How do you remember an exact day you saw someone almost 3 months later?
Depends on the day and what was happening. Some days, I could not tell you what happened, other days, I can tell you exactly what happened, down to what clothes I was wearing and how many days I'd been wearing them.

I don't believe there any lawyers, dentists or fortune tellers near MR's house.
It appears to be in the middle of nowhere.
I think that tipster is one of MR's neighbors-just guessing here, so don't ask for for a link, please.
Okay, but the point is that he might have associated seeing the man with a particular event that helped him to narrow down the time. But actually, I think he noted it immediately, and he either waited awhile before calling it in, or LE was delayed in responding. JMO

Well personally I don't know that this will exonerate MR. Perhaps this guy saw MR at the lake doing something suspicious that day?
Honestly it could be nothing or it could be something. I hope they can find the guy. Maybe somebody else in the neighborhood will come forward saying something like 'ya I gave a guy a ride to the gas station fitting that description'. I don't think most people would automatically assume he had something to do with Dylan even if they did see him.

On Monday, La Plata County Sheriff’s Office investigators said they received a tip over the weekend from someone who remembered seeing a man in the north end of Vallecito the day Dylan was reported missing.

The tipster told investigators they were approached that day by a man who asked where he could find gasoline for his vehicle. The man was described as Hispanic, between 45 and 50 years old, about 5-feet-10 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds with dark hair.

The man said he was looking at rental properties, said Sheriff's Office spokesman Daniel L. Bender. The tipster did not have a description of the vehicle.

While I agree that it needs to be looked into I'm surprised that some are assuming he has something to do with Dylan. We don't know at this point.

Imagine how the family feels about what?

Perhaps he or someone like him just in the area for the day gave Dylan a ride and dropped him in Bayfield. And maybe this person knows nothing of Dylan's disappearance? Who knows for sure? Certainly not me!

Maybe the "tipster" said it because the dogs are coming in to search and he/she knows Dylan will be found and he/she had something to do with it. And there really wasn't a Hispanic male out there. Just throwing ideas out there. JMO

Are there any gas stations in Vallecito? I wonder how many rental properties there are in that area?

I am glad that LE seem to have a new lead to follow. I sincerely hope it leads to information relevent to Dylan's disappearance.

I think the time lag between the disappearance and this new information makes it very unlikely LE will find this "not a suspect/potential witness" man.

If they should find him, it is even less likely IMO that he has any information whatsoever about Dylan or his whereabouts.

This lead is more a wing and a prayer IMO but I will be hoping with all my heart that it goes somewhere.

This is great news, I hope this person comes forward soon. I can remember certain days. For instance Thanksgiving week on Tuesday before Thanksgiving my hubby had a doctors appt. for injections.. Wednesday I cooked all day. Monday I worked and took my little with me. But ask me about last Monday..I worked nothing happened, so nothing would stand out to me.. I hope I make sense I just awoke from a nap...lol

Interesting thought....

How about 3 months ago? I am really curious why this tipster came with this lead now. It's really is a long time to remember the exact day a Hispanic male asked for directions to find gas.

Well, since it says that the man was seen on the day that Dylan went missing, it could have been when Mark was in Durango <modsnip>

Tipster is actually more than one person? A couple? Or reporter using "they" because we don't know if it's male or female.

The 9news video says LE is adamant that they will not release who called in the tip.

Or they may not have thought it was important? Or MO the PI might have been questioning neighbors of MR and was told this by a neighbor? Or maybe MR told MO the PI that his neighbor said he saw this guy and LE didn't even check it out? or maybe or maybe or maybe... Who knows? But it does need to be looked into IMHO. I don't think LE would make the statement if they didn't feel the tipster was credible.

BBM, I totally agree. How many thousands of tips have they had that they didn't issue a release about?

Good question. the description is very vague.

<snipped for space>.

Oh dear lord, reminds me of a certain white truck.....

Hmmm, definitely something to think about....

Yes, this person might have seen Mark putting what he thought was a rolled up carpet into his truck that morning, or a large 'package' wrapped in a tarp or trash bags.

It's critical this guy is found. Any little thing he may have seen could help.

I think they used the word, "they" in the description because they don't want to say a thing about the reporting party (to include man or woman)
