Question: Wasn't reported, way back when, that Dylan took a fly fishing class? If so, why does ER say Dylan didn't even know how to thread his own fishing line? That seems odd to me.

I remember when my son was in Scouts. There were many things I didn't know that he knew how to do. I was always a bit surprised when something happened and it was my son who stepped up to take care of it -- kwim? I was - hey! I didn't know you could do that.... :)

If my memory is right, on the Phil show is the first time MR said something about a bridge DR would go to sometimes and just ' hang around' or 'hang out'. That's why I wondered the depth of the river at that point. That river flows into the big lake. Curious ! Also curious is he says DR would go to the big rock wall behind his house, or to the campground or to the bridge and hang out by himself. That seems odd to me. Surely he would have some contacts at those places. So maybe he knew someone at the campground...that no one knew he knew? FWIW

I can't search for a link now (should have been asleep hours ago :( ) but remember the television interview with Dylan's friends that had a segment filmed by the river and bridge, and the boys were talking about how they would spend all day there and that Dylan would jump off the bridge for fun? It was the same story where they mentioned going to the diner and Dylan always ordering his favourite pepperoni pizza. Not sure if they mentioned which river or bridge it was (and I know he wouldn't have been jumping off it in that weather) but maybe it is the one MR is referring to? You can see the rock wall through the trees in photos of MR's house. I still haven't gone searching for the campground, but IIRC correctly from others discussing it ages ago, it sounded pretty close by??

Hi MrsPC - could you provide a few links for this info please. I have not seen the news that LE checked out the man that was seen early Monday morning and I'm very interest in that.

Also - I have not seen anything that says they checked out the RSOs 2 or 3 times. It has been reported 2 or 3 times, but not sure it was "checked out" that many times.

I'm up on all the rest of the stuff :)

Thanks so much.

Salem

Renter found info is also posted in the media thread.

According to the articles just linked above, there were 9 offenders in the Vallecito and Bayfield area. I would guess some have been more thoroughly investigated than others, depending on whether their previous offenses fit a certain profile. I was curious as to what sex crimes required registration in Colorado and for how long so I googled the laws. Completely OT, but so astonishing that I have to mention it: a psychotherapist found guilty of sexual contact with a patient or client is not required to register.

As far as investigating neighbors, I wonder how far they would go as far as verifiying whereabouts, etc. if there is nothing that draws any suspicion. I am thinking most of the canvasing of the neighborhood consisted of asking questions about Dylan and MR. All MOO

I find it interesting that they were "cleared" so quickly when even folks that were not in the area have not been "cleared." What do you suppose the criteria is for that?

Also I read in one of those DOJ articles about missing kids that one of the issues is that patrol officers are generally enlisted to do the neighborhood canvassing. If the department has not received specific training, there may not be any standardization of questions asked or observations made. I think about Jessica Lunsford a lot - her father was just here in Denver trying to get our legislature to pass Jessica's Law. Jessica was alive in a closet just feet from the door when the police came to the trailer.

I have not eliminated a neighborhood SO as a possibility. Not at all.

I think most of the campgrounds in the area were closed for the winter. Do you know the name of the campground he's referring to and where exactly this bridge is?

Nope, he just said near my house. A little bit to the north of his place is a bridge that crosses the river. That's the closest bridge to him and the one i ASSUME he MIGHT be talking about.

1) Mark planned for up to three months to murder and dispose of Dylan
2) Mark flew into a rage at some point and unintentionally killed Dylan
3) Mark handed Dylan off to someone who has kept Dylan hidden for three months
4) Mark had his own place to hide Dylan for three months (no assistance)
5) Someone else picked up Dylan and is hiding him (benign)
6) Someone else picked up Dylan and is hiding him (foul play)
7) Someone else picked up Dylan and killed him

A) Mark did something
B) Someone else did something. IMO - this "someone else" category is too broad and without being allowed to bring in other names I think this is a futile exercise.

Months later, those are still the same options :(

For anything that was premeditated, I've been pondering what the consequences were of that canceled Saturday flight. What impact did that have on plans to pick up, hide or murder Dylan?

For me it is #2

Is there a campground near this bridge? So a little North on the Vallecito river or creek or whatever they call it?

Also notice when a sensitive issue for MR seems to come up he tries to deflect. When they talked about Dylan possibly walking to T's he quickly angered about how it wasn't that far from his house. IMO thus deflecting away from the point of the conversation. Elaine was trying to say Dylan would not walk that far and immediately MR gets angered with Elaine and was trying to say it was not that far! But DP had his handy dandy map ready :) I see that he uses getting angry with her as a way to deflect. It's probably worked in the past. Get her fired up and angry and the conversation might go off into a different area thus he doesn't have to answer the original question.

