That's true! However it was the one thing that both Mark & Elaine agreed on in their uncut interviews with MB: That Dylan wouldn't have bothered changing clothes on Monday. :floorlaugh:

Yea, and they don't seem to agree on anything else they think he would and wouldn't have done. It's not really abnormal for a teenager to go through a phase where they don't bother changing clothing. Once he started getting older and be interested in girls it could very well have changed.

Over on FMDR, Mike Hall is posting some pics that Wendy sent him of the dogs searching...

Why assume his battery was dead just because he didn't wake up? How do you know he even used his alarm?

His Dad tried to wake him up, apparently. So he was not relying upon an alarm. He was relying upon his Dad. So making an assumption about his phone seems unwarranted, imo.

There is an assumption that he constantly used his cell phone. Teenagers that constantly use their cell phones not only use them for texting, but also as an alarm ... at least that's my experience. If he wanted to get up to meet his friend at 6:30 AM, why didn't he set his alarm ... and how exactly did he plan to get there so that he arrived at 6:30 AM?

Hmmmmm ... that doesn't sound good to me. Either no one ensured that he cleaned up and packed properly, or he was willful and didn't listen to anyone ... but I do not consider that to be normal.

As a single parent of two wonderful teenage boys, I'll tell you it's called "Choosing your battles."

I also know that regardless of what they do during the school week, it all goes out the window on a weekend or vacation day. I can easily imagine Dylan pretending to still be asleep, giving his dad a bad time because he was a grump that early on a day off. IMO

His DAd had agreed to take him. His Dad was supposed to wake him up, and give him a ride.

I totally understand why you are focused on the random perp. You won't here to see Mark and how his interviews and explanations unfolded. If you had seen that, then I think some of this would make more sense to you. JMO

This is one of several posts in which you seem to blame Dylan. I cannot figure out what you are getting at. :waitasec:

I am not blaming anyone for anything. I am trying to understand whether Dylan was making his own decisions about a lot of things in his life ... and it sounds like he was.

Why would he need to use his alarm? Dad was right there to wake him. Dylan didn't sleep in his bedroom, he allegedly slept on the couch in the living room which is practically in the kitchen where Dad was "making noise" and then "nudging Dylan" and then eventually trying to help Dylan wake up for 45 minutes.

The real question is, where's the evidence that Dylan ever made it to Dad's house?

And what about the cellphone? According to LE, there was "No activity WHATSOEVER" on it since Sunday evening. Why wasn't it used Monday to find out when Dad was getting back, or to call his friends? Why didn't he pop on the computer to FB with his friends? The Ipod? The landline? No communication on Monday morning?! Hello!!!!

And Dad changing his story from the local friend saying they hadn't seen Dylan, to the local friend not even being home when he stopped by. Major "inconsistency" there.

Tons of red flags...no real answers.

ETA: I'm going to go light a candle for Dylan and his Oma. Then I'm going to hug my pugs and tell them about how hard Sadie, Jetta and the other dogs are working to find a dear sweet, compassionate boy that never should have been "lost". Goodnight friends.

His dad was dropping him off on his way to his divorce attorney's and other errands (place of employment). If you watch the uncut version of Mark from Nine News you can see that there are plenty of outlets that Dylan would have plugged his phone charger into if he had made it to his dad's house on Sunday.

His dad said he "banged" around for 45 minutes in the kitchen which is 2 steps away from the open living room/kitchen.

Or why didn't the text from his friend at 6:45 am wake him up?

There were previous posts speculating that MR may not have been aware of the plans for Monday morning. MR's interview indicates otherwise:

Dylan had asked his father whether he could go to his friends' that evening after they had shopped at Walmart and eaten at a McDonald's in Durango and before the 45-minute drive to Mark's home north of Vallecito Lake. Mark said he told his son it was too late. So Dylan texted friends in Bayfield, his father said, and made arrangements to meet them the next morning.

MR was certainly aware of the plans. In several interviews MR makes it clear he was aware Dylan wanted to meet R early in the morning.

It seems to me that all the questions about texting can be answered with a dead battery.

Some teenagers do. When trying to juggle the homework, after school sports and keeping track of friends and family, stuffing dinner down your throat, dumping yourself in the shower, putting on clean clothes and crashing out at midnight is the norm for a lot of my son's friends. They are wrinkled in the morning, but quite clean. The girls, not so much on the sleeping in clothes.

BBM

Ain't that the truth. lol My DD would get up 45 minutes early just so she could try on a few dozen outfits, and straighten her hair. My DS would sleep until the last possible moment and wear whatever was handy. [ Until he like girls, then it changed.]

Thanks Tennlyn. It's certainly not whether Dylan was smelly. <modsnip>

I agree and I don't think that is normal either. It sounds like MR fell short in his parental duties and failed to make sure that Dylan got a shower, brushed his teeth, that sort of thing, before calling it a night.

O/T LOL - same with my son. Couldn't get him to take a shower for the life of me. Then one day on the bus, a girl told him how cute he looked when his hair was clean. LOL! I never had another problem.

I think DR asked R if he could come early because he was riding with his dad. I am sure MR said he would take him but it would have to be early. When the time came Monday morning I think DR decided he wanted to sleep in and the early arrival at R's was not that important anymore. :twocents: jmo

From Melissa Blasius interview with MR:

MR: Dylan is not the kind of kid worried about wearing clothes more than a day

Melissa Blasius:
Do you think that he, when he left was still wearing the clothes he was wearing at Wal-Mart the night before?

Mark Redwine:
Uh, yeah. I have every reason to believe that.

and that could be fixed how?

by plugging the charger into the phone and the wall outlet.

he had his charger with him.

and I bet his phone worked while it was charging...just saying
