By himself? In the dark? For hours? Was anybody home in Bayfield? Or was gma bringing R to Bayfield?

This is the way I intertpret it. Ryan was going to be dropped off at his Gramas house in Bayfield, to spend the night. Dylan was supposed to meet him there for a sleepover, but Ryan was running late.

  • #642
I had included a Someone Else Did It Theory that had Dylan, awake but really grumpy and not getting, a father getting frustrated and leaving, and then Dylan realizing h was being left, grabbing his stuff and heading out the door. Too late to catch dad, possibly heading down the road a bit after him, putting himself in sight of an opportunistic abductor. HUGE coincidence that an abductor would be right there, at that time, but it does explain the lack of Monday morning contact and fits with a kid who is trying to get in to town to see his friends.

And how do you explain the cereal bowl and TV being on Nickelodeon? He has time to eat breakfast but no time to respond to his friend?

  • #643
But Ryan was coming to his grandmas in Bayfield for Dylan to be dropped off there.

When?

It always appeared to be a part of the conversation that was missing for me.

Then again they are 13, thus simply may of not thought the process though completely.

I took the "coming" to be a question to Dylan. Was Dylan coming to Pagosa? Apparently Dylan took it the same way because he said "can't come".

Ryan : (time 6:43 p.m. Nov. 18) Im in pagosa coming

Dylan Redwine: Cant come srry ill hang tommarow

Ambiguous but yes, I can see that as a valid interpretation. Hadn't thought about it. Maybe R was getting dropped off at grandma's in the morning?

If he got up when his dad left, then he had the choice of waiting for 3.5 hours or sticking out his thumb.

Why would he get up when his Dad left? Dad said he was out like a light, and wouldn't budge?

  • #646
There's really nothing sinister about saying NO to taking him to a friends whether he
thought it was too late or not.
Everyone has their own definition of what is too late and also of what is a far drive.
Folks who do not live in spread out rural areas may not realize how really taxing and
draining it is just to make the trips into town for necessities and to do the things that
have to be done.
People that are early risers go to bed early and that is their schedule.
I have a pretty set in stone routine and schedule and it drives my siblings batty
because they all live in ' cities' near each other and get together for dinners and
gatherings very often that I don't participate in very many of . It's a long drive back
home and I get up really early. So I go to bed early and if I'm not in bed early ( which I haven't been in 3 months now ...arrgghh) then I am at least at home in my pj's settled
in ' for the night' .
For those who say 8 or 9 is " NOT LATE" as if it's in a websters dictionary somewhere of what is early and what is late, I ask you this ... can I call you at 4: 30 am tomorrow morning? What ......is that too 'early' ? There is no early if there is no ' late '. Food for thought !

I'll probably still be up! Ironically, I complain about waiting until so late if my son calls and asks if I can give him a ride to the store at 6 pm. I also complain if someone calls me at 10 am because it's too early. I don't judge anybody's ideas of what's too early or too late. :blushing:

Statistically very few cases, especially by fathers. But I would agree that even one murder of a child by anyone is too many.

Are you serious?

Area reservoirs searched again

The searches failed to produce any new leads, said Dan Bender, spokesman for the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.

“We’re just trying to be as thorough as we can be,” he said.

No new leads in search for missing 13-year-old: Task force continues search, parents take polygraph test

Investigators continue their search for Dylan Redwine, the 13-year-old Lewis-Palmer Middle School Student, who disappeared from his father's home on Nov. 19 near Durango while on a visit for Thanksgiving.
Boats equipped with sonar equipment searched Vallecito Lake again while the task force searched the shoreline.
“We have no new tips that have sent us back to the lake but we're checking in case changes in water and lake conditions could have resulted in any changes from last week,” Sgt. Dan Bender, spokesperson for the Dylan Redwine Task Force, said in a statement. “Those searches have not found anything at this time but are continuing throughout the day.”

He wasn't being dropped in the morning. He clearly says he was going to wake up if Dylan knocked, so he was going to sleep at grandma's.

It is a plausible theory especially because it was a Monday morning and folks would be up and getting ready or leaving for work around this time. So... I think it is one to keep on the shelf, in my opinion anyway.

I don't understand how he planned on getting there by 6:30 am as he told Ryan if he had already preplanned to sleep until his Dad left and then hitchhike. Ryan was texting him by 6:45 or so that morning so Ryan believed that Dylan would be there by 6:30.

And whether or not MR should have told Dylan he couldn't go really has nothing to do with anything IMO. I have no problem with a Father telling their child no. That's not the issue. We were only speculating that perhaps Dylan was not happy about it. Does that mean Dylan was spoiled or disrespectful?
I hope some aren't suggesting that if Dylan got mad and something happened that it was his fault for not being obedient to his Father?

I understand. This is the first case I've followed from the beginning, and I've sworn it will be my last. It's just difficult to answer "why" some of us lean in a particular direction without referring to things that may have been discussed ten threads back, but if we don't make reference to them, then our logic appears faulty. I guess it's like that with most cases -- I don't know.

Your maps are incredible; thank you for providing them.

Thx. I've followed enough cases over the years to know that sometimes one parent is considered guilty in part because the only alternative is a random stranger abduction. The random stranger has no name, so it's easier to interpret everything about the one parent as suspicious. It's like there are two possibilities: a huge empty void, or one of the parents ... and it's always easier to focus on one of the parents.

We saw all texts between R and Dylan. Dylan didn't tell R that he was planning to sleep until his dad left and then hitch hike. Where is that coming from?

How exactly it doesn't add up? He wanted to be ready on time.

Any child that gets dressed for school and then goes to bed is not just getting ready for school on time ... something is wrong if a child is getting dressed for school before going to bed at night.

For SARX...

Is it usual or customary to have family members accompany the dog teams during an active search?

You may not post often, but you do seem to make your posts worth reading. Thanks. Maybe I should go more for quality rather than quantity too. :waitasec:
