Catching back up and jumping off of your post... I do recall reading here early on that minors had to be signed for by the person who was supposed to get them. I assume ER would name MR as the person picking him up from the airport? I don't recall ever seeing the rules confirmed for this particular airline though, and it seemed to vary across carriers. IIRC his age was a factor in Dylan not having to change planes. I'm sorry, I really don't remember if I saw most of this in MSM or if it was mainly speculation here. I don't think it was FB rumor though, just people sharing personal experience. I'll see if I can find anything.
There is that still shot from video of Dylan in the aiport but I've thought it odd that there was no MR shown in that or the Walmart one, at least not what was released. Is Dylan one of those teenagers that walks 20 steps in front of their parent so they aren't "seen" with Mom or Dad? Doesn't seem like it from what we've read but could be? Particularly if he was upset about something or not feeling great.
On the flipside it was also confusing to me what "minor traveling alone" meant to different airlines, plus of course MR's "we" which might just be an odd wording choice IMO. It seemed like some airlines are a lot stricter than others, and it also seemed like the rules varied depending on both the airline and the child's age. I know technically a 17 year old is a "minor" but I have to think the flying rules are different for a 10 year old vs. say a 17 year old (random ages picked for example's sake). Dylan at 13/almost 14 seems like he'd be right on the edge - I mean heck he could get in a car and DRIVE if he wanted to before much longer so I imagine your average airline and average parent would think he'd be alright carrying his backpack to a seat.
Even after all this time I feel like I flip-flop on what may have happened to him. I keep holding out hope even though I know it's so unlikely that he's ok.
Boy did it take me a lot of words to say I'm still sad, still confused, so very many questions, and still worried for Dylan.