Yep, turning things around on the person who's been wronged and feigning outrage is a common tactic and I think MR is probably pretty skilled at it. Dylan goes missing on MR's watch, but ER is a lousy mother for not packing a coat. All MOO

I don't recall a link about that. There may be one. :dunno: With the little I know about fishing, iirc, fly fishing rods are much less complex than the standard rod. Has Mark said any tackle was missing?

Precisely! And a terrible parent because she thinks MR did something to Dylan. I'm still baffled over that statement. What does her suspicions of MR have to do with her parenting skills?

Awwww...hugs to your little guy! Actually, I took the time into consideration when I posted about her birthday...it's actually March 4th! But one of my grandson's birthday is Mar 3rd...Happy Birthday Ryan!

OT, but people here probably think I'm full of BS if they are really following my posts...one minute I'm referring to an adult grandson and the next minute I'm talking about my 16 yr old daughter, so just to clarify (because it is my "story", lol) I have (had) 5 children.
I raised 4 children together with my first husband. We divorced and life goes on. The children grew up, youngest at home was 17 and I was already a grandmother 4x over when I found myself "expecting" at the ripe old age of 42. (God does have a sense of humor!). I now have 13 grandchildren. I was pregnant the same time as my oldest 2 daughters and we had 3 babies between us, within 5 months....less than a year later 2 more grandchildren arrived. So my youngest daughter pretty much grew up with my grandchildren as playmates, even though she is technically their auntie. And my oldest grandson has been living with me for about a year. He's 22.
And that is my story!

OMG!!! :what:

Seriously, your story sounds familiar. I raised two sons by myself basically. Then I met my present husband, married and found myself pregnant at 41. I was two months shy of 42 when my youngest son was born. My other two boys are 17 and 20 years older than their little brother.

Got one even funnier. Years ago, my mother's best friend had one son and then a daughter 18 years later. Her son was already married with a child (he was a father at 16...shotgun wedding!) So the daughter is an aunt to a nephew 2 years older than she is. Hilarious!!

I bet there are quite a few stories of having kids when you're middle aged. I've had a blast raising this last one, but I had the wind taken out of my sails the first time someone asked me if I was his grandma!!! Talk about a let-down!

N Bridge Road is the name . IDK exactly how far but certainly within walking distance. I just dont' know if he would do that without meeting a friend there or even say an old guy who fishes off the bridge a lot that maybe he liked to chew the fat with. Maybe the blue spruce rv park is where he went to hang out ? IDK

In one of the articles I linked yesterday, it said the multi-agency task force (which includes the FBI & CBI) conducted the canvassing.

Members of the task force, along with uniformed Sheriff’s Deputies, will be contacting residents from Vallecito Dam north through the Vallecito area, officials said.

We searched this the other night, Salem, and the only reference that was found was a comment on the FMDR FB from a woman who said Dylan was in a fly fishing class.

Vallecito campground is about a half mile North of MR's and Blue Spruce RV park is about a half mile south of MR's. So not far.

The fly fishing thing was from FB, so more or less a rumor.
ER should know more about Dylan's interest in fishing, IMO.

I took a typing class in school but never learned how to change a ribbon...nor had any real interest in typing at the time, just sounded like an easy class.

So, back on topic. The best case scenario here would be that Mark or Elaine actually has Dylan sequestered somewhere. Instead of thinking of how it couldn't happen, can anyone think of a way it COULD happen. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

"I've got a theory, that it's a demon,
A dancing demon... no, something isn't right there."~Buffy Musical

Well, sure! I can think of a couple options. What if some trucker buddy agreed to 'hide' Dylan for him until he's grown? All Mark would have to pay is for Dylan's upkeep, nothing else. And what if Dylan agreed to go along with it, say some incentive that Mark gave him? Or he promised him he would bring him home once the heat died down, just to get him to agree. Maybe he made a kind of game out of it, and Dylan thought he would only be there a few weeks.

Maybe not very likely, but possible. LE would not know who this buddy is, unless Mark gave them his name. It could even be a fellow trucker who doesn't work for the same company. Truckers kind of congregate with each other in truck stops, he probably knows a lot of them by name.

I once thought it was possible that Elaine or someone in the family could have arranged something similar, but now I'm not too sold on that, because she seems too upset and scared and more 'normal' acting than Mark does. I don't think a normal mother would go to that extreme, so I don't believe she could be capable of such trickery. But Mark could.

I know this is way off the wall, but if we're going to throw out theories, I prefer the ones that have Dylan alive and well... not dead in the lake or buried somewhere. :moo:

I know what you mean. I have 4 daughters. Ages 25, 23, 17 and 4. I also fostered a daughter who is now 24. When out with the youngest I get asked "aww which of your girls does this cutie belong to?". Also my 17 year old was asked if the baby was hers while in Walmart one day. She was 15, and baby girl was 2 at the time. I always find solace in the fact that MS has the highest teen pregnancy rates, so that must be the reason behind those types of questions, right? Lol
