Exactly... I don't think anyone's lying deliberately, but I do find the timing and vague description really strange. All JMO.

It's not strange considering it was almost 3 months ago. It'd be hard to remember much of a description over this time.
So how does the tipster know the exact date? And why wasn't this tip send in sooner if tipster considered it to be of value? If tipster didn't consider it to be of value then, what changed now?

I don't think anyone is deliberately lying. But because of time passed, I am not convinced that the date this hispanic male was seen at is accurate.
And if the tipster believed it to be important, I find it strange that the tip only came in last weekend (at least that is what was reported).

Did the tip only come in last weekend? I only remember LE saying that they talked to this witness last weekend, not that it is when they got the tip. We really don't know when they got the tip, do we?

I've thought of another possibility. Perhaps the PI just talked to this witness and persuaded them to talk to LE. They may not have associated seeing this man with Dylan's case at all, until the PI talked to them about it. Or even without the PI involved, they still just had not seen a reason before now to talk to LE. It's also possible that LE just talked to them recently, going back and following up leads.

Anything is possible.

Having a holiday that week provides an anchor that makes recall easier. I can remember what I did that Monday because it was a short work and school week and so I had outpatient surgery so I wouldn't miss much time from work, but I can't remember what I did last Monday. Or maybe this person has recounted their story often since November 19.

Perhaps this person was recently persuaded that the information actually was of value or that the decision of "value" should be up to LE. Or someone else called the tip line and suggested LE talk to this person.

I'm still not convinced that the person providing the information was actually the person that called the tip line. I have not seen anything in MSM that specifies this.

I'm sure LE already considered these things before deciding to put this out to the public for assistance tracking down the person described. These are questions I would expect LE to ask the person they interviewed. IMO

It was reported that the tip came in last weekened. I do agree that PI could have persuaded them to call in this tip. Still doesn't make me confident that this tipster got the date right. As for LE wanting to track down the person described-surely they realize that it would not be likely at all based on the description given that anyone can identify that person.

Monday, the sheriff's department said it had received a tip over the weekend about a stranger in the area the day Dylan was reported missing, and they're asking for the public's help in identifying him.

This has probably already been said, but that's never stopped me before. I think I'd be more suspicious of the tip if the person had a detailed description of the guy after all this time. It's very possible that s/he remembers the date because it was the first day of a week long break from work, because it was after hunting, it was the day before leaving to visit relatives out of town, or any number of reasons. I can see it being memorable because the person doesn't see a lot of strangers around home, but not seeming important because it wasn't that close to MR's house, the guy appeared to have a legitimate excuse for being there and left right away, or the person did leave town within a day or so and was never asked about it. MOO

The reporter for CBS4 was filmed speaking with Bender, yet chose to paraphrase him "do not have a suspect," rather than give us Bender speaking for himself.

Editing drives me crazy!:banghead:

From that story:

“My ex-wife and I both agree that Dylan is not the kind of kid that would run away but I also think that there’s a possibility that Dylan was torn between his parents,” said Mark.

“My fear is he’s out there somewhere, able to see what’s going on and he sees the conflict going on between his mom and I,” said Mark. “I think that’s a huge concern. But who knows what goes through a 13-year-old’s head.”

Each statement is odd.

Each statement is odd.

I agree. My fear would definitely not be that Dylan is missing because he is "torn between his parents" and that he is in a situation where he has free access to media, so he can see what is going on. In the scheme of things, that seems like probably the best scenario I could come up with.

Is he really suggesting that his 13 year old son voluntarily won't come back home because he is upset that "mom and dad" don't get along?
So what does he think his 13 year old son has been doing all this time?
