The only way he will ever be cleared, IMO, is if someone else is charged. For better or worse, that is just the way it is. This does not mean that everyone feels he is guilty or have "convicted" him in their minds; it just means that he cannot be cleared and that as he is the last known person to be with Dylan, along with some of his behaviors and utterings, a lot of people will consider him a POI, regardless of what LE says officially.

Is anyone other than law enforcement authorized to name POIs?

I would say no. But that will not keep people from considering it to be so in their own opinions, which is what I said.

I don't have any problem with that. Thanks for clarifying.

It would be horrible to remain under a cloud, if innocent. But I cannot think of a way that MR can be cleared, without LE finding a suspect. The same situation exists in several other missing child cases. The only ones we have seen truly cleared are those that were eventually solved.

OT, I was watching a bit of a show in the ID channel tonight, regarding some children who disappeared decades ago. Forty years, and two of them have never been found, (parents not suspected in either). What struck me was the "forty years". Impossible to imagine, but all cases have the possibility of going that way. A serial killer who was taking part in the show said that in most abductions, the killer has already figured out where he will leave the body before the crime is committed, and if they are careful and smart about it, well, they are never found.

Unfortunately for some, the public occasionally does such a thorough and convincing job of convicting someone that even when a jury convicts someone else of the crime, many people won't let go of their belief of guilt. Of course, there are also those who won't accept a person's guilt even after a conviction with a confession.

Armchair detectives may not always be correct, but we sure can be steadfast, consistent, stubborn and/or loyal to our beliefs. :banghead::desert:

LE may not call MR a suspect, they may not name him as a POI, the reasons why are on the first page of each of Dylans threads, they rarely name them these days.

IMO I still think its interesting that LE didn't discourage CR from holding the rally, they were happy for him to apply pressure and currently they are trying to get the uncut Dr Phil tapes.

IMO that says a lot.

So quiet in here tonight! I am sitting here telling Anaya about Dylan. .... Of course she has no idea what I am saying.

I feel very sad for Dyl and his family :(

I want them to start searching in that lake.

person of interest has no legal definition.

Imo anyone can use this term but it has no meaning - legally. The phrase was coined by the media during the olympic bombing to describe their perceived treatment of the security guard richard jewell by le.

Running with this train of thought, who here thinks it's a possibility that Dylan said "No" to a long meal because he wanted to see his friends, and Mark said it was too late to go to his friends, either trying to get Dylan to have a sit down meal with him, or to punish him for not wanting to do what Mark wanted to do? (I know people like this, I'll bet some of you do, too)

Who here thinks its possible that DR didn't want to sit at a restaurant because he had just sat at an airport, sat on a plane and was about to sit in a car for a 45 minute drive up to the lake and the last thing he wanted to do was sit at a restaurant and have awkward conversation with his dad. McD's is easy and convenient especially when you Drive Thru, which is all I ever do.

OT but the thing about the jacket and why didn't MR buy one when they were at Walmart, it sounds like it was expected that MR would shake down DR when he picked him up to see what he had with him. I can easily see a 13 year old saying that he didn't bring any games with him, therefore leading to the walmart trip, but I can't see him saying oh and I don't have a jacket with me. My train of thought is that when they got home DR has probably up ended his backpack in the middle of the room looking for something hence leading MR to know what was in the backpack.

In regards to the watching of the Nick channel. I wonder if cable tv providers keep a record of what is watched for each subscriber...Probably not, but hey its worth a shot.

I still think its plausible that someone took a fancy to DR on the flight and followed them home and was given a golden opportunity when DR didn't leave with MR.

As far as the text messages. Tech Savvy or not, a 13 year old who has travelled all day and is probably emotionally exhausted as much as he is physically exhausted maybe just couldn't be bothered to get up and get his phone charger if the phone ran out of batteries. He had already contacted his mother and contacted his friends to organise the following day.

All of this is JMO and my rambling thoughts.

How does one go about "putting pressure on LE." I've heard that sentence a couple times this week but I don't understand it.

No matter how it's worded, LE has said that they do NOT consider MR a suspect. Please don't make me dig up that link again, I really don't think I can right now. They have also searched Elaine's home, checked out their computers, given her a polygraph (and she said they gave "all of them" polys), and they have still not cleared anybody. I'll quit with that. MOO

They have no suspects and wont name one till they are ready to make an arrest
IMO they suspect someone when they have enough evidence they will name the person. JMO

This man can NOt be ruled out only because Dylan was in his care and he went missing,he is the last person to see him and I think the only time he has an alibi for is when he was in those 2 offices. 2 hours out of how many?

LOL good question!

Personally I think LE knows alot more than they are admitting.

You list excellent reasons for why Mark has not been ruled out. Why do you think others have not been ruled out? It still is strange to me, that the SOs are clear but not people who presumably were 5 hours' drive away.

I totally see this a different way. Whenever I take my kids to McDonalds, they usually want to eat in the car, rather than sit inside.

McD's are not particularly clean, well not round here anyway! Quite often you have to clean away other people's rubbish off the tables, as the staff are usually too busy with the queue at the counter to deal with the mess. It always has a bit of a sticky, grubby feel to the place to me.

I don't like the smell of McDonalds lingering in my car, but I always feel a bit unclean when I come out of one! So, I don't find it that strange that they didn't go inside. Maybe after the long day, Dylan didn't want to go inside and sit down, maybe he wanted to get "home" so preferred to eat on them move.

I rarely go to McD's, but if I do, I do not sit down and eat. That's one place I prefer to go through the drive-thru. You're right, it's messy and noisy, and I don't even like the food. If I had my grandchildren with me, I would probably talk them into going to Burger King.... anywhere but McD's.

Its a collective group and they wont rule out any one yet, but they do have their ppl that have passed their poly, have alibis, cell records prove where they were when this happened. I do not think they want to signal one out of the bunch...Not yet anyway! When the time is right they will pounce they have their eyez on the prize!

So, who here thinks that Mr. Redwine told Dylan that it was too late for him to see his friend(s), but then in the next breath, said that they were going to sit down and have a nice, long meal?

<My Hand is Raised>

A smart kid would call him out on that BS.

Oh and play nerf football and watch andventure land and get up at 5 am to get him to R's (at 6:30) the next morning.

What the hay! He could have dropped him off easily on the way home!

I dont think he had any intention of taking him at all! That day or any other!
