And this is exactly the type of thing that some people may not think relevant to the case but as an after thought they decided to call it in just in case.

Yep, and this could break. this. case.!!

Something is very very wrong here. Very wrong. Back to sitting on my hands. I might have to put myself in a straight jacket before the day's over.

Cheese SPEAK. You'll get all dried out in a straight jacket !
What's on your mind ?

Facial expressions of emotion, including macro-, micro-, and subtle expressions, are universal and independent of race, culture, ethnicity, nationality, gender, age, religion, or any other demographic variable. All people express emotions on their faces in exactly the same ways. Moreover, they are immediate, automatic, and unconscious reactions
IMO the above does confirm that there are in fact "universal" ways that human beings express themselves.. This IMO lends credence to my opinion that true it is that "NOT EVERYONE IN THIS WORLD IS GOING TO ACT/REACT THE SAME"...but that All people express emotions on their faces IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAYS.

Contrary to what some may believe/think/opine, This does allow for there to be legitimate, fact based opinions formed from analyzing and/or comparing people's statements, actions, and reactions..

Recognition of facial expressions of emotion and statement analysis represent important tools that investigators can add to their toolkit to help them conduct interviews and interrogations more efficiently and accurately. But, like any such tool, they need to be supplemented with corroborating statements, physical and forensic evidence, and hard work. And, in the authors' experience, the best lie catchers do not jump to conclusions early based solely on facial expressions or word usage. Instead, they use them as a guide through an interview to get the best information possible. This enables further elicitation of information and better comparisons and contrasts with other statements and physical evidence—all of which lead to more informed decisions.
The above quote IMO is representative of what I personally believe to be of importance regarding the various parts of a case or investigation..

Its not what one piece, part, or issue reveals or indicates.. they each, alone are just a simple tool used to guide the investigation.

So, too is it the same in looking at the various, parts or pieces of a case ..each piece alone is not representative of a definite or absolute. It is what they together represent in leading to a clearer picture that emerges from the puzzle as a whole. Jmo.

most likely a tip was left and then an interview was conducted :moo:

This LE has shown they don't just toss things out to the public left and right. They are asking for help from the public.

:moo:

Hopefully it is fruitful...

Maybe LE themselves have been going back to the drawing board and saw this written down previously. Say they interviewed folks, neighbors etc. in that very first few days, still thinking he had run away. Someone mentions this guy, they put it in the file, but move on toward ' runaway ' thinking. Now going back over ,they're like Hey what about this guy ? Could be .

exactly..

there was a guy in a remote town that usually wasn't there on the same day that Dylan goes missing.

This needs checked out.

If this is true, it suggests Dylan did make it Sunday night to MRs and left in some capacity on Monday AM.

How does a Hispanic male that was out of gas in any way suggest that "Dylan did make it Sunday night to MRs and left in some capacity on Monday AM"?

I didn't know the sheriff's office had a facebook! Can you link it please, tlcya? I can't find it. Thank you!

sorry Cheese, I took I8myPaint's link and thought it was direct to Sheriff's FB. It is apparently from "The Pines" FB page. Below is I8myPaint's post. The link seems to contain the exact presser but will have to wait for something official from LE to know for sure if it is word for word what they released I guess.

From la plata co sheriffs dept

I don't know if that link worked right, I am on my phone. It's a press release about a suspicious man who was looking into rental properties.

I think cheese has a better link 1 page back.

You can do it. I have faith in you. You'll get your time, when all this comes out. :)

So a new lead after 7 weeks . Someone came forward all this time later and just now remembered? While it's exciting, I hope their memory of the actual date and the way this guy looks is still accurate. I'm concerned about a memory of so long later and if they're so sure of the date, why didn't they come forward sooner. Bizarro!

I agree. I consider myself having a normal memory. No way, almost 3 months later, would I remember the exact date I saw some guy looking for gas.

  • #71
Hopefully, the guy will come forward. If he doesn't, I don't see how he can be tracked down.

I will not hold my breath or get too excited, though. It would be the rare case indeed that did not include tips like this.

I was also thinking it may be possible that the PI uncovered this information and LE knew about it but had been keeping it quiet. Once the PI released it, LE confirmed it.

Or, LE just didn't follow up on it. It would really upset me if that were the case.

How do you remember an exact day you saw someone almost 3 months later?

Probably stuck in his mind all this time, eating at him. He could have called in his tip a long time ago. Who knows. Or you remember because it was a special day - your birthday, your anniversary, you rarely go out but you had to go out that day, etc.

I always remember the exact date ER went on ABC Radio because it was a special day in my family.

So why didn't this person called this tip a long ago if that is a legit tip?

Either way, ugh. Can you imagine how the family feels? I'm assuming that's why no word on the official FMDR FB page - someone (LE) is having to explain.

  • #76
While I agree that it needs to be looked into I'm surprised that some are assuming he has something to do with Dylan. We don't know at this point.

Imagine how the family feels about what?

He may have. Who knows at this point?

If it was reported to police back then, I would think police would have been looking for that hispanic male back then. It's not like they have had many leads.

Maybe they did. LE sure seems to think this is a valuable tip, and they want everyone to pursue it. They put out a press release. I'm following them. They want to find Dylan.
