Ok well then let's say the entire family is cleared!

Well, then you go to the guy who was in the area looking at the rental house, the guy the family states is "cleared" already.

Sorry, I'm stuck on the widening circles as I don't think they have all been adequately explored.

LE says that guy is cleared if I remember right.

I would pull guest registers at the area RV park, guest lodges, etc and be sure to check all rentals. Hopefully that has occurred. I'd check to see if anyone checked out early or any other unusual thing happened with any of the guests.

Ok I am not really comfortable with LE saying they've 'checked' ' spoken' to all RSO's in the area. Spoken to? Wrote down an alibi? Or actually looked into that alibi and called around. Was the guy really at work, hospital, mom's house or did you just assume he was and didn't really call ?

Then how come you'd be comfortable with LE saying that the guy looking at rental houses has been cleared? Just playing devil's advocate here. LE is very serious about RSOs.

I agree they would move on with those closest to Dylan before they branched further out.

Now, what I noted in searching that Vallecito cabin rentals that some of those cabins were already booked of for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, which begs me to question just how many strangers were in the area during that time that LE may not even be aware of were in the area, some that may have left the day Dylan went missing. The only thing, since I am not really familiar with the area I had a problem with is that the rental site kind of brought up cabins that were close to Durango and Telluride too, so it kind of made it a bit difficult to get a better idea of how many rentals are in the area exclusive to where Dylan went missing.

LE may state this publicly, but it doesn't mean they don't have questions for him now, or even in the future. Nobody is ever really cleared until there's a confession and a jury trial anyway.

Agreed. I got spoiled to Sunshine laws in FL during the Anthony case. I understand now why most states don't have open records like they do there.

Okay - I'll play. Only I'm going to extend the "suspect" parameters by saying Let's pretend ALL family has been cleared of any involvement. Where do we go from here?

Dylan is somewhere very close to home? Maybe had an accident?
Dylan was picked up by someone on his way to find cell reception so he could make a phone call - he didn't want to text - he wanted to talk to someone? (this is speculation only)

Salem

Okay- if Dylan had an accident, he would not be far and the spring thaw should help aid in finding him, yes? Searchers will be looking beyond the lake if he is not found there.
If he was abducted by a stranger, the odds of his body being close are quite high. Statistically speaking, strangers abductors are much more likely to dump without much effort to conceal or without much distance from the crime. Only problem here is if he was abducted and transported somewhere even MORE remote than Vallecito. However, neighboring states are on alert for Dylan, at least in the southwest and if an unidentified body turned up, we would know of it.
Third option in this scenario- abducted and held by a stranger. Near or far. Chilling in either case. Hence, the need for FMDR's 25,000+ followers and national media exposure.

What have I missed as far as where the greatest potential to find him might be? At this late date, I think in terms of finding a body :please: but am open to hope.

They lived in this community. Everyone knows everyone IYKWIM.

Anyone with a trailer/camper/motorhome thus the campgrounds.

Numerous rentals of homes etc.

Any regular delivery people to the various lodges, maintenance/construction whether at the lodges/roads etc.

RSO including NM.

Caves.

I'm just wondering how thoroughly they looked into. Let's say he says he was at work and they call and they said he was at work that day. Did he clock in early or late? Did he leave for a long lunch? Was he the one who took the company trucks to the car wash that day, so he's clocked in but did someone actually see him all day? Do you see what I mean? I mean specifically for RSO's in that area who would have a victim preference similar to DR.

Also I was wondering about juvenile sex offenders and they get their records sealed. SO the public cannot see their record, but can LE? Say there is a 20 yr old in the area who did some gross stuff as a 16 yr old but the records are sealed. Does LE know this guy is a sex offender or not?

And to answer to your question the vagueness of this tip on the out of the woods wandering dude with gas can never sat well with me as far as a 'viable' tip . Just seemed to vague and it made me think the tipster's memory was off or they were grasping at straws. Not sure about that .

Pretty certain that once you're a RSO, it doesn't matter your age, you're classified. The records would be sealed, of course, but not the RSO label. I could be wrong about this, however.

I agree about checking out every RSO in the area. The lack of thoroughly checking out every RSO is how Shawn Hornbeck was gone so many years, and how Ben Ownby was abducted by the same guy. (I forget his name right now) Same goes for the guy looking at the rental...I hope he was thoroughly checked out as well.

There is also the RSO in NM that killed himself after being on the run. He had removed his ankle monitor and did not meet with his probation officer which resulted in a standoff.

This one here has always caught my attention.

That's Byron Boyd and his victim profile is not young boys. Doesn't rule him out but it makes him less likely.

The out in the woods wandering guy struck me as odd, just on the level of he was looking for a rental, but he didn't rent? Sadly, I would have liked to know more about the guy in general like where he was from, how far from Vallecito did he live? How come he didn't rent a place while he was down or did he find another rental elsewhere? Just a lot of questions I would have for him.
