I think the promos that will play during the daytime will make the Y&R, B&B, and The Talk watchers salivate. Yes, I know the CBS schedule. I'm a SAHM and I watch these shows. Although I typically switch over to Friends when Dr. Poo comes on.

Or do most people who watch those shows already watch Dr. Phil every day? I can't see the episode having that big of an increase in ratings from the episode shown the previous day.

The search isn't going to start until tomorrow, per FB update.

Jumping off my own post...and please understand, I'm not blaming anyone because I understand Wendy had prior obligations with another search, but it seems like everything for poor Dylan gets delayed...usually about 10 days beyond what it should have been. JMO :banghead:

I think the Dr Phil show is going to do a lot more for Dylan and family then it's going to do for the Dr Phil show and their ratings.

An appearance on Dr. Phil show could also potentially open the door for other stations to want to talk to the family ...

As long as it's not Nancy G, I'm good to go. There is no comparison when it comes to "biased" reporting, IMO. And with all the interruptions, no one can hear what anyone has to say. JMO

I think the Dr Phil show is going to do a lot more for Dylan and family then it's going to do for the Dr Phil show and their ratings.

Perhaps the best outcome would be if Dr. Phil would agree to either facilitate and/or pay for an ongoing counselor/mediator/expert to help the family through this difficult time or provide some type o f appropriate family counseling. At a minimum, I would hope at least he could help the boys with everything they have to deal with now ... and in the future.

Maybe. Then again, we're talking about the media (reporters/studio executives/producers/studios) here, the same people who cause actresses to become anorexic because they say they are fat, and the same people who cause child stars to become drug addicts. I don't really put too much faith in anyone connected to the media having an vested interest/concern in someone once they leave the set/aren't bringing in $$$ anymore. I don't really expect Dr. Phil to be paying for some mediator for more than a few weeks, if at all. Or to help out the boys for as long as they need help. I honestly think once they leave that set, there will be no more contact with the Dr. Phil show, just like Elaine can't even get anyone at the Nancy Grace show to answer her calls even though she's been on the show before. What else can he do??? He's given interviews, he's answered all LE's questions and is cooperating, he has been a phsycial part of the search for him, he's handing out flyers, he's asked publically for the return of his son.

He's not a suspect, he's not a POI as far as the police are concerned.

And now he's agree to go on Dr. Phil. Dude can't win no matter what he does.

<modsnip>.

I read a few of the postings and wanted to try to address them all at once, I hope I get them correct. ALL IS IMO, JMO and not directed at anyone, I'm jumping off of the post.

ER and CR are not IMO getting any kudos for going on Dr Phil, so why should MR? Fair enough for everyone concerned.

Do you have a link that show he has answered all of LE questions? I know that he was questioned, cursoury at first then an in depth, but I haven't seen anything from anyone in MSM that he answered ALL their questions.

He went on ONE search, out of how many. Oh my goodness, HIS child is missing and out of, I believe 4 searches, he went on ONE. Woo Hoo.

He is handing out fliers to his trucker friends, yippee! I've personally done more than that and he isn't my son. But, kudos to MR for handing out fliers to his trucker friends.

Point is, IMO, he has done MINIMAL to help find his son. MINIMAL. Kudos, for doing the minimum?!!!!

I give credit when credit is due. You (meaning you in general not anyone in particular) do not get kuddos, atta boy, good job, way to go, or anything for 1) doing the MINIMUM of what the norm expects. 2) having to be bullied to do it in the first place. Yes, bullied to do just a tad beyond the minimum. Sad, IMO that any parent needs to be bullied, chastised, called to task, mobbed, whatever term fits, to do the MINIMUM to find their missing child. Please forgive me if I don't give kuddos to a parent that doesn't do that, when I didn't give kuddos to the parent that IMO did much more than the minimum.

all IMO. JMO.

I wish I had more optimism about the dogs (or any aspect of this case, really) but if LE's dogs could not even put Dylan at the house or outside of it, as far as we know, I am not sure what to expect. I guess if they are just going to take the dogs to specific, unconnected areas to seek a scent, they could get "lucky" so to speak, but it seems such a long shot if they don't get anything where he was last alleged to be.

