously our brains or our experiences make us see things differently. I read things or see the interviews and am genuinely surprised to read how differently they have been interpreted by others - some people go off on tangents that would never occur to me, and obviously I do the same (as do others) and my "tangents" head off in a completely different direction.

I hope nobody from the family reads here, I really do. How awful to see your every word, blink, nod, breath, expression and action placed under a microscope and analysed and shredded in a public place. Horrendous if on top of all the humiliation, it also happens to be untrue and you are already suffering the stress of having a missing loved one.

Just curious as to when the bears begin hibernating in Colorado. My mother thinks a bear found Dylan. Do they wait until the weather is cold to go into hibernation?

A lot of people take propanolol for stage fright. I had just happened to have some prescribed to me and had to get up in front of a large crowd and briefly speak with our mayor. Then I was interviewed in front of a camera for a documentary a college was doing. I kept looking back and forth between the camera and the person talking. I was waving my arms and fidgeting with my feet. I don't ever want to see the documentary.

What made it worse was the fact that I was so nervous, I couldn't sleep the night before, so my brain was all fuzzy and my eyes were blood shot. On top of that it was pouring down rain and this was a outside event. My makeup was running and my hair was all frizzy.

I'm just wondering if there is anything left to analyze about MR's looks, words or behavior. I can't think of anything, until he speaks again in front of another camera. Hopefully when he speaks the next time, he won't elaborate on to many details.

I don't necessarily think he is reading here, but I have noticed the pressure for the questions that he answered, are pretty much across the board everywhere you read.

The public ask for more details and he gave them. It didn't make any difference though, it just seemed to make matters worse.

I've got to get my thinking straightened out because I am becoming distracted by all of this and it's interfering with my focus. Maybe it's best that I step back for a while, until hopefully some new details emerge.
