a lot of times the early period is the worst.

We have an entire section of resources here (see stickies area) that can be passed on to families of the missing (just fyi)

Missing Persons Information and Support - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

Actually they do at least if the CARD Team is involved and they give to the parents.

I know we have a section here, only I doubt many of the parents would know that in the first days or weeks.

do you know if the CARD team is involved in all missing childrens cases?

bbm: they are resources for US to pass along if the occasion presents itself

CART team (child abduction rapid response team) is not used in all cases of missing children

Would it be true then to say that whether or when the CARD team is brought in is up to local law enforcement?

Check to see if there is any description for Tuesday, as I think it's supposed to be a two-parter and was confirmed by CR yesterday on FB.

There is -- here is what I posted yesterday:

Interesting . . . it's currently listed on my DIRECTV for Tuesday and Wednesday:

  • Monday: "Young, Online, and Out of Control"
  • Tuesday: "The Disappearance of Dylan: Who's to Blame?"
[*]Wednesday: "Dylan's Disappearance: The Interrogation, the Polygraph . . . the Results"

ETA: Oops, just saw that tamild already answered!

O/T Rant

I think I used to project due to my own experiences with domestic violence. I am a little more cautious now, because I have witnessed and realized that many women can be mentally, emotionally and physically abusive as well. Men are less likely to talk about it or contact police when this occurs.

I have tried to help mediate with a couple recently that is having this problem. She called the police after she beat on him and he simply pushed her away in defense. I witnessed it. She spends her days on the phone calling his family, her family and friends and tells neighbors how awful he is. She drinks all the time, which contributes to the problem. I believed what she was telling me all along until I started seeing different.

I don't understand why people remain in relationships for so long, when things are this toxic. I know I remained in mine for longer than I should have, but when I see this go on for decades I just am miffed. If it's for financial reasons, it's not worth it. If it's for the kids sake, it causes more harm for them staying in the relationship. A lot of times the other partner becomes so frustrated that their behavior becomes toxic also and they turn to abuse as well.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is, we can't forget that men also are victims of domestic violence as well as sexual assault, it's just rarely talked about.

I would just like to add to this if I may.

Women can and are abusive, whether that is physically, mentally, and/or emotionally. The children a pawn in the chess game.

This was my mother to a capitol T. Since my father travelled a lot for his job, this made it easy for her to surround herself with individuals that sympathized with her, and some I will go so far and call them enablers. My mother filled my head with her version as she had primary custody.. I had no one or place to turn to. The school completely dismissed it. Friends and family as well dismissed it.

CPS did not recognize it, and their reports submitted to the Courts consisted of flat out lies. Even when I told CPS workers that the sequence of events were false, I was labeled as rebellious. The only recourse my father had was through the Courts. She purposely moved a distance away to limit time I would spend with my father, then went out of her way to sabotage those visits, either by making me feel guilty for going on them or through the use of "family events".

Even if she agreed to an extended visit, she would file a police report. LE is required to file a report thus there were alot of reports, and lots of documentation of what my mother said.

The LE reports don't always tell the true story.

I believe that both ER and MR were each appointed a representative.

When asked why Mark was not helping as much as people think he should, Cory Redwine said, “I think he has a part in this. I’m not sure exactly to what extent, but if your son’s really missing, most people would be doing anything they could to bring him home, not avoid the situation.”

Cory said that Mark Redwine usually is not reluctant to be out front.

“If he thinks he’s right, he’ll do everything he can to be out front. He doesn’t back down when he’s in the right,” Cory Redwine said. “He’s laid low and hasn’t really done a whole lot.”

The senior Redwine said there is a “history” with Cory, but he said he thinks his son’s anger toward him is reflective of his mother’s hatred toward Mark.

I believe Cory.

Very convenient that he " does it on his own" so nobody can verify his story . A lot like the day Dylan vanished .. MOO

I disagree. I would think it could easily be verified.

So should the court not have ordered visits between Mark and Dylan?

I did see previously where the Judge was or did retire.

If you watch the Dr. Phil show today, you can see a preview of Tuesday's show.

jumping off your post:

La Plata County Sheriff’s investigators, in cooperation with the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, continued their efforts Friday to locate 13-year-old Dylan Redwine.

“This is the 5th day Dylan has been missing with few clues to work from. We have to consider everything from foul play to a runaway. We hope the broadened exposure to the public through the news media, the work of our investigators, and the national reach offered by the FBI and National Center For Missing and Exploited Children will result in a positive conclusion with Dylan reunited with his family,” Bender said.

seems like local LE reached out to FBI/NCMEC. I believe that would mean the agency (NCMEC) also had contact with the parents...hopefully

So they were in contact within the first 4-5 days at the most. I wonder how that stands up against other cases?

Well, with local LE initially receiving a report that Dylan possibly ran away, I don't think they called the FBI immediately. I would hope with an abduction case immediately or within 24 hours???

I believe the FBI was immediately involved in Jessica Ridgeway's case. She disappeared on Friday and I know the FBI was there on Sunday per this article.

Ugh! So I put on dr phil to catch a preview but I must have missed it. However, at the bottom of the screen during the show was a picture of Dylan with a graphic that says ' parents blame each other for boy's disappearance' . Not what I was hoping to see.
So sorry Mods, this is not in msm, but I just saw it on tv :( Hope it can stay .

I wonder how the search is going with the dogs. It's always on my mind that there is a search going on.

I read an article about the judge that in essence said Presiding over domestic cases tears your heart out, so IMO this case was the proverbial straw.

Im hoping now that this week's last show has aired, they will up date the weekly preview videos. But given that title in the graphic on the screen.... well it's discouraging.
