I'm going back through some old articles and thought I would bring some attention to somethings again.
http://www.durangoherald.com/article/20121124/NEWS01/121129756/Mystery-lingers-over-missing-teen

I find the comments by the parents in this article puzzling. They say complete opposite things about what Dylan's interests are.
http://www.denverpost.com/breakingn...y-search-launched-missing-boy-laplata-county

So, I wonder if Dylan spent more time doing outdoor type things with his friends in Bayfield and when he moved to the bigger city became a more "generational" kid as ER describes him? I could see Dylan missing his friends and their activities in Bayfield. Maybe he did get up and grab all his stuff and take off, hoping that he could spend the rest of the time he was there with his friends. Maybe MR told him in the morning if you don't get up and go with me now, I'm not going back into town later.

Yep I've thought from early on that he's probably different with each parent, plus each parent probably perceives him differently... I think it has a lot to do with where he is, who he's with, who's nearby, what's nearby.

I'm glad you mentioned "generational" again because that's been stuck in my head since yesterday. I know that it's in MSM and has been quoted but I also keep reading he's an "avid texter" and don't recall reading that in MSM. Admittedly I may well have missed it. The only thing I recall reading as a direct quote from a parent was "generational" and I wasn't entirely sure what that even meant.

I am surprised we haven't heard for sure whether the family is doing the Dr. Phil show. It films on Tuesday, and I would assume the producers need to know ASAP whether they are all in, or if they have to book someone else. On his website, Dr. Phil has a list of "Episodes This Week"...It seems logical that it would update on Sunday.

If they decide to do the show, it will be a very new and nerve-wrecking experience for both of them. The Dr. Phil show is filmed in front of a live studio audience, and aired nationally. Neither Elaine or Mark have done interviews in that kind of format. I do feel bad for them, if they come across as nervous or jittery or strange, because this is completely different from having a one-to-one talk with a local reporter in your kitchen.

I started reading the articles in the media thread back from the beginning. This video of Mark talking clearly shows how hurt he is that he was accused by ER of harming Dylan.
http://kwgn.com/2012/11/27/missing-teens-father-discusses-exhaustive-search/

Note that he says that he doesn't want to get into a public argument with her. He has said this on many occations. I have suspected all along that it's a possibility they had trouble communicating and she IMO could have been so angry with him that it was impossible to get past the yelling to have a conversation. IMO outside influences may have done more harm than good by fueling the fire. I hope that the family gets some good professional help that will guide them in a positive manner so they can work together and I hope that they can recognize and put an end to any negative influences that have injected themselves in the search for their son. I think they may need a professional search organization to help them do this.

Reading back through the media links from the start and taking away what I have read on SM, is a real eye opener for me. I can see how this started and how it has gone downhill.

Wasn't it in this interview though where he talks about people saying that he was crazy for wanting to drive clear across the country to go to the stadium?

From his comments, I took that he would be driving his own vehicle. It wouldn't be a trip he made while he was working.

I have been curious about his job also. I have a friend that drives over the road and listen to him talk about how demanding the job is. They are always short of drivers, want him to work more hours than what is legally allowed and he is under a lot of pressure to get the load delivered in time. Then he has to make sure that he picks up his load on time coming back. He gets very little sleep.

I thought maybe MR had a more construction type job that required him to travel to different locations and work on the job until it was completed. Maybe something to do with laying pipe. I forgot the name of the company, but I was going to read more about it to try and get a better understanding of his job situation.

( “I don’t have a college education, and I see how hard it is for me to make ends meet,” said Mark, who works at United Pipeline Systems. He wants more for Dylan, he said.)

Above is from the article A boy's life.

Personally i wish i could say your friend was exaggerating, but he's correct and then some, Over the road drivers are required to pick up and deliver loads on time and within the DOT requirements, it's surprising the low amount of accident and deaths caused by over the road drivers that are fairly new inexperienced.

These drivers are required to maintain a legal logbook, yet the book may be legal, but the majority of information is false, a short example, a driver is caught up in a major city with traffic stopped for hours, or moving slowly, that driver still needs to be at the delivery or pick up on time, the driver may need to stay awake for 24-36 hours with limited rest, and barely able to keep his eyes open.
His log book will be legal, and display he's had plenty of rest, yet that driver is a danger to himself and anyone on the road. There's company's out their that are compleately legal with safe drivers, but there's a high majority that falls in the category I've explained above.

Drivers that are late delivering scheduled loads, could sit at the site for hours, or even the next day, company receivers are in control and drivers realize this, Truck Drivers have to get that load delivered or picked up, so they can receive their next load, and paycheck,

A majority of drivers that's ended up late and is at the mercy of these delivery or pick up destinations, will say whatever story they can quickly craft togeather to to get there trailer loaded or unloaded, when i see Dylan's Father in the interview going overboard with stories or excuses, from my experience it appears he's crafting believable situations. Unless others have driven or been close friends with over the road drivers, it's a life style and job environment that most would not believe or fully understand.