It's a pretty common theme with his show to offer services for guests. He's paid for drug and alcohol rehab, ongoing marriage/family counseling, assisted people with housing, legal problems, medical issues...whenever his guests demonstrate a need without the financial ability to pay, he does help.

I hope so. I know a lot of people seem to think Dr. Phil will solve the case, but I don't think that's likely. I do hope it will prompt other national shows to pick up Dylan's story.

Or do most people who watch those shows already watch Dr. Phil every day? I can't see the episode having that big of an increase in ratings from the episode shown the previous day.

Not necessarily. I don't watch Dr. Phil every day. I may watch if I see something interesting in a promo. I watched his story on the soccer mom madam (or whatever it was) after he appeared on the Talk.

Long ago when Dr. Phil first got his own show, I watched him often and he DID pay for certain things that would help his guests, whether it be rehab, a gym membership, or something along those lines, he did do that. I don't know if he still does because I don't watch all that often anymore.

Maybe the fact that mediation was brought up at all caused Dr. Phil's interest to be peaked.

That is a great idea. And I know he does that. I have known Dr. for a long time. His business was in the neighborhood I lived in and I know many people who have worked for him when he was in Irving. I think mediation is a great avenue he could offer MR and ER. His business was teaching how to voire doire and how to read people. I hope he can read these people and get some answers. There needs to be some resolution for everyone involved. jmo

You missed the entire point. All the negative comments about what he isn't doing and every time he does what everyone clamors about him NOT doing, he gets more negativity. If it's not about getting kudos, then why does everything Elaine does get kudos and very little criticism, yet Mark gets nothing but criticism about everything but when he does something right then "it's not about giving kudos." There is no balance. There isn't even at attempt at one. It's what I see with my own eyes and anyone with a modicum of fairness would see it as well. IMO, MOO, JMO.

NO YOU MISS THE POINT..it's not about the parents...it's not about
Mark, whose been left behind by wives and kids and wha wha wha everybody is so mean to poor Mark, and it's not about Elaine, whose heart has been ripped out because some SOB has taken her baby away from her (most likely for good). IT IS ABOUT DYLAN and finding him and finding out what happened to him and preventing it from happening to any other children and about finding Justice for Dylan, so all of the adults in this scenario need to put on their big kid pants and suck up their feelings and concentrate on DYLAN.

Clu, you and I are almost always on the same "page" in these cases. That being said, I'm not 100% on board with the Dr. Phil show either, but I'm confident enough in the process to believe it won't turn into a Jerry Springer show, lol, so I remain hopeful that it will get some answers....answers that we currently don't have. That is my hope for Dr. Phil's show. Answers.
As far as the search dogs...I've seen and heard of them getting amazing results when LE dogs haven't been able to find anything. Of course all dogs are different, like all people are different. I'm hoping that Ms Wendy is determined and painstaking and her dogs are everything this case needs. My biggest fear is Dylan is not in the search radius. There were a lot of hours between 8 pm and the following morning...not to mention the entire afternoon, but maybe that nap was just a necessary rest due to lack of sleep the night before. Still, that leaves 11-12 hours unaccounted for. That's a lot of territory. Like MR said, "He could be anywhere". Creepy words, but true.
I'm actually of the mind-set that if the dogs don't find anything, that's pretty much it for this case and I'll be seeing you around here and the Holly Bobo, Karen Swift and Kyron Horman threads. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best. Our "streak" together has to end soon!

I think he reads people quite well. From the times I have watched Dr. Phil he always seemed to be able to weasel his way inside the heart(s) of the "stubborn" guest(s). Several times, at first glance, I may have thought that a certain individual was the "problem child" so to speak, and I was impressed that Dr. Phil actually saw something that I didn't and went to the person I least expected him to. The times I have watched him, I always felt he was pretty fair in "calling out" folks, and never witnessed him picking on just one person - he went at both sides equally and fairly (IMO). Also, I was impressed that he found the ability to add a touch of humor when things needed to be lightened up in order for him to successfully continue the dialogue. I'm going to remain positive that something good will come of this, no matter how small...
