Of course it's a horrible thought, but unfortunately not unheard of. Some believe Dylan didn't really want to visit because he preferred to spend the holiday with his mom. That is conjecture as far as we know. We do know Dylan was anxious to visit with his friends. Some believe that angered MR who had just gone back to court to get the visitation. Again, that is conjecture. All MOO.

We aren't privy to the court documents - Dylan had just gone before the judge to give his opinion on visitation with Dad.

Was there ever an Amber Alert concerning Dylan issued ?

If not, WHY ?

Not 100% but I don't think there was an Amber Alert - possibly because for the first few days they thought Dylan had deliberately left the house on foot.

Would the father have a reason to murder his son, who was visiting for a few days?

No but that hasn't stopped the speculation that it's exactly what happened. IMO.

Revenge against his ex-wife taken out on one of their children?

Yeh, just like that. He sees the kid off and on, once during the summer for a vacation, then again in September for Labor Day but for not apparently reason, right out of the blue, on this Thanksgiving trip, he decides to do away with his kid to get even with the ex he's been battling in court with for 6 years. Of course, she's been battling, too, cuz after all it takes two to tango, but we can forget about that little detail in our story because it's all about MR out of the blue deciding to get revenge on his ex. IMO

Otto, here is the location of MR's house on the map. He lives on co rd 500. He does not live at the end of the road. The road dead ends down a ways into a camp ground.

If you zoom around on the map and down to the campground you can get a better idea of the area.

Would the father have a reason to murder his son, who was visiting for a few days?

Let me preface my answer to this question by stating I entertain multiple theories. Listed here not in any particular order of preference.

1. Murder involving MR premeditated or not.
2. Accident involving MR.
3. Abduction involving a family/friend
4. Abduction involving a stranger

If I understand correctly you are asking what motive would there be for theory number 1.

I would submit, regaining control.

I would also submit that if there was premeditation involved, Dylan may not have been the entire plan. MR's text messages to Cory, chill me to the bone. Of course, I could be completely misinterpreting MR's meaning. He texted "
"You are everything I did 2Day..... But I can change it all!!!!!!! No Cory, no Dylan, no me!!!!!!

How do you know that? We aren't privy to what they're doing or which direction they're going, since they share so little information with the public. I don't see how any of us could know what their procedures are at this moment.
Care to share what you know that we don't?

NC ANALYZER is a verified expert in child protective services and when you work in that field you work closely with law enforcement and are very familiar with their standard operation procedures and while local LE may have a little leeway in the way they conduct business I garuntee you that the CBI and the FBI are mostly by the book. That is how NC ANALYZER knows.

Thank you for answering.

But what happens if you are wrong??? What happens of in spite of everything you've been through emotionally about this, it turns out he had nothing to do with this?? What happens if Dylan was abducted, if he hitchhiked and got picked up by a perv, if he was confronted by a vicious animal??

Will you feel bad that you thought these things of him? Will your boys feel bad that they thought their father was capable of harming their half brother??

I can't even imagine having to deal with all this, but I can't imagine how I'd feel if everything I thought was wrong in the end.

I'm not being mean or factious or a smarty pants or trying in any way to be unkind. Honestly I'm not and please don't think I am in any way. This is an honest question for you.

If she is wrong, it is only because of his own past behavior. He brought on the suspicions HIMSELF because of his past actions. So she has nothing to feel badly about. If he had never been cruel, and never hidden the kids before, and never been volatile, and been more consistent with his versions of events, and had successfully passed his poly, then nobody would be doubting him.

I'm still suspecting "Pat", at least until somebody named Pat either starts posting here, or is determined to be involved with the family somehow... :moo:

Who is Pat??????

Another day and still no news . I just can not even begin to imagine the pain and frustration the family are going though . 3 months on and still no closer to finding Dylan !

Just jumping off your post here BeginnersLuck. IIRC MR's actual address is a bit further up the road though at 2343 County Rd 500 Vallecito Colorado.

Welcome to otto - I remember your posts, maps and plans from the Jessica Ridgeway threads. There hasn't been anywhere near as much MSM coverages or LE press releases in Dylan's case - it could be less confusing to just go through the media thread and form your own opinions and theories.

Just wanting to reiterate also that IMO posters here have nothing but compassion for ER and the rest of Dylan's family - unless I am frequently missing posts that have been deleted, which is possible as the threads are most active while I am asleep or at work. On the odd occasion when ER's or CR's statements or actions are questioned. I believe it's out of sheer frustration about why the words and actions of all those close to Dylan aren't placed under the same scrutiny or harsh light as MR. All MOO of course, but I do keep seeing mention of ER being under attack or similar, and really don't believe that has been the case from what I have read here.
I have to say I have weakened this weekend and had a quick read of posts about this case elsewhere, and have regretted it ever since. Once again thanks to the TOS of this site and for the hard work of the mods here. I know some get frustrated about not being able to post with absolute and unabashed freedom here, but heck it keeps things civilised and safe for everyone - I don't think it hurts at all to have to think very carefully about my words before hitting the reply button. We are all here for the right reasons, and this weekend especially I have enjoyed reading some new theories and hearing from a couple of newcomers to Dylan's threads too. :)

Yes, actually ER was paying child support all along and there was a point when MR wasn't too happy (IMO) that he didn't get everything in their divorce. He ended up taking it to the court of appeals. That was in 2010
ER was ordered to pay him c/s even though back then he wasn't seeing the boys that often. His work history and income wasn't very good at all. In Sept he lost all child support.

...another possible motive :jail:

I don't want to come across as a bully or anything, but if there is no TV in his room, he could have wanted to watch some Dora and fell asleep on the couch. IMO

Do 13 year old boys watch Dora the Explorer?

I keep seeing all these threads about ER paying MR child support. IMO, she was probably paying him alimony.

If she was the primary custodian of CR and DR, I don't think she would be ordered to pay child support.

Who is Pat??????

If I am not mistaken, "Pat" is a fictitious character someone made up in a possible scenario description many, many posts back. The poster just picked a name out of a hat, so to speak, instead of saying, "X did this and then X did that," the poster said "Pat did this and then Pat did that."

No time to catch up on the posts right now, but has anyone submitted info on the missing young man from Pagosa Springs? Isn't that kinda close to Bayfield? Weird how the first name is the same: Dillon McKee.

I don't remember where at the moment so I can't vouch for the accuracy, but I'm sure I read that prior to ER moving to Colorado Springs, they shared joint custody. I will see if I can find it somewhere. All MOO

ETA: ER's statement on NG:

REDWINE: Yes. I mean, I just don`t think -- you know, we had joint parenting time. And because, you know, Mark had to earn a living and we live in a small community, he was on the road a lot. So he didn`t spend a lot of time with Dylan in the three years prior to Dylan moving to Colorado Springs. So I just don`t think he knew Dylan all that well.