Can anyone explain what an over the road driver is? I haven't heard that term before so am guessing we call it something different here. TIA :)

  • #486
Why would this person think they would have a better opportunity there, than in his own hometown? Dylan was only left alone by chance.

Not a better chance to "get Dylan" but a better chance to "remove suspicion" from the person taking Dylan.

JMO and one brainstorming idea...

  • #487
And why would someone drive six hours?

The same reason they would abduct and hurt a little guy like Dylan. Because they aren't right in the head! I am just exploring this possibility because it is possible that someone knew Dylan in his new town and had been intending to abduct him but then Dylan went to his fathers house. Six hours isn't that far to drive for someone crazy enough to kidnap someone, especially if that person thinks it will remove them from the suspect pool. Just a possibility...maybe not a probability...but a possibility to explore. Remember that woman who drove from Texas (I think) to Florida (I think) to shoot her boyfriend? The one who wore diapers and worked for NASA (I think). Anyway, crazy people do crazy things.

We have a lot of OTR truckers where I live. Basically, it means they drive long distances and just home on the weekends or every couple of weeks. As opposed to a driver that makes deliveries locally and is home every night.

Great point! Especially the player, or the remote. Those should be really fresh prints, or fresh at the time anyway. I kept thinking it'd be hard to tell if his prints were from Labor Day or Thanksgiving visits but if there are prints on this particular DVD or super fresh prints on the remote, that says a lot IMO.

I don't know how long prints remain on items. Interesting thought!

Anyway, if I recall correctly, LE stated that something happened in the house or after he left the house, indicating to me that they have some kind of proof that he was actually in the house to begin with. If not, wouldn't it be fair to say they would arrest MR because they knew for a fact that DR never made it from McDonald's to his house? Just a thought...

  • #490
LE may or may not know if DR arrived at MR's house, but they aren't telling the public. If they think it was a random perp they are doing the public a disservice by not alerting local parents. If they know what they're doing they would have or are checking out family friends as well. JMO but I think there are reasons for where they have been searching. MOO

IIRC on FMDR someone who works with MR said truck driving is only 10% of the job they do.

OTR truckers sound like they are the equivalent of our interstate truckies.

I saw that and wondered if he just delivered the product/pipe to the job site and unloaded it.

Depending on how far away the site was would determine how long he was away and how many stops he had to make.

I know companies like to combine trips based on location...my ex used to deliver for Pepsi.

Just a thought

So MR comes home at 11:30 am and Nickelodeon is on. It has to be a channel because how would MR know what DR may have been watching? It wouldn't be the same show at 11:30 because Dylan was already gone. Make sense?

Nickelodeon is a channel, where I live at its channel 31

I would also like to add that to have the nickelodeon channel it cost an extra $35.00 a month on your bill

Yes I hadn't realised that some people didn't know that. It's a kids cable channel basically, but does kind of aim its programmes at different age groups throughout the day and night. Shows in the evening are generally for older age groups - there used to be a late timeslot called Adult Swim. I thought I read that Spongebob was on early that Monday morning, before the shows for little ones like Dora the Explorer started a bit later. My 13 year old loves Spongebob.

( Elaine Redwine said she and her older son have been pleading with Dylan’s father.

“Dr. Phil is offering to put us on this Wednesday,” she said, referring to daytime talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw.)

So is Dr. Phil going to do a live show Weds? All his shows are taped in advance, usually several weeks ahead. I'm pretty sure he also has shows scheduled for weeks in advance. And I read somewhere that it would require 2 days of taping, which leaves me to question that he will "put them on" this coming Weds. It could be a month or two before that show airs. And in the meantime, a lot could happen with the case. Dylan could come home by then.

IMO every time ER's name is mentioned, it isn't to connect her with Dylan's disappearance. I think that is misunderstood often - I believe most mums would be relating very sympathetically to her pain. I personally find it unimaginable, and like many of you I probably sit here wondering if I would carry myself as well as she does. I could see myself unable to step out the door and face anybody - though I don't think any of us really know what our physical, mental and emotional state would be in that terrible situation.

I do see ER mentioned every now and then so that posters can compare and contrast what has been said by both parents and friends. In some instances we are agreeing something must be true if their opinions are the same, and also questioning why they might differ. IMO I do see it's valid to also question why certain mannerisms, or words are acceptable from one parent, but not the other - it isn't necessarily making accusations, but maybe highlighting the unfairness of not treating opinions and experiences with the same respect or even trust.

In Bobby-Dan's post she was speculating that someone that someone possibly known to ER and her Colorado Springs family might be involved - but without her knowledge. It's similar to speculating that an acquaintance of MR may be involved somehow.
:moo:

I believe for a long time Elaine thought MR was hiding Dylan since hes done this kind of thing before. I think this is where all those comments of hers stemmed from...

I think if it deals with a missing child they will put in on within a weeks time.
why bother doing the show if it wont be on for 2 3 or 4 weeks?
