Is it totally weird that there is a ' homeless' population in such a tiny remote area? That is so strange. Especially so since it's such a harsh climate. You would think a homeless population in a really mild climate could survive even in a relatively remote area without a high population .

My guess is any homeless person in that area is really just someone who is staying in their truck on U.S. Forest Service (or BLM) land while working on a highway construction project. This is based on my camping experience in La Plata County a few years ago.

Are you saying that Wendy may have been "cueing" her HRD dogs when working the lake site because she knew of previous alerts?

Why would she do this? Obviously she was aware of previous hits and dives and nothing found, so why try to deceive anyone? If they do bring in divers and nothing is found it would only make her dogs look bad.

Did LE ever say EXACTLY where the dogs hit back in November? I thought I read (and it was reported to be) at the dam and where Wendy is talking about is nowhere near the dam.

Is there a chance the body could be up stream more and the scent is flowing down? The divers and sonar I believe we're only looking right around where the dogs hit?

BBM - are you saying that the handler is giving off cues that there is something there so the dogs are alerting?

I am just trying to understand. My husband and I disagree about using dogs.

If a body was dumped in one place and travelled down to another place, would the dogs alert from the beginning spot to the end, or would they only alert in the last place?

Um, thank you for asking this. I thought where the dogs hit on early was a totally different area from where Wendy's dogs hit but I didn't want to say anything because I figured I just missed something.

So is the area by the dam not where Wendy's dogs hit?

That's why I asked Sarx the question. In my opinion it's possible for a dog handler to cue their dog to alert at the target scent without them knowing that they did it.

I agree with the issue with the divers, I posted as much a few threads back.
I believe though that something like 7 sonars were used (am I remembering correctly?)
If that is correct and all 7 missed him down there, well that is disturbing and means that sonar is pretty much worthless.
The lake has long been on my list, so I am certainly not saying it is not a likely place.
On the flip side though, whenever someone goes in and searches an area already searched and alerted on, and you feel that it's a "good high probability area" it is really quite easy to steer things that way, even if you don't mean to. This is the down side to not going in blind (which can be pretty much impossible depending on circumstances).

So there were 7 divers and three boats with 4 different types of sonar. Not sure if all 7 divers went in. But it appears they were only there on one day. So if all 7 did go in that about 31/2 hours of dive time I suppose. Doesn't seem like much on such a big and deep lake.

5 branch area of lake. Also in the large search there was some mentions of something found on Mushroom Dr. or Lane, but no idea what it was.

So are you saying that if LE isn't in agreement with this team coming in then they might not follow up on any hits? And it will be up to the family to bring in divers? The day the dogs were out there and they were cutting holes in the ice there were other people there including Katt and Mike Hall. I'm sure they could vouch for whether or not the dogs were actually getting hits. It just seems sad if LE won't listen. Regardless of anything this k9 team is out there searching for Dylan in very harsh conditions for free when nobody else is and this is the thanks they get? No wonder more don't offer these services.

It kind of reminds me of the Miranda Gladdis and Ashley Pond cases here in Oregon.

Exactly what I thought. The south end is where the dam is. I'm confused about where Wendy's dogs actually hit. Some say the extreme North end shown on the map and some say at 5 branch campground on the northeast side. Either way it's not reportedly where the divers searched is it?

I thought that all of the HRD dog alerts where in the same area. That's what makes Benders comments about them so interesting to me.

Does the water flow through the dam? Scents north of and east of wouldn't make sense unless the current flows that way. Could a body be caught on something on the east side and scent continue toward the dam?

Ok, since my iPad was being nice and didn't crash, looking at the map if the first dogs hit at the dam (south end of lake) and Wendy's dogs hit at the 5 branch area (north end of the lake) does that mean 1) a body made its way from the north end to the south 2) there are multiple bodies out there 3) a body was moved 4) the dogs were wrong?

This is if the hits are in fact at these areas.
