Sorry but in reading this I feel people have completely misunderstood what I was saying in general. I was using the account we have been presented with Mark not only to explain why no report had been filed but also to question why one wasn't filed too.
My point was if indeed Mark did speak with someone at the MO that they really should have filed a report, regardless of how serious Mark thought this was or wasn't at the time. Kids being MIA could be innocent or it could be something extremely serious and you would think that LE would err on the side of caution. I view it kind of like this, if you were to find a dead body in your house would they leave it up to you to if you wanted a report filed or not? I think it should be the same way when someone can't find their child, especially from the long time span in which the child was unaccounted for. I don't think there really is a question of him talking to the BMO at all, I am pretty sure LE spoke with them to see if Mark made contact with them and if he didn't the press release would be something like, "Mark claims to went to the BMO to report Dylan missing but we have been unable to confirm that." That is why I kind of thought maybe he got a brush off from them. It seems to happen a lot especially if it's mentioned that a child has some kind of custody arrangement in place. I can't recall how many cases where LE was reluctant at first to take any action when a parent felt something has happened to their child during some visitation or even when they have been reluctant to issue an amber alert when a parent takes off with their child.
This could be a complete soapbox episode here, but when it comes to missing children there are still many flaws that just make it harder to find the missing children. A few months ago a friend of mine had seen a news report on her local tv about a missing child and she attempted to look for more information so she could share the flier on her FB profile. She posted the news article about the child missing but there was never an amber alert issued. It was very disheartening. To this day I don't know what became of that child, nor does she.
